Sooooo, this game is tough. I suck pretty bad. But, I'm definitely enjoying it!

I was groaning inside for a second thinking I had to beat all 8 planets in one run, so I was glad when I found out that isn't true.

I'll drop back in here and there this week with more impressions. Definitely looking forward to unlocking color!

Glad you got to play it early and you're enjoying it!

Here's some tips from earlier in the thread - they might help a bit!

Let me know how you get on!

I hadn't understood the unlock instructions before (because I was dumb and didn't read the instructions page), but now that I get it, I think this game has one of the best unlock systems out of any game I've played on iOS!

I've had a few glitches and crashes, but none right before winning a planet (thank goodness!) I've had the game crash related to looking at the info screen then starting a new game, one random crash in the middle of playing, and then a few times the alien and Spaceman Sam have gotten stuck (the both just quit moving forward), usually right after a UFO has stopped me.

Other than those minor glitches, this is definitely the game I'm coming back to the most right now (and I installed Colossatron and Cut the Rope 2 at the same time as this one).

Wow! Thanks - I'm glad you like it! I did detail how I worked it all out earlier in this thread - it's fab people like it! :D

Yep - these are known issues - I've tried to improve the 'running still' bug but it may still happen. The crashes I've also talked about in this thread. It pains me that this happens, and I've not forgotten about all this - it'll just take some time to fix!

I'm very happy that you're still enjoying the game though, despite these flaws!

I honestly don't know what to say other than 'thank you'. That is high praise indeed!

Especially as this is a 'made at home' game. Literally. Me. Sat in my kitchen. Night after night. Making fun stuff.

    I love it!

    Hey all,

With Apple shut down till after Xmas, and with a horrible cold as a present from the British weather, I may be around a bit less!

I just wanted to thank you all again - you have been lovely!

If you're into the whole 'social media' thingy, do please consider following me!

On twitter you can find me @quantum_sheep - this is a real mix of stuff - I generally chat about my games, retrogames, games in general, game design, film, tv, sci-fi etc etc. It is the home of many sheepyhugs, and some of you may appreciate the 140 character limit ;)

On Facebook I tend to generally just talk about my games really. So if you want a more filtered approach, please consider giving my page a 'like' here: https://www.facebook.com/Quantumsheepgames

So, all that's left is to wish you all a merry Xmas if you observe that, and happy holidays in general!

    Holidays are good!

    Speak soon, and thanks again!

Merry Christmas - it's been a real pleasure. I got 99 cups and saving that final one for tonight.
Have a great Christmas and all the best for 2014.
    Keep it sheep.

Quick edit: just got the ton - and mister funkleberry has just gotten two tonnes. I'll go for one more - achievement didn't unlock but then none of them have on my 5S for any game.

I couldn't help myself. I did some calculations...

I timed a perfect run - start to cup, no hits from an alien. It took about four minutes.

This means that if you'd played perfectly every time you got a cup, you'd have played for over six hours non-stop to get 100.

Mister Funkleberry has played for over 13 hours :O

This doesn't take into account all the times you've died and not got a cup.

To me, that's pretty amazing. To you, no doubt a bit disturbing ;)

I thought/hoped the game would be fun and addictive, but knowing people have sunk some serious time into such a simple idea is a bit wonderful.

As they used to say on old arcade machines, "Thanks for playing!"

    :D

    Merry Xmas you lot! :D

Hope you're all having a lovely day!

Did you get lots of presents? Anything good? ;)

My brother gave my dad his old iPhone 4, and first thing I did was put my game onto it for him!

He's pretty useless at it to be honest. Bless!

I got a bunch of iTunes vouchers and bought 'Hexels', which is a cool little art thingy for the Mac - I made this in two minutes:

I can never stop working when I'm having fun ;)

Looking forward to Doctor Who later tonight, and Xmas lunch of course with the family!

Hope you have a great day!

Haha I saw that post and was hoping it would be stuff being used in SOS, but glad to see you had fun at least.

I'm on the road to my grandparent's house :/ At least I'm not driving haha

I got some cool wooden comic book cover wall art for use at the office. An old Batman and Spider-Man, plus a mid-90s Green Lantern.

In other news, I'm creeping my way up the leaderboards. I finished all 8 planets with Spaceman Sam, so I'm getting warmed up with Gerty. And I have my eye on the #5 spot on cups collected, so watch out world!

How is furthest distance counted? Game Center says my best is 3,333 (which is a suspicious number), but the game says it's 13,496.

Oooh! That sounds pretty awesome! Gotta love them superheroes! Have you got a link or something - would love to take a look :)

Heh, awesome! Do you have all the colours yet? I imagine you do :D

I noticed Mister F has about 270 cups - which is just flabbergasting really. There's always one crazy one, right? ;)

Well, it works as you'd think it would - when you beat your furthest run it should update on GC.

I updated the game to try and get it to work a bit better as it didn't always work - and it's still a problem it seems (though the cups work fine! Yay!)

I'm a bit suspicious that it might be an iOS7 issue - I'm really not sure, but the logic is sound as far as I can tell (I've been wrong before of course!)

Additionally I've noticed a few other things - mainly that if you're not already connected to GC then certain things like score updates or achievements may not unlock properly.

It's very weird. Other people's games seem to have been having a few issues too with GC (I noticed a few updates include references to achievements and stuff not working in the notes).

It's not an excuse, and it's certainly something I'll be keeping my eye on!

I've had a few family/friends obligations over Xmas and the holidays, but will be back to work on Monday!

Here are the Batman and Spider-Man ones. They're actually going up at home (the wife is letting me hang them in the laundry room). The Green Lantern one is at work. It's issue 51 from the 3rd volume, if you really want to do the legwork to see it.

I may or may not have all the colors. The last one I got is red.

Also, now (assuming no one else is having my issues) I should be rocking #5 on the furthest run leaderboard. 16833km now!

Edit: It's been a good day for me. 23,316km now. I'm coming for you, QS.

    Ah!

Call me crazy, but I was imagining a wood carving of some sort!

Those look bloody nice though! For my 30th birthday my friend framed 2 Batman comics for me!

They don't look quite as cool as your xmas presents, but they were both issues from the year of my birth :D

You'll know when you get to the end of the colours - DISCO is the last one :D

    Quick Update

    Hey all, hope you're well!

I'm a bit snowed under right now, but wrote a blog post about what I'm up to here: http://quantum-sheep.com/2014/01/happy-new-year-d-3/

Also, my friend Mister Beep (some of you may have unlocked him in Infinite!) has released a new album for free:

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/showthread.php?p=746069#post746069

You can expect to hear some of those tracks in an Air Supply game someday! :D

Anyway, back to SOS for me! Busy busy Sheepy!

    Toodles!

You're welcome! Thanks for taking the time to read that!

I'm trying to work out how to keep in touch with you all and let you know what I'm up to - linking to that post seemed like a good idea!

I recently told someone on Twitter that if I made two games a year, and died at 100, I'd have died with hundreds more games unfinished :(

I really need to make games faster ;)

SOS - as universal with MFi controller optional controls would probably make my 2014.
    Happy New Year, QS.

Thanks! Happy New Year to you too!

Enough people have asked for SOS to be universal that that's what I'll aim for!

    Thanks!

It all takes me so long, I'll be lucky to get just two of them made!

It's a shmup... kind of... PLEASE DON'T DIE!!!

    Still here? PHEW!

If you're imagining a vertical or horizontal shooter then you'd be wrong. I'd love to make something like that though for sure! :)

It's more a shmup collect 'em up. A shmollect'em up if you will.

Sorry! That's awful! Shoot me now! :O

It's based on one of the first Spectrum games my brother and I ever got, and I've not seen anyone try it on iOS yet (to my knowledge).

UK retroheads will see the inspiration straight away :)

Here's a thought. I'll see how far I get by the end of January, and if I'm getting on well, I'll start a thread up with a screenshot or two in the upcoming games thingy!

    Sound good?

    Thank you guys *sheepyhugs*
