So I made it to the Frozen Arena undefeated with my twinked Wizard, dinging LVL 26 right after defeating Thanatos! During that play through I encountered maybe 2 or 3 genuinely difficult battles, namely in the Desert and Dark Path Arena's. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience, with the Wizard proving to be a very capable class - albeit with twinked items at his disposal. I can't say that there were encounter's that proved to be too difficult or that needed balancing due to them being too easy. It was a fairly straight forward play through with the knowledge of each encounter gained from previous play throughs. Thanatos did not prove to be overly difficult but throwing Energy Blasts, one after the other, in any enemy's direction quickly made light work of them. Thanatos dropped 1 x Bottled Stamina and the Shroud of Death. I am not sure what else his loot table comprises of but I actually chose not to use the Shroud of Death for my Wizard as it doesn't quite have the desired attributes for a Mage class. When I went into the Frozen Arena I was very excited to see what the shop had to offer and was quickly disappointed to see that there is, in fact, no weapon for a Light Type Req. - this was surprising purely due to the fact that each other store had at least one weapon for each Type Req. In general, I was a little disappointed with the amount of gear available for purchase from the Frozen Arena shop. @TouchMint - You have obviously come to this decision based on consideration. Can I ask what prompted you to not offer a potential weapon upgrade for the Light Type Req. classes? I ask this without having continued on through the Frozen Arena so I am not sure as to whether, either Thanatos has the potential to drop a Caster weapon (which would upset me as it did not drop for me), or whether some of the encounters in the Frozen Arena can drop upgrades for each Type Req. past LVL 26. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and I am certain that I will reach the Frozen Arena with each class - hopefully seeing some boss drops that I am yet to get. Again, @TouchMint - If I want to keep my deathless run on my Wizard, would you recommend I don't continue through the Frozen Arena? I have heard that the encounters are particularly difficult and I don't really feel like getting one - shot EDIT:@ TouchMint - So I ventured forth into the Frozen Arena and unfortunately died to to the second encounter against the pair of Winter Wolves due to running out of Mana. Very frustrating but its all a learning experience for future play throughs. I have a little under 50,000 gold to spend on items for future characters and leading on from taking longer looks at the available items in the Frozen Arena shop, I really do wonder whether you made an oversight with the Mithril Wand and made it a Medium Type Req. rather than a Light, which in turn would provide a weapon type for each Type Req. I mean, no class other than a Caster class really wants nothing other than INT and WIS on their weapon. Can you confirm whether this was in fact an error or whether you purposefully left out a Light Type Req. weapon. Cheers, TouchMint! Syn
Glad to see you like the game balance. Getting everything right took a long time and since I was pretty much the only tester it got very hard to judge what is too easy or hard. When you know the game inside and out and developed all the systems it makes things easier thus making it harder to judge for balance haha. To be honest even though I know the game inside and out I've never beaten it without dieing. I think the best I've done is around 15 deaths on a druid leather worker. With that said I'm pretty amazed you have made it so far on characters without dieing. As for the wand yea that's a mistake on my part. I'm trying to figure out a way to change it as well as adding some more ingame items. This current update is already running late so I'm not sure it will make it into this one but its on the list. Things get very very hard in the frost area so don't get too upset. I didn't design it so people could beat it without dieing. While I'm sure it's possible you are going to have a rough time so good luck! As for what Ryan said weaponsmiths end game crafted items are very very good like way better than the shops so you might want to look into making one. Keep in mind they can craft items for all classes on just 1 crafter so it's a good character to have. As for moving over materials in vault sorry it's just not possible with how the database is set up. I had to do a work around to get stacking to work and because of that it's not really an inventory. It's confusing but ya it just won't work without a ton of work its way down on the list atm.
I will be starting a twinked Wizard with the Weaponsmith profession this week. I'm very interested to see how he goes knowing that each potion consumed will also consume a Stamina point and I'm also very excited to see crafted end game weapons... Syn
Well I began my Wizard / Weaponsmith play through tonight and I must say that without the ability to consume potions without consuming Stamina, the game gets very difficult as early as the first third of the Desert Arena - where I actually experienced my first death... My opinion as a result of this is that if a player is endeavouring to progress as far as possible without dying, the Alchemy Profession is by far the most superior profession when it comes to combat efficiency. Yes, obviously gaining access to Professions specific gear is a huge benefit and I will certainly press on to level up my Weaponsmith / Tailor / Armorsmith / Jeweler professions to gain access to these specific pieces of gear but Alchemy is far and away the more superior in relation to how I see the game. Perhaps this is by design or perhaps the consumption of Stamina when consuming potions and flasks needs to be reconsidered. This is not a decision for me to make. What I can say is that, knowing what other difficult encounters await me further in to the play through, I can not see how any other Profession other than Alchemy can have a chance at reaching the Frost Arena without dying. I would like your thoughts on this, TouchMint. My feedback is not a criticism, rather an observation. In my opinion, the most powerful item I have obtained to date are the Boots of Speed and this is simply due to the +1 Stamina the provide. With this line of thought, the restriction on available Stamina due to having to drink, only even 1 potion makes the harder encounters exponentially harder to the point where I am not even sure they could be completed... My 2 cents. Syn
The game was never designed to be completed without a single Death though.. The RNG in the latter Frost arena battles is insane. My first char was a Knight with Armoursmithing and i got up to 120/125. The key to the game as has been said many times is to level up a few characters, gather the best items and transfer them via the vault. If touchmint nerfs things so you can finish it without a single death then when you play the game the way its meant to be played it will be a walk in the park. After battle 110 it gets insanely hard and even with the best of everything you still need a bit of luck!
Very true! While I admire trying to beat it without dieing it would be very hard because it's just not designed that way. Like Ryan said if you could beat it without the best equipment and without dieing there would be no point to replay the game because it would be way too easy. Even with Diablo you had to atleast beat the whole game before unlocking hardcore if I remember correctly. Another thing to think about is that there is a heirloom shop after you beat the game which gives you heirlooms such level 1 +stam items. So maybe give it a shot once you got some of those items. Also once you have access to the illusionist class the frost area becomes a bit easier since you'll be using the monsters own skills and spells against them.
All good points and I agree in a general sense. In light of this new information, I will definitely push on with my LVL 26 Wizard to beat the Frozen Arena. +1 Stamina items inc! Syn
The wizard and cleric are the hardest to finish with, the cleric im yet to finish still! But the wizard is really hard. Try the rogue, druid, or knight!
Hey guys just wanted to give you a quick heads up on the update progress. I'm currently in the final stages of testing and sorry it's taken so long adding a new class takes a ton of balancing effort. To tide you over here's a screen of where I am while testing. Also to thank you guys that have been so helpful on here and all of toucharcade I'll be putting a "code" into the game so toucharcade users can get the new illusionist class for free. I'll post the details once the update hits
Looks and sounds awesome, TouchMint! Thank you for your generosity. I can not wait to try the Illiusionist! Cheers! Syn
Not sure if posting the entire initial post of this forum thread to simply provide your feedback on ATF was necessary..? Just a thought, bud. Syn
Haha I dont mind the top. Anyways after another all nighter i just submitted the latest update to Adventure To Fate. Hopefully this update goes through a bit faster than the last. I will post the full update notes once I finalize them. Thanks again for the support guys!
All your efforts are very much appreciated, TouchMint! Keep it up! I'm pushing through the Frozen Arena in pursuit of those coveted Heirloom Items! Again, huge thank you, bud! EDIT: @TouchMint - Hey bud, I know this request is probably stretching our friendship a bit But is there anywhere I can go to view the Loot Tables for each encounter within ATF? I personally love seeing that kind of information for games that I play and it would be some seriously enjoyable reading along with providing insight into the potential loot that I have yet to obtain from previously defeated encounters Thanks for your consideration, bud! Syn
Haha Im not sure I want to release all the complete loot tables just because it might take away from the mystery of the game for some. However if you have a question about certain monsters I will give you a straight up answer on a them. Keep in mind there are other factors to drop rate such as luck and maybe even certain races get a bonus =).
Perhaps you could send me those loot tables in a private message or email, TouchMint? I promise it won't ruin the enjoyment I get from the game. It will actually do the opposite - it will allow me to organise myself more thoroughly when approaching play throughs with each character class I appreciate your consideration, bud! Thanks! Syn
Hello everyone! New member here. Been trolling forums on this site for a long time now and I finally created an account. ATFBA is an awesome game and all the great things I have to say about it have probably been said here already. I have cleared the frost arena with the knight and the rogue, and it was quite the challenge! It's very possible though using multiple characters to craft powerful items and transferring those items between all your characters. Both my knight and rogue are leveled to 31, and are quite powerful (dare I say broken?). If anyone needs help on how clear the arena with those characters please let me know. I will also be more than happy to share my equipment and skill customizations if anyone wants. I'm also curious to see how other players customized their characters. Just remember as a knight, INTIMIDATE, DEFEND, and BACKLASH are your best friends. And as a rogue STEALTH and SHADOW FORM before doing anything else. Equip anything that will jack up his crit rate (easier to do if he is a leather worker). In this arena Agility is very important as it effects your hit accuracy and dodge rate. Make sure its at least above 10 (rogue should not have an issue, but it might be tougher for a knight). Oh, and being lucky helps ALOT! Good luck!
Hey thanks for stopping by I think you are going to love it here at toucharcade (I know I do)! Anyways if you guys have any questions this is one of the guys to ask he has done some stuff ingame I didnt even think was possible haha.
