Thank you for checking in! *throws a party* I've not worked directly on this for about a month, but there's so much to do (and I guess *show*) that even with that said, it can still look like I've got lots going on! Hurrah! I'm getting used to being back in the UK (ish) though I had to spend the last couple of days helping out my SheepyFolks with computer stuff. Fun, eh? But yes! Still learning, still dreaming, still putting this thing together, one line at a time QS =D
Heyas! What lovely weather! \o/ I'm off to graze in a field and drink some tea, but before I go, here's another shot from the game! I do love red! Have a great weekend all! QS =D
Hurrah! Welcome to the thread! It's such a wonderful machine, isn't it? Definitely my fave arcade machine ever (the sit-down cockpit version, naturally!) I'm going to have to find a way to sneak a TIE Fighter in there somewhere aren't I? I hope you like the look of the game, and thanks for stopping by! Help yourself to tea and cookies! QS =D
Hello lovelies! Been a while, so I thought I'd do a quick update here. Not posted many screenshots and there's a reason, though don't worry, I'm still working on the game! The reason is that I have been working out how to do text boxes and visual novel stuff. That's because I have some big things in mind. Firstly, I want Angel Wing to have a story that happens as you play. The dream is: You play as the main character with 2 wingmen (or wing women - but that doesn't sound quite right. You get the idea though). As you play through the levels, the story changes depending on which levels you choose to play through (15 levels in total, branching routes through the game). What I'd *like* to do is make your wingmen (or women!) unlockable and changeable. So you could pick Jamie and Susan as your wingmen for example and have several possible stories with them, depending on the route you take. But then you could choose Jamie and Zoe, or Rory and Amy, and the stories would be different (but still make sense). The more wingmen I add, the more complex it gets. But this is what I'm aiming for. Yes, it's an on-rails shooter. But I want people to *want* to see all the stories, and all the interactions, and all the possibilities. It will hopefully make the world feel a bit more real, and maybe add some replayability to the game too. So what does this mean? Well, it means the game will probably not be out till next year. I'm sorry about that, really I am I've been learning Unity this year, and I'm using a visual novel framework to make all the text and stuff appear. And while learning that, I've been making another game that is strictly a visual novel. It's all part of the learning process of course! I will, of course, still be working on the game proper, and will post more shots when I have them. However, this is all helpful learning stuff. I could rush and try and get the game out this year, but it probably won't be as good as I'd like (and I've learned a heap of stuff this year, so the game is already automagically better right now!) I wanted to thank you for your support, and please do pop in and see how I'm doing now and again! It's always fun to chat with you lot on here (and I've even drifted into other threads here too! Look out! Sheepy's about!) Thanks, and I'm excited to see how this game turns out! QS =D
Aw man...I've gotta wait until next year to break out my Sheepy wool gloves? *breaks out Air Supply-sips coffee-- gets lost in gaming greatness....*
Maybe not! I am absolutely gutted that I don't think I'll be able to get Angel Wing out this year - but realistically, looking at how long we have left till Xmas and taking into account how big and complex I'm planning on making the game, I just don't think I can make it in time. I feel like I've let you all down So, because I hate doing that, I will try and get *something* out for you guys before Xmas. It'll be different. It'll be small. It'll be a surprise! An appetizer for next year's main course maybe? QS =D
Stop it! Yes, we look forward to your game, but, no, you're not letting us down, man! My grandma used to tell me, 'what's worth having is worth waiting for'!' Do it right, the way you want it to be, and make yourself proud! We'll all appreciate it later!
Sheepy, I don't think you could let anybody down if you tried You're one of the loveliest people I've met online, and I think it's safe to say many others feel the same, you take the time to talk to people, not just about games, but about their lives, you must be incredibly busy but you always have time to reply to my tweets and messages, and my daughter always looks forward to me asking you about Dr Who. Your game will take as long as it takes, everyone will be here when it's ready, in the meantime, there's TEA.
You lot are lovely! Thank you for your very kind words! *curtseys with a little blush* I already made tea for everyone tomorrow, so help yourselves! QS =D
*Knock Knock* Anybody home? Just checking in to make sure things are going okay. Talking about both game development and life in general. *Pulls up a chair by the door and won't move until someone comes in or out*
