Yea I'm very excited about this. I've been waiting to do something like this since I was a kid and the iPad seems like the perfect platform combined with the ATF game systems. I have a meeting tonight with the server developer I'll be sure to keep you guys updated and try to get him on here too a little bit down the road for any questions.
Hey guys the meeting went great and the development is underway. I plan on using most of the systems from the other games (combat, crafting, leveling, etc...) so those familiar will be able to pickup the game pretty easily. As for content there will be some overlap (monsters, items, skills) but a lot more new stuff to fill out the world. Once I have a working copy up I will be creating a new games post and looking for testers. The server itself is pretty complete because it was used for another game at one time but we will be adding ATF systems and content to it so things are closer than starting from scratch.
Not much going on in this thread for awhile but just wanted to chime in that I am finding this game more interesting than I expected...digging the way all these classes can weave together to create an awesome character...I also appreciate that a perfect roll is NOT impossible if you have the patience (I do, apparently). Great work, dev! Any news on the monk? One suggestion for the turn box that shows up if you tap too early...having a signal that it is your turn, like having your character flash, as well as perhaps the attacking enemy flash...or move more, something to indicate because it is hard to follow based on the text sometimes, it goes so fast. This would help the flow of combat because this screen drags things...even if in actual time not much, it effects the flow and the emotional reaction to things. Is there a level cap at 28 or is that just when you have all the skills?
Yes sorry I have been kind of absent but I've been updating a few of my non game apps (the ones that make me money so I can keep making games haha). Not to worry tho I've actually been working on the monk class as well as a apple watch extension. I don't want to give too much away but I think it's very cool. I need to wait to submit until I actually get a watch so I can be sure all is working correctly (I only trust the simulator so much). Anyways it's going to be great and I'm excited to show everyone! As for your suggestion I've been looking at a way to adjust it so everyone is happy and that sounds like a good idea so I'll add it to the notes. Level cap is 30? At that point you get another Stam but that's about it. You pretty much wreak everything! Glad you are enjoying the game and let me know if you have any other questions or comments!
Ive hit a little bit of a speed bump with the database and porting to the watch app. Turns out they can not access the same/current database unlesss i make a copy of it for the watch app and even then there a sync issues =/. This is good and bad news. This means the monk and new races will be out a bit earilier but also means this game will not be coming to the watch (even though I had sweet ideas for it). I will however be creating a new phone/watch app that will hopefully take advantage of all the stuff I want to do. A little setback but when you are a solo indie dev its a learning process i guess haha.
I just want to give this a top for the audiogames.net players who are looking for this informational post.
Ive decided to take a little break from building my new game and do a much needed update for this game. The update was spurred by support from audiogames.net community (games for the blind) that has taken a liking to my game but needs a few small fixes to be fully playable. Anyways I already had the monk class and halfling race almost done before I started that new project so it shouldnt be too long before I can finish up this update. Here is a quick glance at the monk class: Fury Focus Monk Your third consecutive attack in a row hits for double.(Passive) Energize Monk A buffing skill that grants an extra attack. Spirit Strike Monk A physical attack with a high hit rate. Mend Monk A minor healing spell that uses no stamina. Inner Rabbit Monk A buffing skill that raises agi and wisdom. Mind Control Monk A debuffing skill that lowers enemy strength, agility and wisdom. Cobra Strike Monk A strong physical attack with a high chance to poison. Restore Monk A skill that heals equal to the amount last dealt to you. Dragon Strike Monk A strong physical attack with a high random factor. Inner Stone Monk A buffing spell that raises armor and blocks chance. These skills may change but hopefully this gives you an idea of how the class works. You will want to focus on high agility and crit chance to maximize damage as well as using some tactic when casting spells since it will reset your damage hits in a row factor. There are a few other bug fixes going in and maybe 1 more race but otherwise this update is pretty close to done I am hoping to submit in about 1-2 weeks if testing and all goes well.
Finalizing skills for the monk class and halfling/troll races. Have the new skills all coded so will spend the weekend testing over everything. Hopefully I can have the update submitted by next weekend. Thanks for the support guys!
Just wanted to give you a heads up I have the monk class and halfling / troll races added and tested. Hey guys good news the monk, halfling and troll update just hit the store and is live. The halfling race is a free race and the monk class is unlockable for free with a secret code like last time so post here if you want the code and I'll message it to you. Thanks for the support guys and if you have time a rating / review on the App Store would help a ton since I lose all the ones when I update.
Hey TouchMint! I know it has been quite some time since my last post but I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I am currently loving the Monk Class and Troll Race!!! You may or may not remember that I was endeavouring to beat the game with 0 deaths and I strongly believe that a Troll Monk is the class I am going to do it with... That class and race combination just really suit my preferred play style so I really thank you for including these new additions. Please keep up the excellent work with ATF. I want more classes, more races and more Arenas!!! Hope you're going well, champ. Syn
Hey Syn great to hear from you again! Glad you picked up the update and are enjoying it. Monks can be pretty powerful when they get their hit rate up since the combo doubles damage which I'm sure you have seen. The roll race too might be a little op but that's what makes it fun huh? Haha. Anyways this might be the last update for a little while since I've started on the sequel (I actually took a break from it to update this game one last time so blind people could play the game). Anyways hope you like it and keep me updated on your quest to be it without dieing! Thanks again for all the support guys and if you have time I'd love a refreshed rating / review on the App Store since I lose all those after an update .
Hey TM! Yah, I am definitely finding Monks and especially Troll Monks to be far and away the most sustainable class. They may not do the most damage in a consistent sense, no where near it in fact, but their survivability has meant that, for me at least, they simply wear their opponents down and come out victorious every time That is a bit of a shame that we will not be seeing any further updates for this iteration of ATF but I am very much looking forward to the next instalment in your series. I can tell you, that among all the games that I have downloaded for my iPhone 5, all have been deleted bar one - yours! I really believe that you have developed a game that really provides the action, pace, intricacy and complexity that I am looking for in a mobile game. The game can very easily be picked up and played but, to truly master it takes time and dedication. Snaps to you for the incredible end result of your efforts! I very much look forward to your next game, TouchMint. Even though I will only start playing it once I have 100%'d this one Keep us updated with your progress, champ! Syn
Yea once you get dragon strike and hit it on that double fury attack you might change your mind about not the most damage haha. The revive that heals for the last amount damaged is pretty great to when it lands right. Anyways the next game is set in the future but has some great fantasy roguelike elements. If you played the original ATF quest to the core it's more like that with exploration rather than just combat. Anyways when things get closer I'll make a post on the upcoming games forum. Again thanks for the support you've really kept me going on the game it's player support that really drives the content.
For those of you who missed the download code for the illusionist simply Go to create a character and in the name field type "TouchArcadeCode" then select the Illusionist and you should get a message saying it was unlocked. You can rename the character after that and it will be unlocked from then on enjoy!
