Thanks guys, I'm very glad you like it! @psj3809 Jetpac was the inspiration for this (which will be obvious from the video I hope) but it's my own take on it (which will be obvious from the video I hope!) There's lots of little homages to the games I used to play in SOS. One of the things I have really enjoyed while making this is that there is so much stuff in there I can show you screenshots, I can make a video, and there'll *still* be stuff you haven't seen yet that will hopefully surprise and delight people and make them smile Not long to go now with any luck! Thank you ALL for your patience! QS =D
Yeah when i watched the video it seemed like a new/up to date/improved Jet Pac, so then when i saw that retro screen i was glad to see it ! Cant wait to get this, any 'homages' to classic old days and games like JetPac is a huge thumbs up from me
Thank you for the kind words! I had an interesting email chat with someone just the other day about the differences between UK/US retro In the UK, if someone mentions Retro I think ZX Spectrum/C64/BBC Model B/Dragon 32 In the US it's more NES, Magnavox and Atari Which is kinda crazy (because depending on which country you were in, you potentially missed out on playing thousands of games! :O) but it's also kind of cool. I've always loved the Ultimate games such as Jetpac, Atic Atac, Tranz Am, Knightlore, Underwurlde etc etc Making 'my versions' of these games I loved as a kid is really thrilling for me. I hope that I can bring the fun back to those that played the games that inspired me. I really hope I don't let anyone down in that regard :O But additionally, those that *haven't* played them (whether they were too young, or born in the wrong country) get to play something that's hopefully brand new to them. That's very exciting! QS =D
Another quick pic for #screenshotsaturday Meanwhile, I'm getting a bit worried :O Apple made a whole bunch of changes to iTunes Connect recently (the place games go to get reviewed/published by Apple). I've seen some comments from other developers bemoaning the fact that their games have been 'in review' for unusually long times. Usually it takes about a week - some people are on day 10 already... I'm afraid I will be an anxious wreck now till they approve my little game! Hold me! QS =D
By the gods! It's amazing! The pixels! The music! The SHEEP! Hopefully the review doesn't take too long, but things aren't looking too good Foursaken Media had to wait a week for their game to be reviewed, only for it to be rejected because the Apple reviewers "couldn't find the IAPs." Like what? So they've resubmitted and they're almost at another full week of waiting We must stay positive!
Thank you so much for the lovely comments! THE SHEEP! It's so hard to stay enthused about my game when I've been working on it for so, so long. But then I see other people get excited by what they see and I realise it's brand new to them and it might just be my mind playing tricks on me! Yes, the current apparent turmoil happening at Apple Towers is disconcerting to say the least! It's the waiting that's killing me! But hey - I've been using the time till I find out what my game's fate is to... make more games! I couldn't help it. Last weekend I decided to have a break from SOS and to relax, I started on something new The new game's just a prototype, but I'm hoping that it'll be a relatively fast development process. So expect it in 2019 Sir, you are far too kind as always. The way you enthused about the original Air Supply made me SO happy. Seriously, it was wonderful to see and for me, in the literal sense, unforgettable! Thank you! QS =D
Boooooooo Hey guys, hope you're all well! Some bad news I'm afraid. Apple rejected my app "We found that Game Center has been enabled for your app but there are no Game Center features within the app." I present 'Exhibit A' which kind of proves otherwise: Can YOU spot the Game Center stuff? This is very silly, and I'm really really sorry about this I've already uploaded my game but it's in 'processing' right now - This is a new thing introduced last week I think, so I have no idea how long that will take. To resubmit I need the processing thingy to complete. I'll give it an hour, then I'm off to bed as it's almost 6am here - will try tomorrow if I have no luck :O Again, I'm really sorry about this. As a few of you know, Apple has been a bit 'odd' lately with games submitted to them. I mean, the game HAS Game Center in it - I can't imagine how they missed it. I've no idea WHEN the game will be out at this point. It's a bit frustrating and disappointing to say the least for me. And I'm sorry if this has made you feel the sam way. It's not fun Sorry! QS
I am actually a little sad about that but all good things......... Keeping me on tenterhooks. Fingers crossed for this time next week. Good use of the word sam too.
It is what it is. I imagine all kinds of stuff is happening at Apple these days, what with the new phones and watches and such. Did anyone else try to watch the first half of the keynote? Apparently even Apple makes mistakes from time to time.
It's really bloody depressing, so I know full well how you feel. I'm really sorry about it. I am having to re-learn some of the submission stuff, and I'm extremely confuzzled by it all Which is why I'm not even going to try and guess when it'll be out. It's so frustrating. The game's done. It works. But I can't get it out to you guys yet It turns Game Center on and off. Some people don't actually care about GC (crazy I know!) and so like to turn it off. It's there as an option - trying to please everyone as usual! :O Thanks for your understanding. It's all just making me feel a bit helpless and frustrated, which is no fun at all I liked the chinese translation going on during some of the keynote. But then it felt like someone was hovering behind me speaking in tongues at me while I was trying to listen! Sorry all. I'm just a bit down today. I'll try and perk up QS =D
It honestly helps with the anticipation. We may get it as Scotland gets Independence. Perfect timing.
That sucks, man. They can be all over the place. I had a game not accepted because there was no pause button or volume control options! I left it out on purpose as the game was a rapid fire game that rounds only lasted a few seconds. Reaching for pause would end your chances. Anyway, since when do Apple get to make our design choices for us?
Normally I'd agree and say it helps with the anticipation if you hadn't all been anticipating the game since February. That's a long, long time! On the plus side, people that have played it have said it's fun, so I hope you'll think so to! And thanks to you, and everyone else for your patience! You're saints, the lot of you! Also, I'm not sure it'll be out by the time Scotland goes solo. I don't want to mention *any* dates at this point as I have no idea *when* it'll be out. Which is a shame as 148apps just gave the game a mention on their blog, which is lovely - but also just make me think 'bugger - by the time it's out, people may have forgotten it!' Always a dark cloud for every silver lining, eh? I've sent a third version to Apple with extensive review notes, so as soon as I know you will be the very first people I tell! (after twitter, probably!) It's not been a problem so far (and this is my 14th game) - I just think I got caught in the middle of them transitioning to a new system, so things went a little FUBAR I kinda like that they care enough to have standards, especially in UI design. I'm thinking developers need to actually make use of the review notes now (something I never did before) just to point out our own design decisions and how changing them might affect the actual game. It's a constantly changing landscape alas :O QS =D
