has anyone seen how amazing this combo is? if only Nintendo would release every single game, eShop style, to the iphone...
Well... Nintendo's games are getting progressively worse, so yeah, they're probably lite enough for iPhones by now. Microsoft or Sony though... no chance.
Nintendo 3DS + Phone = Win. Unfortunately Nintendo's CEO isn't pleased with playing video games on phones. OR, we can go with Sony's solution to beating Apple, which is the new Psp 2 (Playstation Vita). If it becomes tremendously successful, continuously adding more games and apps. There should be no problem with Nintendo doing the same, bringing a bigger mobile gaming platform than the 3DS
I really hope the vita does well. The success of that should hopefully step up Nintendo's game (which has been pretty bad lately). I just hope phone's won't dominate the handheld gaming market.
Sony has a two pronged approach, they're releasing the Vita while supporting Andriod as a gaming platform. I'm sure as time goes on they'll move onto iOS and maybe WP7 because unlike Nintendo they're not afraid to branch out onto hardware they don't control. If what I read over on Kotaku is true then at nearly a dozen third party 3DS games have already been canceled or indefinitely delayed, that's a really bad start for the platform. Those aren't minor titles ether, Assassins Creed, Mega Man Legends, Saints Row, Bonk, Bomberman... What the hell do you have to do to be denied a Bomerman title? It's literally on everything!
Sony already has at least one game on iOS: Wheel of Fortune. It's half decent, if you like Wheel of Fortune, though the online was always wonky. As far as Nintendo, I think they still release some fine games. Sure, some bad ones, but some good stuff too.
"Some" being the operative word there I can't honestly say the same word contributed to my fine collection of quality 360 and PS3 titles.
It's not like all of Sony and Microsft's exclusives are made of gold ether. The Uncharted series are great interactive narratives but they kind of suck as games, I'm still kind of angry that single player was dropped from the first Warhawk and I wouldn't touch the Halo franchise with a 20 foot pole.
That Uncharted line is totally unrelatable to me. It sounds like you haven't played them as the entire appeal and most of the praise comes from the fact that it's one of the only series that manages to successfully combine narrative with gameplay seamlessly, rather than going too far in either direction, a la Heavy Rain. Almost all of the storytelling is done while you're knee-deep in excellent gameplay. You're right though, not all exclusives are gold, but that doesn't matter when I've got 100 PS3 games and 10 Wii games. There's still an obvious winner there.
I haven't played both of them but I did waste $50 on Uncharted 2 which I felt was one of the biggest wastes of money I've spent on a game this generation. The actual gameplay falls flat IMO regardless of how well it's sown together.
