On the whole, I've had fun although the absolute lack of gameplay was a bit of a disappointment. When i designed Ancient Mystery, my first feeling was that it is like a little novel ... It has 10 challenges and each challenge is related to an element in the 'cave man''s universe.... within the challenges you need to unlock 4 artifacts, which represent components of earthly wisdom. In parallel, there is the 'hidden secrets area' , which is where i put a number of stories and anecdotes and philosophical / artistic themes that are the foundations for the overall game dynamic .... You can solve the game at the speed needed to solve 10 (fairly difficult on average) riddles.... but you can spend a lot of time thinking about the correlations between these riddles, ancient philosophies and religions, and beautiful symbols from the world of art. I designed the game, and researched everything about it , and I still enjoy going through the 'deeper and further' section to think about the beauty of some of these symbols... Just like a work of art ... I would be considered boastful if i was bragging about something i created - but i didn't create this ... I just put these symbols together - I could only wish to be able to think of something like the story of Prometheus, or Plato's cave, or the ancient symbolism of soul (light) and matter (darkness).... At a deeper level , Ancient Mystery is about symbolism, art, and philosophy ... and it's not just about solving the riddles ... I would say it is fair to look at Ancient Mystery as a small novel of art and philosophy, that includes some playful challenges and reader-engagement elements ....
