I was just about to post this. Idc for the timers when it comes to these type of bite sized games. I just absolutely hate that every level is randomly generated... Like wtf... I want to be able to learn a stage, not go into it completely blind; I mean thats what made angry birds fun. Whats the point of having stars for each stage if theyre all randomly generated...

Im really really upset about this. Was looking forward to this one but oh well. They almost had it perfect. Ill redownload it if they take away the randomization, but I doubt they would

I played through the first eight levels so far and did not know that the levels are randomly generated. To me I think that is a nice thing to have for replay value. The roguelike argument could be made in that despite the randomness a great player (i.e. not me) will still do well no matter if they played the level in advance or not since they will scout the level throughly, know the best way to use the attacks and trajectory, and then execute. I understand though that randomness is not always welcome in every game or genre, especially outside of dungeon crawlers and card games.

This game is going to be played by Rovio fans who know more about Angry Birds than I ever will so if enough people dislike the randomly generated levels I am sure they would consider going back to pre-made levels or at least offer a puzzle mode without randomness.

Yeah i didnt even notice in the first 20 levels as well. But after that the levels get challenging. And you will immediately notice it

How do you "completely" reset progress so you can start from the beginning?

On level 28 now and it's pretty tough playing the game and the lives certainly become an issue. Bosses are pretty hard too now or at least the last one was!

The random levels feel so unfair sometimes when your stuck trying a level multiple times and get a really hard layout. Still really liking the game but wish it never had that energy system....I'd buy it out you think they would do that as how does it make them money if I won't pay for refills, surely ads aren't that profitable?

"This change in Angry Bird's monetisation system in the sequel is a subject touched upon in PocketGamer.biz's interview with the general manager of Rovio Stockholm, Oskar Burman.

When asked if he thinks the energy system alienates some players, Burman replied by saying that players liked it during its soft-launch in Canada."

    Source - Pocketgamer.co.uk

Either they are lying, or the soft launch was a setup from specific players, or... Canadians make so much money they like having somewhere to spend all of it? Is that why most games softlaunch in CA? hm...

Yeah I'm Canadian and I can verify that every citizen of Canada is rich and frivolous.. Even the ever growing unemployed and children living in poverty have no time to line up at the local food banks any more because their eyes are clued to their devices playing you know what.......well guess I better get back to the game and make another purchase

Just to clarify, my previous post was a genuine surprise to me as a gamer that anyone would be said to "like" timer mechanics, and curiosity towards the economy of Canada, not meant as an insult by any means.

Typical FreeToPlay garbage served on a Well known IP & wrapped in Tin foil to make it look shiny. Between the Ads timers, lives and so in, this game feels like a genuine cash in for Team Rovio, especially since sales have been falling since Mid 2014. What's interesting though is the fact that it is such a popular IP, why go with F2P? .99¢ or more would've garnered (in time) 1 million downloads, I assure you. Minecraft for example is well beyond that selling at $6.99!

    No problems :)
Yes it does seem quite crazy to say that Canada loved the timers...Lol. I've had this app on my device when it launched in Canada and I barely touched it. I did update it yesterday and played up to around level eight or so and the production value is very good. But I can't see myself connected to the wifi and Internet communicating with their servers and using up my data.
In fact I think they should increase the timer for each life to 48 hrs! I won't mind

Impressions after 20~ levels: The game isn't bad, but it doesn't add enough things that are new and interesting to make me want to spend more time with it. Having played a fair amount of pretty much every Angry Birds game that's been released, I feel like I know all the tricks already. This would probably be the perfect first Angry Birds game for someone, but for veteran players, the gameplay is pretty "meh."

I will praise the audio and visuals though. This is one of the smoothest and most lively games I've seen on a handheld. It looks like it could've been an UbiArt game - Rayman levels of glorious animation. If I play more it'll probably be on the iPad so I can really appreciate the visuals. It just looks so nice.

(Is it weird to say I'd like to spend $10 for a PS4 version of this game? I know my son would love it, and I'd like to see this blown up)

Piece of crap. These timers ruin the game. This is their last Angry bird game, it will be disaster.

  15. Super fun. I love all the improvements. Don't know if it's Angry Birds 2, but it's a blast. I have run into ZERO issues with the timers, are you all just bad at flinging birds? :D love that maps change somewhat each time, making each take on a level different experience. Love getting some say in which birds to use, too.

It does change the gameplay... Look, you can't screw up a thousand times or you'll be consequenced with losing a life and then have to wait to play if you mess it up FIVE times. You should probably take a break, then. Go and play some of the other maps you'd conquered already, then, or load up one of your other billion games, go get in a workout, something... Sheesh. Then, Beat the level then go back in and experiment and try to get a higher score, but you have to clear it your first time through. Is that not understood, either?

I'll probably just drop a few bucks to support a fun game. Good job, Rovio!!!

Do you honestly think that selling for 99 cents is even remotely profitable these days? Between the user acquisition costs (several dollars a download these days), marketing budget and actual development costs, I'm sure Rovio has already sunk millions into this game. There is no way they make that back with a premium release, especially when user acquisition costs multiple times more than the revenue you get from a 99 cent download.

Sure it sucks, but it's time to face reality. For big studios (Rovio has hundreds of employees), freemium is the only real way to survive in this market right now.

Yes I kept getting him but couldn't manage to knock him off the screen, I took loads of his health down but couldn't kill him dropping things on him or hitting him and was just unlucky that he kept bouncing the wrong way.

Also who the hell would say they love the energy system and prefer it??? Oh please please limit my gameplay...I can't control myself and am late for everything and forget to shower but now you've put timers in I can get on with my life and get things done while I wait, sometimes now I even get time to eat while I watch an ad

Edit: they also seem to counteract a lot of what the devs for bear vs art said about their pay model and what stats told them, not the timer of course but the way it's used with the lives.

Getting so much harder to get 3 stars now too : ( getting scores similar to all of the other levels but only reaching two stars. Which I don't get as sometimes I destroy everything and have birds left and get 2 stars

OK, after spending some more time with it, I like this game a bit more. After finally losing a level I saw that they do in fact change with each load. That's pretty cool. Keeps things fresh. The boss fights are interesting, and the interactive elements in the levels make for some fun outcomes. When just the right thing drops into one of those flowers and blasts a section of the level down that you weren't even aiming for, that's cool and very satisfying.

As this is an one-the-go game and not a "sit for 5 hours straight and play" experience, I've not felt hindered by timers or FTP elements at all. I lost my fifth life at just about the same moment my lunch break was up. I won't have time to play again for several hours (perhaps even tomorrow), so that's fine. An important thing for the anti-FTP screamers to remember is that everyone leads different lives and has different experiences. As a working father, I have more or less 2 ways to play games. Small chunks (Angry Birds, Hearthstone, Threes, #YouMustBuildABoat, Simpsons Tapped Out, Fallout Shelter) or large chunks (PS4 after the kid is asleep and I have an hour or more to play Batman or Spelunky). For me, this game is fine. If it doesn't work for you, there are dozens of non-FTP games on the app store (including probably 37 Angry Birds games), and Angry Birds Star Wars is a non-FTP console game without timers. Or, get better at the game, stop losing lives so quickly, and you'll get to play for longer :-D

  20. Dropping the truth bomb.

My daughters and I have a blast sitting there enjoying all the funny animations. This is a game I can play with them, and help them, but it is retrctive for them to play by themselves because of the timers...they can keep messing up in AB1, etc. but this one stops them cold. So that's the only knock I have with the system.
They can play levels I've already beaten without any problems, though and lose all they want as it doesn't hurt lives to replay old levels.

I do yell at them GET BETTER AT VID GAMES YOU TWERPS but the bullying doesn't seem to work... Just kidding ;)

I do wish we had a level creator, though, never got why this hasn't happened yet after all these years...
