Well you should automatically unlock the next planet. Here's a counter on the bottom with a. Planet icon and you unlock the next every time it reaches zero. The counter counts your distance and is consistent through all you games. Go to options and tap the planet there and see if it changes
Yikes! How about some tips from the guy who made it Firstly, smart bombs are your friend! As well as destroying enemies, they give you up to 4 air back. So, if you've got 6 air and use a smart bomb, you'll get no extra air. If you're below 4 air and use one, your air will go up to 4. The moral of that tip is to use your smart bombs for emergencies. Additionally, there can only be one 'air' pickup on-screen at once. So if you've missed one, you have to wait till it's gone off-screen before another will appear. Try and use your smart bomb when you'll be able to easily pick up extra air asap (as opposed to picking up air and THEN using a smart bomb). Here's an example: You're running around and have 2 air left. You see an air pickup coming down that you're confident you'll get. If you pick up the air your supply will go up to 3. Use a smart bomb and it'll go up to 4. If instead you use the smart bomb first you'll get your air supply up to 4. Then if you pickup the air straight after you're on 5 air. Every little helps! Additionally, let's talk about jumping. Depending on your speed, you can jump and clear the alien when you're about a quarter of the planet away from them. If you find you're jumping for air and then landing in the path of the alien, try NOT jumping for the air. You should be able to grab it on your next rotation around the planet, hopefully avoiding the alien in the process! Avoiding the alien is key as he will set you back (you may have noticed the background changing and the level marker on the far right of the screen going up as you progress). Hitting an alien will lose you one unit of air and will set you back on that level progress. The longer you avoid an alien, the more you'll progress through the 'levels' till you reach the void and can grab an infinity cup. Infinity cups will reset your air to full and teleport you to the next planet (and if you haven't unlocked the next planet, it'll unlock automatically). I did try and take into account that people might find this a bit tricky which is why you can also unlock planets just by reaching the unlock distance (its' the number under the planet symbol on the play screen). Finally, UFOs and Asteroids can't directly harm you. They can confuse you by a) trapping you in their tractor beam and b) reversing your direction If you can survive these without using a smart bomb, and use the smart bombs strategically, it might help! Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on! QS =D
Haha I think your post has more lasting value! I just love seeing your posts and how they get longer and longer because it just really shows your dedication to your work, and it's something you don't see that much (not that other Devs are less dedicated, just that your activity in the community shows something more).
Making a game is work. But talking about the game? With people that gave it a chance? That's just plain fun QS =D
I've unlocked a few but not got teleported yet, I'll try all these tips out tomorrow, if I fire the game up now il not get to sleep lol.
Sleep is important! (apparently!) Let me know how you get on, and out of interest, what's the furthest level you've got to? As in, on the right hand side, how far up that bar have you got?. (I'm secretly hoping it's not far so you'll have lots of lovely background stuff to look forward to!) Also, glad to see that not getting a cup hasn't hindered you getting new planets! That was really important to me when designing the unlocks, so I'm glad it seems to work I'm upgrading all my stuff (OS and Xcode) so I'll be offline for a bit! Trying to get the original AS for MAC sent to Apple today so I can get back to the iOS version. Cya on the other side! QS =D
Just bouncing around from thread to thread, but have to say, this is a really sweet exchange. Reminds me of why I love opportunities like TA. Cheers! DBC
You're very welcome! I hope it kinda proves there's some depth/strategy in there somewhere Come on in, the water's lovely! I wish I could make games faster so I can come back here and chat with you guys more. This game took around 4 months to make - during that time I don't really participate on forums (though I do still read them!) because it can be really time consuming and I am trying to work hard! I am on twitter a lot, because it's a very fast way of communicating! Once a game's done though, the next month is spent finding out what people think, fixing bugs and sometimes, very rarely, taking a day off here and there And that means coming here. This is the main place. I've always found the community here eager to find something new and fun, and usually they're very kind too. Sometimes people just don't get it though, and that's fine too. Everyone has their own tastes and their own opinions, and it's useful to hear it all really, even if it's not always nice But the people in this thread 'get it' - and they care. The thread gets buried every day, and yet they still find it and bother to post. Along with Twitter, it's a wonderful way to interact with people, and you can be a lot more verbose here too. As I've ably demonstrated on numerous occasions! QS =D
Sorry, this didn't register with me yesterday but I noticed your new high score today. It seems it'll post if you beat your old high score, but won't post the 'current' one. I'll look into fixing that for everyone else! (also because I have to beat my score of 52k now for it to show up on the leaderboards ) If you're a new player though, it should just work 72 cups so far! Sir, you're playing the hell out of my little game! Thank you Just wanted to mention that Omen Mas, at the black hole, Oxygene for music and DISCO for colours is my fave combo. Play that in a dark room - trust me QS =D
Yep - played the hell out of the first air supply and I'm loving this one too. Just something about them that clicks with me. The music is phenomenal but the mix of simplicity, and the fact that getting a high score is a mix of skill and luck with the unlocks coming through playing and not paying I just love both air supply games. Just damn good fun with nods here and there to other games and devices. I tried one game on disco a week ago. M.E.N.T.A.L.
Just died on 41,00 with 44,000 being my top score. An air drop and a bomb were right there! So near, yet so far. Ah well, there's always tomorrow. Goodnight, folks. Sheepydreams.
I don't know what to say other than 'thank you' - That's so lovely to hear and I'm so glad you like the games! I will add: Get an iPad next year. I just 'wasted' three hours playing Air Supply: SOS - not testing, not working, just playing. If you liked the previous games, you might like that one too (when I finally finish it!). That's a fabulous score! It's crazy when you think about it - all you're doing is going round and round, and yet people are enjoying it! A couple of guys I follow on twitter do a podcast which you can find here - http://www.superrad.podbean.com Episode srp#19 about 38 minutes in they mention Air Supply Infinite and how it's bloody addictive despite the fact you're running in circles! It's worth a listen! Just finishing off the Mac version of the original AS, then will spend the weekend on the iPhone version. Sheepydreams indeed! QS =D
Damn! Going to have to try and beat both of those scores now and I see doctor funkleberry has overtaken me in cups too. I also have my new iPad Air wait for Air Supply - SOS. Fantastic stuff.
Haha, Doctor Funkleberry, what a great name. It'd be about 7 times more awesome if he were an actual Doctor! Air Supply - SOS: me and my iPad Mini 2 are ready. EDIT: I noticed its Mr Funkleberry, not Dr. Still cool, though.
