I'm back in the 30's now. Specifically 38. I'm actually frustrated to the point of almost hating the game (please don't let tha bother you). Yet I love the game so much too. I think this is probably the point where I need to quit, and then come back later and just try to finish one or so levels per day before I get burned out. I'm all for tough games but when an asteroid is crashing, a ship is on the screen, lasers are creating baricades in two directions, enemy explosions are shooting at you and your air is quickly depleting even with the air boost perk... Well it's almost too much to handle. I can't imagine getting past this let alone in the 40's in one life. Hat is off to Andy as usual. Almost more frustrating than that is sometimes I'll be down to one health and I'll hit the ship and actually get in and it starts to take off yet I die anyway and thus the game ends despite being in the ship with it launching. Of sometimes pausing the game I'll notice my health is gone when I unpause as if something (maybe being hit as I tap the pause button?) is repeatedly damaging me. I so love this game. It's old school arcade gaming bliss. But maybe it's more than even an old diehard gaming vet like me can handle.
That sounds reasonable! I'd keep playing a bit at a time and unlock perks. When you unlock a new planet, instead of continuing, check your perks and see what's unlocked. Try them out - experiment That you're describing my game and made me excited while reading all that is just awesome! You will - but Andy can see things before they happen. So he has a slight advantage That sounds like some very very close calls there - it can happen that you get on the ship *just* as your air runs out. So the ship thinks you're ok, but you're actually not. What a callous ship! I'm a diehard gaming vet like you. I made this for me. Ergo, I made it for you That loads of others like it too is awesome! You'll get better at it, honest. And the more you play, the more perks you'll unlock, and you can try out different combinations which might help you! For example, if you want to feel *really* unstoppable, I find 'No Fly Zone' and 'For Those About To Rock' really useful Indeed, the perks you use will change depending on what you're trying to do. Getting through all the levels in one go will require a different combination to if you're going for a high score! I really hope you continue to enjoy it, and that it gets easier to play, even for old sheep like you and me QS =D
Oh man, when I'm just focusing on beating Waves I equip those 2 perks and feel like such a badass. If anyone is interested I can try to make some kind of gameplay video; I'm no expert but it might give you some tips. Unfortunately I'm still having a problem with Reflector (I believe it's an iOS 8 issue) so any video I make would have to be done without sound.
It's really something special isn't it? BUT - I hope there's enough perk combinations to suit different people's play styles. For example, some people might find UFOs a pushover, but might really hate the teleporters... There's a perk for that etc... No pressure at all, but I do love watching other people playing my games. I don't know what it is. I guess, maybe, it's seeing how people 'get it'? Or just seeing someone do something differently. I really don't know how to describe it, but I do LOVE to see it! QS =D
Waves 31-40 Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Apologies for the awful quality of the video, that's why I haven't made many of late.
I'm only at left perk #4 "Sure Shot" and right perk #3 "Shield Time X 2" which is what I've been using. I was using left #1 for the extra air but figured I'd give 4 another try and start over at 30. What are the numbers/positions for 'No Fly Zone' and 'For Those About To Rock'? Also what are the requirements for unlocking new perks? Infinite and 1bit Run were both pretty straight forward in telling you how much was left till the next unlock was triggered... with 1bit Run being straight up specific what you needed to collect to unlock the next perk in a specific category (Stars for Characters, distance for locations... etc). I see in help that Stars here also unlock characters and air unlocks music, but nothing specific for the perks. Are perks purely based on Sheep collecting? If so maybe I should start a new game with the "All Aboard" perk to help make that go a little faster.
Hello! Sorry I haven't replied sooner - got back a little while ago from taking the Mothersheep for an ear checkup Thank you Andy for making the vid - I know there's no sound, but it's lovely to see how you play. I like that you try and stay near the middle (or it looks like that to me, anyway) - I don't do that, myself. Maybe I'd be better at it if I did? Also, I was yelling 'Get the Asteroid! GET the ASTEROID! GET THE ASTEROID!' at one point Seriously, I will watch this about 100 times Nice take-down of Harrison too Thanks again! QS =D
Hello! They come a bit later on - NFZ is Left 6, FTATR is Right 8 It's purely the amount of sheep you unlock. Every 60 sheep saved gets you a new perk unlocked When you first see the Perks screen (and haven't selected one) rather than show you what the perk does (as you haven't unlocked any) it tells you that you need to save more sheep to unlock perks! The 'All Aboard' perk was designed primarily to help you get sheep slightly quicker by needing more to get off the planet. As a bonus, it gives you a slight score boost (as you're saving more sheep per planet) and you also get a nicer looking ship that actually moves and turns faster in the space sections! Hope that helps! QS =D
Yep that's what I needed to know. Thank you! Now to find some time to save more sheep! I don't think I'm going to go back into the 30's until I'm busting at the seams with perks.
Back from hols, haven't missed the crappy British weather but have missed this place Dloading update now, I'm gonna have a read through the. It's of thread I've missed, I've skimmed the last couple of oages but you guys can talk so I've got a lot still to read. @andy I've got everything crossed for you too, hope it's good news on the job front.
Welcome back. ... I notice now on the end level screen the count down towards the next perk/character/etc is there. I've gone ahead and restarted with the perk for extra sheep. I'm gonna skip the bonus levels and just play for sheep and stars. So, more grinding... EDIT: Grinding... grinding... saving the sheep... Now I have "No-Fly Zone" unlocked. I can see how that will help. Now back to grinding for the other perks. Gonna stick with "All Aboard" and "Star Power" for now as they have the most benefit to unlocking stuff. I think I'm nearly done unlocking characters too since I've been using "Star Power" for most of the time I've played it since the update. EDIT2: I wonder ... the sheep are sheered at the beginning of the game while the Mothersheep watches. The sheep are sent over the edge all bald yet in game as they fall from the sky they have their hair/wool again. Strangeness. Stranger still, naked sheep have eyebrows! I knew I should have payed attention in school
WOot! Characters complete! PM Sent. ... Now just 4 more perks and I'll have the collecting side of the game done. Maybe then I'll be able to complete the 30's.
And replied to! Congrats! I'll put up a spoiler tagged way to get the extra character for others to get tomorrow QS =D
Nice. I decided the one hit asteroid option wouldn't be as helpful to me as slowing all enemies by a third. Between that and the one to one hit kill spaceships I finished the 30's, 40's, 50's a d the start of the 60's. Maybe I'll actually be competition after all. Its amazing how a few perks can make a game go from almost too frustrating to epic.
Coolies! This is just one of the hardest things about my job that I love when it comes together. I want lots of people to play and enjoy my games, obviously! But I also want to put some challenge in there too! Getting the balance right is never easy (and my play testers certainly helped with that!). I'm glad you're back to having fun with it I am not the greatest game designer in the world, but it's lovely when something you came up with actually does what it's supposed to! Thanks for the kind comments! QS =D
Well done night. I used the asteroid with one hit and the spaceship with one hit really helped me. I've not messed about with the others too much yet with regards to high scores but that will be fixed today I hope. There's only an hours time difference between the uk and Spain but it messes me up every time lol, can't imagine what real jet lag must be like.
Welcome back! I did promise yesterday I'd reveal how to get the secret character, so if you fancy it, here it is: Spoiler Hello! So, the steps are: 1. Start the game 2. On the intro screen, tap the planet in the top right corner 3. You should see something/hear a sound 4. On the title screen, below the Twitter button, there's a 'Wolf' symbol. 5. Tap the wolf 6. This is the 'secrets' screen 7. Tap the name under 'Secret Characters' 8. Ta-da! Have fun! QS =D
