Gotta just have good speed. If you end up close to it without a long scarf you're not going to make it. It the one with the low front and the high back that kills me....
Of course. But I bought it on the Testflight version and when I bought the full game, I kept it. I haven't activated the wingsuit since, even though I feel like my playing has vastly improved. So I'm wondering if there might be some bug that I picked up going from TF to the full version? I did get "purchase the wingsuit" goal accomplished. It might be that I just haven't built up enough combos, but it doesn't feel like that.
Yeah was just editing my last reply as I saw you said you had it. Maybe it has something to do with the upgrade you're talking about but It seems like I get it only after I land some good combos consecutively. Also if you're getting 10000 combos without it you're going to get some sick scores with it.
I'm having trouble with the max boost goal too, I think once you're at max speed (wingsuit activation speed), you need to pick up even more speed with a few tricks + an ice patch. I think the entire point of that char is that the boost you get from tricks probably has a higher ceiling that everyone else....leading to...I dunno, more ground covered so a higher chance to chain tricks? Otherwise I can't figure out what her strength is aside from the rocket visual, which I dig a lot.
I think she has about the speed of Paz with *almost* the flip speed of Maya -- Maya still performs tighter flips. Then Felipe has kind of floaty, higher jumps and Tupa is just a crazy beast. Gonna see if I can get the wing suit with Izel. I really hope I don't have a bug. Edit: My next goal is 200m with the wingsuit, so it better work!
I'd like to see a use for the coins, which I realize isn't an intentional omission. Coins are usually a freemium mechanic, but here they feel useless in like...a weird way. I wanna say I unlocked all the upgrades in about three days' worth of playtime. Maybe you could use them to purchase alternate skins for the characters, or additional visual effects. Ideally I'd like to see more music tracks and more background elements, but here's a thought: your game's split up by what I'm gonna call zones. Forests, villages, ruins, etc. How about instead of just adding more of those in a future content update, you lock new ones behind a coin store. To be clear, I'm talking about game money lol. So, maybe add something like a snow covered pine tree zone, I dunno, or an urban area, whatever. Point is, make it only available if the player can spend 30,000 coins, or whatever your balance testers determine. Give me a long term reason to keep playing the game aside from the score. For a player like me, once you're done unlocking stuff in an endless type of game, it's lost its appeal. You know what made tekken 3 great? Every time you beat the game, you unlock a new fighter. Keeps you playing the game long term. That's my request, give the game long term staying power by making the coins' purpose be to unlock new art and visual elements. Again, fantastic job on it, and thanks for being receptive to feedback.
I was really enjoying the game...then the "jump off a wooden ramp into a grind three times in a run" challenge came at level 19 and Im dead in the water. Ive played for two hours straight and I have yet to see three wooden ramps. I can make it to about 7k meters. Very frustrating.
Same. I've hit 16K and at the most I've seen is two. Oddly, during a roughly 12K run only had one of those ramps. The challenges in this that are based on random events or circumstances for the game to produce really suck. I was stuck on the magnet challenge for a while due to no magnets actually showing up. Then after 6 straights runs one finally appeared and I got 3 during the same run. I'm all for challenges but challenges that are not based on player skill and based on random occurrences aren't good at all. I have found every other challenge to be rather simple or at least easy to accomplish if I focused but the random "event" ones were frustrating due to having zero control over the outcome. No level of skill can help complete those and that is poor game design in my opinion. @altosadventure I love the look of your game and it really is gorgeous but your descriptions in the upcoming game thread and even on the game's own blog about you taking inspiration from THPS is really misleading. I doubt it was 100% intentional but if you had said your game was like Ski Safari I'm pretty sure the hype and overall anticipation for this game wouldn't have been as high. I wasn't expecting a Tony Hawk game with snowboards but based on your descriptions and the blogs own talk of inspirations and tricks it really lead me to believe this game was going to have some kind of depth to it like say Epic Skater which does a ton with the notion of "one finger" gaming. Anyway, not trying to be truly negative as the game is legitimately one of the most beautiful things I have seen in motion. I think the screen shots don't look all that great (personal opinion) but the game in motion and watching the time and weather pass is a sight to behold. I really just wish there was a little more depth to the game. That to me would make this the perfect game. As it stands, after I crank through the challenges I doubt I"ll ever touch this game again and that is if it can hold my attention that long. This game needs that little extra in terms of tricks or a time trial mode or something to get the player motivated and honestly the challenges aren't even that challenging so far. More frustrating due to the random environments than anything else.
I just made it to over 8k meters, and was almost past the third elder, when I just put the game down. Only one wooden ramp near something grindable up to then. Here are my recommendations: 1. Either let me use coins to buy my way out of a challenge element, or swap it out. That way you as the publisher can see which ones people are skipping, and maybe even how long people spend trying to beat given challenges. 2. Introduce a Mellow Mode, with no elders and no rocks. Just...skiing. I'd put headphones on and play the heck out of that. If you introduced some changes to the music at different distances, it would be motivating. 3. Add a Chalet. Someplace to stop and rest and watch the weather on the mountain. It's a lovely game. But the random elements make it so frustrating.
Just popping back to say I've been totally addicted to this game all day. Some random bits..... Have unlocked Paz and I'm at about level 25 now, really don't like Paz at all so once I'd competed his specific goals I went back to maya. The challenge that has taken me the longest by a long shot is the money magnet one in the early stages, it took an hour of gameplay to have one appear. The two triple backflips one I managed to do on my third attempt. I have the wing suit but haven't mastered it yet, it comes in very handy for those long jumpsover chasms though. Don't like the feather, that's killed me more than my clumsiness has lol, but it was getting annoying not having it upgraded, it felt incomplete if that makes sense so I just try to avoid them now. After playing for a while you get used to the rocks and they are not as hard to see as I first felt they were when I started playing. I like the mission system as it is it's the same as tiny wings which is probably my favourite endless game of all time. I played a bit of wide open today as the art style in this reminded me of that. I've had the game crash a couple of times on the tap to continue menu, on both occasions I'd completed two missions and when relaunching the game they hadn't been remembered.
Thanks for all the feedback so far guys. We're listening – just super busy working on things, so apologies for the lack of responses!
I'm on Level 10, and suddenly it seems that backflips have stopped registering (or, at least registering consistently.) I can't clear the goals "Land a double backflip" or "Backflip off a grind", after 20+ attempts and not really having any issues with getting backflips to register on prior levels. Any chance I'm stuck in a buggy state or something? I've force-closed the app, and restarted my iPad- no joy.
actually, now that I watched someone's gameplay video.. I realized that the tricks aren't showing up in the top right anymore, for 'Bunting Grind' etc. I just occasionally get a bunches of points added.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game didn't fix it. Uninstalling, deleting the data from iCloud, and reinstalling fixed it. (This of course means losing your progress.) Just posting this for the dev and anyone else who sees my posts and finds themselves in similar circumstances.
Hey I'm level 19, and the "double backflip off a grind" challenge (which is really tough), isn't registering I've done it twice, but nothing pops up.. It must be a bug. I'm in love with this game. It's definitely my GOTY. Oh, and I'm on an iPhone 5 running its latest ios version. Hmmm I got it after meeting the goal a third time lol.
I am absolutely loving this game so far. The only thing I wish I could control more is the tricks. Adding in some kind of left side swipe right side controls as is for adding in the ability to do different tricks and control different types of grinds. Would add a ton more depth to the smaller jumps in the game. Though even without this the game is amazing. Great job!
My request would be NOT to sully the game with the typical FB and Twitter links and appeals... It will spoil it's superb mood and atmosphere.
