Hi guys FreeAppMan here, All of us here know and love Rovio's highly strategic and addictive game, Angry Birds. Its been at the top of the paid apps for months now and millions of copies have sailed out around the world! But, unlike the other two, Angry Birds might just make it to the big screen. Im not talking about the iPad (thats happened already), Im talking about a recent report by TUAW that Rovio is thinking about marketing Angry Birds even more through a movie or two. The only real question is if the storyline can be there for the movie. Obviously it will be more of a children's movie and fully animated as you might guess but with a great writer and director the producer might be able to pull it off and gain Angry Birds an even higher income. Anyways, Im posting an Angry Birds iphone video promo below. A few points: Angry birds has a storyline - pigs steal eggs. Birds get revenge. Angry birds is coming to ps3 and psp, no other consoles mentioned. This thread should be in lounge, or ps3 thread. Good news though
Ok you gotta agree with me that an Angry Birds movie is a terrible idea. I mean how the hell is it going to be executed?! Even if they go through with it it will most likely be a direct-to-dvd release.
I think this would be successful as a movie-short, preferably a short for a Pixar film. Alot of movie shorts from pixar films are great, personally I think this would be the best way if they had to make a motion picture.
Angry Birds would be an excellent movie if it was under the control of Pixar... but it wouldn't be, and since no one else can do CGI the way they can it'd have to be plain old animation. Then it would suck.
I think it will be a short, theres no way I would go see a movie that had no talking and some of its graphics look like a 2 year old drew them.
Yeah, I thought of the same thing. A Pixar short would actually work pretty nicely IMO. A short video starring the birds, and then ending in "Angry Birds - Available on the App Store".
yeah would have to be a short.. no way could i handle 80 mins of that. was a cute video tho.. after 80 mins id be reaching for a shotgun! this topic came up on iphone magazine. basically the developer said people have asked him.. but he did not think there was enough material to do it right. i posted this link in the kjb thread a few days ago.. to lazy to look for it. chris.
a pixar film would be great - but i highly doubt its gonna happen. it'll bring more attention to the app, but the movie is probably going to fail big time.
Well when I said Pixar I actually meant giving the bird voices and writing a real story about their plight with the pigs. If anyone could come up with a good one it's Pixar, but a short would work just as well without voices.
What a super short that is, I remember seeing that in the cinema. The latest one with Toy Story 3 was superb.
The one with the picture men? That one was great. I'd love to see an Angry Birds pixar short, but I very highly doubt it. Making an Angry Birds film is just ridiculous! Ha! I remembered the other Pixar short that I loved. Must have been about 7 when I saw it, but the one where the old man plays against himself at chess. Good times.
