Ahh I have these accounts and I could download it but these impressions are turning me off. I'm disappointed they chose the free route but I'm not surprised.. sadly everything is headed in this direction. I've actually been eagerly awaiting this title because I like Angry Birds designs and I love RPGs but a true freemium RPG is probably the scariest game you could play. And it doesn't sound like Rovio was very lenient on it at all.
Some of the Battles are pretty tough. Just got twice smashed against the Wall with more or less not even having a single Chance to survive. Gladly I still got a three and a two Star Rating for those fights. Still kinda strange to rate those Fights/Waves that way. I hope that Rovio will explain their intension with those a bit more at a later point when we get closer to the Global Launch.
Well I think this is pretty logical given that Angry Birds rates your progress with the same system. Thus, the people who played angry birds won't be lost and it is a callback to Angry Birds' roots.
I was more thinking about how the Point/Star System is working in Angry Birds Epic. Does it only count the Damage that I do overall through the hole Battle or does the Time that I need to get through the Battle or all Waves does also count into the overall Star Rating. I`m currently a bit unsure how the Game is handling it overall but my guess will be that at one point I just might realize that I shouldn`t too worry to much about those two or three stars at all and just enjoy my time with the Game even I`m getting my ass kicked more then once
It looks like the level-map is pretty large, given how far you can scroll across the clouded area. I was checking to see how far I could scroll around the map and ended up having trouble finding the revealed section of the map again.
I lost my hopes on Rovio over time. I mean, I really like their games. Graphics, sound. But the UI have been so bloated with consumables and scanners and other trash that the game itself is buried under this crap. Look at the second SW game. There are ads on the side of stage selection, there are ads in the map of stage selection, there are ads when you pause the game (and you can't turn them off like it was possible in the old games where the mail pig became sad if you did - which was adorable). Each button in the interface during the gameplay leads to something to either purchase or consume. If there're at least a retry button among this. But no. They don't care about user experience. At least they're not charging for the new games anymore. Really sad that they don't give a single duck for the UX.
Wow are you serious? I was going to give this game a chance but it needs INTERNET to play an angry birds game? I thought Angry Birds was supposed to be the ultimate CASUAL GAME for mobile. Every time there's no Internet it says it needs to download game data?? I just finished making space for this too... Wow. Deleted. Can't believe Rovio would do this. Next thing you know, they're making online generic collectable card games. This was my biggest hype for angry birds and now they ruined it. Great job Rovio. You guys suck.
From the 30 mins I have played it, it is worth giving it a try. I hate how people suddenly hate the game because it is free. So far I haven't found any case where I was tempted to spend a cent. I can see it being mildly strategic. A lot of different things you can do in battle. The crafting/ loot is cool as well Sucks that it needs internet to play
Cool, thanks. I'll give it a shot then. Im sure this is a gamebreaker for some. At least it isnt for me.
Remember when Firemint announced that Real Racing 3 was going Freemium? - Many didn`t liked it and said they won`t play it. Remember when Real Racing 3 had an Soft Launch? - Many didn`t liked it and said they won`t play it. Remember when Real Racing 3 launched? - Many liked it also they said before they won`t play it. I already predict you today that Angry Birds Epic will go 1:1 the same way as Real Racing 3 did in the past. You will see threads about how bad or unbalanced it might be at the current point while those that create those threads will still keep playing Angry Birds Epic.
I'm not sure that's a great comparison. I still think Real Racing 3 had one of the worst freemium models around. Compare it to Asphalt 8 (which is now freemium) and it's night and day. No BS timers, in particular. I didn't hate on RR3 prior to release. I hated it after I played it. But that being said, I do not to judge freemium immediately. What's the "real" installed size since someone said this downloads content after the initial download? Massive freemium games do give me pause at least until I hear impressions. Not saying that's the case with this but if it ends up being a gig, I'll wait and see the opinions of respected elders who already are playing it.
315mb For me the biggest problem is the gameplay itself. It takes quite q while for it to get really interesting and even then the strategies are limited. It's maybe not dor me but I know I won't spend a lot of time with it, just like Angry Birds. Go wasn't a good kart racer in my opinion (even disregarding the obnoxious IAPs).
It`s 311 MB. About RR3/A7/Angry Birds Epic. Let`s wait with the talk about the Freemium Aspects of the Game till it will Launch. Talking about it at the current point or even comparing it to any Pay2Play Game that has changed afterwards to a Free2Play Game kinda is useless at the moment since the Game will probably get a lot of Blancing in the upcoming Months.
Well, maybe A8 was a bad example but let's just leave it at my intense dislike for RR3's model and that there are plenty of fair implementations of F2P. With that, I absolutely agree, especially during a soft launch that things can and likely will be tweaked so no judgement on that for now. It does sound like the gameplay itself may not be all that hot. Debating whether to use my NZ account to give it a try or wait for the worldwide release. Nothing I've read so far (gameplay wise) is convincing me to want to dive in right away.
You know what this looks like? A lot like Costume Quest, this looks like an easy RPG that my 4-year-old can play with a little help from me using characters he already thinks are cool. If all he has to do is target pigs and I can help him on some menus and the crafting, it looks like a really good "kids first RPG." Looking forward to it.
