It's even worse when you think about the original and how much of it was trial and error and continuously playing the same level over and over to figure what you did wrong. With an energy system it just ruins the entire thing. And with online connection, "play anywhere" convenience is kind of diminished.

Exactly. The trial and error was part of the experience. Angry Birds was my gateway drug. But Im long past that gate. I like this game as far as game play, but unless they introduce unlimited lives for a price or diminish the wait time, I will move on. Timers are one thing, but half an hour for ONE life! That is going to be the breaking point for a lot of players, including me. I still have hundreds of levels on my other AB games to finish.

I agree with the other posters that the tweaking of levels for more points was what hooked me on the original game. In order to do that in this game is ridiculous!

Also what I loved was that I could play offline anywhere. It is those moments that I wanted to sit down and sink my teeth into perfecting the game. But now with refreshing lives and an online connection its not going to happen.

I hate to just delete it but I just might.

OK, that's probably enough of the same comments about the evils of free-to-play. Points made, thank you very much, we all appreciate it, etc.

Anyone have comments about the game that don't have to do with the FTP system?

Free to play is the future Get used to it.

Completely agree there and with others, replaying a level was what made any sense as I don't like moving on to the next until I get 3 stars.

I'll finally get some time to play it soon now though so I can talk about the game itself, but my worry is people are playing and rather than talk about the game or make videos they are talking about how sad it is to see it this way. But we are likely the minority in a sea of others in the AppStore who will likely make the devs a lot of money.

So if I update this will it make the original levels of Angry Birds only accessible via wifi connection. Right now I can play AB offline
If I can't after the update then I simply will not update the app then

If I update this will I have to be online to access the original AB levels? If so I think I'll just not update it then. I don't want to be on wifi constantly for two main reasons
    1) Too much exposure to wifi. Not so good for long term health
    2) i don't have an unlimited plan for Internet. Can't just let the meter tick away on data usage
Sorry for the double post, I'm having wonky issues with the Internet. Waiting for another fix for this IOS ;)

Im not against free to play games at all. Im enjoying Adventure Time Puzzle Quest and haven't spent a dime on it, and that's a pretty stingy game. I play lots of free games successfully without feeling that I can't play the game unless I dump a bunch of money into consumables. THIS game is very challenging and based on my experience so far and with past AB games, you often need to play a level many times to either pass it or get all the stars (and that's part of the fun of the game-that feeling you get when you FINALLY beat a level after umpteen tries).
This game has restricted this option to a ridiculous level. Half an hour for ONE life is crazy. 15 minutes would be much more palatable.

So I just got time to play up to level 14 and so far so good, although those are easy levels where I'm not losing lives yet!

Anyway the game beautiful on my air2 it's all good to look at and I like how the bases construct when a level is starting, I especially like the little expressions on the pigs faces like the ones with an umbrella when they realize they are done for.

So far none of the f2p has bothered me and I'll be happy to play more and at the minute I'm looking forward to it! Two gripes at the moment, firstly I'd like to be able to view the extra parts of a mission before starting as it would help in deciding what bird to use for the first part. Also scores don't seem to say how much you need for 3 stars and levels often close or move on while the score is still going up! Although the game seems fairer on getting 3 stars as I remember a few of these even wiping basically everything in one shot and you still wouldn't get 3 stars.

Edit: I seen a section in game at one point for giving feedback, but can't find it now, anyone know where the feedback button is in-game?

This is a completely separate app so it won't affect any other Angry Birds games you have installed.

    It's a reasonable concern these days :)

When everyone refers to lives does that mean you actually have to get no stars to loose one, or does it cost a life just to play a level. It would seem more reasonable if it is the former since then you could replay a level loads of times as long as you get at least 1 star. I probably should download it and see for myself but I can't bring myself to do it yet.

Too bad the game requires online connection to even start. Instant put-off much like all of the recent Angry Bird franchise games.

I guess no one likes to post actual impressions when it comes to F2P games, a lot of rants about the merits of the monetization system from people who probably haven't even played the game. I asked a simple, yet very important question for prospective players that none of the previous 3 pages of posters could answer so I downloaded and gave it a shot myself. The polish is great, the multi-room levels are cool, and I like the boss battle element. Rio was the last entry in the series that I actually played so all of this is refreshing. Regarding the timers, you only lose a life if you fail to kill all of the birds. So in theory if you are good you could play without ever having an issue with timers. In the old games you had to really grind to get 3 finding the perfect solution. I am only 6 levels in and all of my victories have resulted in 3. It looks like they may have tweaked the star system in this regard. I will post again when I get to later levels to give another impression of the difficulty.

I will say this, and I found it to be very interesting, I died twice before defeating the first boss. So I saw the level 3 times and it was slightly different each time. This means there is a bit of randomization each time you play the level (this was level 5). The randomization actually had an effect since you get to choose your bird before each shot. It showed me 3 different looks and I did need to vary the birds from the play before. The whole level wasn't different, just enough of the structure to force you to reconsider your bird choice. In the first 6 levels I did not have to watch any ads. They offered to sell me some gems 1 time which I declined. So far there is no reason for me to delete the game even though I went in wanting to find something wrong with it. I will play for 30 minutes later tonight and see if more time changes my initial thoughts.

Honestly if big companies want to make the money they deserve for the game they created, they need to make it F2P. It's just a fact that people don't pay nearly as much for premium iOS games versus console/PC games.

Oh yes I agree with one of the posts above there is certainly some randomisation in the level layouts as I had to try the final boss of chapter 1 about 4 times before I finally got it and apart from the boss stage other stages seem randomly constructed.

I flew through level 1 up to 14 and then the pace slowed, lost all my lives going from 14 to 17 which is where I am at the minute.

Edit: lost all my lives getting up to level 20 now although most of them were on level 20 itself, getting to the third stage had 270k score but missed the final structure with two birds : ( although I have to admit I never really played a whole lot of angry birds just bits

The random levels takes away from the fun for me. Much preferred the strategy of the original. Also I dont mind the lives, but the constant watch an ad to get one free bird is annoying.

Very well made game, but too random for me. I'd give it a 3.5 maybe.
