Afterplace is an adventurous indie game for mobile devices. It's a huge open world, full of hidden secrets, treasures, and creatures. You'll run around the woods, fight monsters, and talk to ostensibly shady characters! All from your pocket! Be warned though - you never know what the forest might be hiding, and not all trails are paved. Labyrinths and dungeons are tucked away in the most concealed nooks. There are no waypoints in Afterplace. You'll have to forge your own path. Afterplace has been designed from the ground up to be a fast, fluid, beautiful experience for mobile. There are no virtual buttons. You can move and attack by touching anywhere. You can tap objects directly to interact or attack, or use two thumbs like a traditional controller. The game will adapt dynamically to your play style. Pick up and set down the game at your own pace, it will always save your progress. Afterplace is made to feel like a full-fledged indie adventure game that fits in your pocket. About the Author: Afterplace is made by one person, Evan Kice. A former software engineer from Austin TX, Evan quit his job (to the dismay of his friends and family) and has been working full time on Afterplace since early 2019. The initial game released in December of 2022, but Evan plans on continuing to support and polish the game when he can! Like member ‚squarezero ‘ I just wanted to make a short test run and ended up playing it for 3 hours. Many games throw big words into their game descriptions, but this is for real a huge open world, full of hidden secrets, treasures, and creatures. It‘s so well put together and so charming and filled with so many little details it blows my mind how this all can fit into 199Mb file size. And the fighting system is superb and even has i-frames during dogding mechanic. Afterplace is not only made with great love, it‘s also made with a lot of skill. And a big thanks to the dev for not littering the screen with any virtual buttons. rslowe, Alex DeLargest, Lull4by and 2 others like this. The world is awesome, the combat is fun (it’s not as challenging, but it reminds me of Tunic), but what makes this special for me are the almost perfect balance between open and purposeful exploration, and some of the best NPC interactions I’ve ever experienced in a game. It pays to talk to NPCs time and time again — it’s not just that they have more to say, their lives are changed by your interactions (don’t ignore the troll on the bridge ). This is the kind of mobile game that should make console and PC gamers jealous. According to the website, the game will be making it to other platforms eventually, but I’m so glad that Evan chose to debut it on mobile. BTW landscape mode is in the works and the game already supports controllers. rslowe and Anotherkellydown like this. solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 903 285 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #8 solarnya, Dec 11, 2022 I just bought this and surprised at its potential. But I got stuck at the end of the game (i hope it’s the end) and couldn’t find out how to progress any further. Maybe you can help me find a solution. Spoiler I’m at a point in the game where the floating island did break apart and everyone from town is in the library and waiting for me to find a door to evacuate all. The map is different and a bit smaller but more confusing. I searched all places for doors in the island and the dream sequence worlds but I couldn’t find the door anywhere. The mouse always tells me to search for doors in places I have never searched before. But this hint doesn’t help at all. I got quite frustrated in the end, because the game had such a nice flow up to this. But without your hint I would never have finished it. The frustration grows too big to search again and again every inch of the isle. The game gives really at the end no help. And even with your hint I was shortly before giving up because the labyrinth is so confusing. It was just pure luck to find the right way. I hope the dev will change this last part a bit, cause there is no greater frustration than to invest so much time and then to give up. It just needs a bit more hints in the end and the game would be perfect. For me it was 2 hours searching for a five minute end fight. William Hououin likes this.
