Man this thread really makes me want a kindle, which is weird since I haven't read a book willingly in like 5 years.
Pff, you guys are all lame. Orange is where it's at. On a more serious note, is it just a sleeve or does the device remain in the case while in use? For a Kindle, I'd probably want a sleeve, but that's just me. I pull my iPod out of its case all the time because it seems too bulky with it on while I'm playing a game or reading a large article.
The Kindle really is great, and super easy to read, even in the sun. Even though it seems fairly robust, I like having the cover on my Kindle. I have a leather book-like cover that folds open/back. Mostly because I put it on my nightstand (or in my backpack when I travel), and it just seems like it would help in the cases where I put something down on it by accident (or the cat walks on it ;-) ). The cases you showed are sure nice, too... Definitely look through Amazon for the free books as well. There are some free novels in addition to the free classics. Some good reading... have fun!
Same with me. I used to read loads as a kid, about one or two books per day (obviously kids books are shorter but it still added up to a good number of hours invested) then stopped dead all of a sudden. I blame the internet. I was thinking about it while watching Shutter Island, I miss stories. I don't get enough these days and films are only about 2 hours maximum. So I'm starting over There was a topic here somewhere with book recommendations, I'll have to dig it up.
I'm leaning towards red or brown. Red just because... because, and brown since it kinda looks like an old leather-bound book which is a pretty apt theme. It's a fold open kinda case. The cover flap folds all the way around the back so you can hold it comfortably in one hand while you read. Still only amounts to the same weight as a decent-sized book and remains even slimmer so I figured why not? There's one with a built-in pull-out light too, you hook the Kindle onto it's hinges and the light is powered by the Kindle's battery... kinda cool but costs more and I really don't need it.
Oh, that sounds pretty good. The one with the light seems handy, but I'm sure that it wouldn't be used enough to justify the cost. Sheesh, now I kinda want a Kindle... Gah! So many things to buy.
I suggest you go with brown or black. I have the brown one just because everyone I've seen with one has the standard black cover. The red one looks great, but I've only seen women with those--not that I mean to be sexist. You can use the Kindle while it's in the cover. Think of it like a portfolio, and honestly it's really light. On that note, I still buy books just because I like the feel of flipping through pages. But having several books in ebooks form with you at any given time makes the Kindle worth it. Keep in the mind that there are 10 times more books available on the Kindle than on the iPad. I'm sure that will change over time, but for now, the Kindle has the lead.
I have the black leather cover that the Kindle snaps into. Feels more like a "book." The new case has a light as someone mentioned and I would recommend that for reading at night - the light just slips out instead of carrying a separate book light. They are light, they just flip open, they keep it protected, I throw it in my backpack no worries and nothing to have to slip in and out of or keep track of when you are using it. Plus it gives it a nice grip to hold while reading. But I bet you ask 10 people you get 10 opinions.
Green seriously makes me feel sick for some reason, I guess I just don't want a case the colour of pea soup. Bue looks like a school book so that's out. Orange would be alright, but it's burnt orange, not just orange... so it's more dull and brown than usual. Choices choices.
Good idea, I've changed my order. It suddenly occurred to me that in my quest to leave home I might be without Wi-Fi access for a while.
