Which island are you at? I real in the top 5 or 10 on each endless map... low scores, to.. methinks there be a bit of cheating for those scores especially with that OP forest boss he or she wipes me out.. miss the +250% rate increased range attack big from beta Switching heroes alot I'd another key for longevity on those especially vs stun enemies..
Promoting heroes seems to take premium currency. So, a core game mechanic requires gems? Is that working as intended?
Gems are not a premium currency... you earn them quite regularly! You get especially large chunks of them based on your daily performance vs the other Companies.
Nice try. Of course they are a premium currency. You pay money to buy them in any significant numbers. I am sure whatever trickle of them you get in game isn't going to be enough to upgrade your characters into the interesting classes with any degree of alacrity. This is a greedy and foolish monetization model. Your putting a cash roadblock into the core mechanic of the game. There is too much great competition on the App Store for me to tolerate these sneaky shenanigans. I'll be getting a refund for what I've spent and deleting your app.
The definition of a premium currency is debatable... but a currency which you earn at a regular rate in game imo is not "premium". Take Heroes and Castles 2 for ex (not sure if you've played it) - that game has one currency that you can also buy packs of... but you also earn plenty of it in-game. In other words, its fairly common so that almost by definition its not "premium", regardless of whether its purchasable or not. Same case here... gems are not rare, you just earn the bulk of them in large chunks after each in-game day. Also, how are you "sure that whatever trickle of them you get in game isn't going to be enough to upgrade your characters into the interesting classes with any degree of alacrity."? - seemingly without having played long enough to even see for yourself, bc actually you DO earn plenty of gems regularly to upgrade your classes all the way to maximum level throughout the course of the game. Not only that, but you automatically get and unlock new higher tier classes just by playing (you get rewarded new characters after certain battles), and there are upgrades you can earn to increase the rate you naturally earn high tier units as well. I'm also genuinely curious so we can tweak balance if necessary (bc we actually try our hardest NOT to have any such roadblocks, which is why we don't typically use energy systems or anything to limit the amount that a player can play) - what is the "cash roadblock" you've come across? Have you not been able to progress past a certain point because you feel you should already be tiering up your units or something? But anyway, thanks for giving the game a shot!
Here are some screenshots of my problem in case they can give someone a clue as to how I can solve it. In the tutorial, told to select a character: Told to promote him: Told to select a class that is still locked: It tells me I need to level the character up more in his current class in order to unlock that one but the tutorial prevents me from fighting any more until he is promoted.
K, found the bug and will be fixed in the first update! In the meantime there is an easy workaround; even though the arrow is pointing to the first character, tap your goblin and promote him instead. Sorry about that! >_< We definitely missed some issues if you purchase an IAP before the tutorial is done...
Talk about a double edged sword - built up enough popularity we can't press the buy button fast enough after we get the game, but that winds up causing tutorial to go kablooie.
I've earned over 250 gems in less than 1 1:2 hours of play. I won 89 from the daily challenge, get 5 free every hour, plus 2-4 from gifts in the map. They come pretty fast.
Just wanted to thank FM for their speedy response to this issue. Resolved my gem issue. Keep up the great work!
I just ran into the gem bug as well. I hate to be petty but if there's any way I could get those back, I'd appreciate it.
That's just sad. It's not only a free game but one where you can get ludicrously easy. You don't deserve any refund and should quit being such an ass
I'm really enjoying this game! I like the ensemble feel of having a bunch of customized characters, then letting them loose on maps and trying my darnedest not to get killed. (or even hit, for some of these star conditions...) For any gamers who have been through the game all the way: any tips on using gems, gold, stars, etc. to their fullest? what are the best investments, in your opinions? I have a magic sword that I enjoy, but I'm not sure if it's smart to buy a Godly weapon in the weapon shop just because it appears. (100 gems is a bunch...!)
Having actually finished the game, I can assure you that FM are being honest about the gems not being a premium currency. You can easily earn 50-100 plus gems every 12 hours if you play enough (and you can as there is no energy timer...entirely up to you). Just another case of a forum member ranting about F2P without playing more than 5 minutes of the game. Sigh.
I like the "slow burn" approach, that you can take a few days "off" of playing it, keep checking in and doing the treasure hunt maps, etc. then make a big purchase or two when that opportunity comes up, then play a few more missions, etc. My aim was to get better equipment, faster, so I invested my stars into the better equipment, more equipment options, etc. I also invested more heavily into the higher training amount per training time, vs. getting more gold per battle... Just my approach, though, everyone is going to be different! On equipment: I made sure to get equipment that would benefit the class.. Duh, right? Some classes NEED you to get a +5 DEF vs. getting a +5 ATK... They may already have a high attack, but low defense... Or, a well-rounded character may just need a boost weapon that has like +1s and +2s in everything vs. one with a high DEF... Matching the right weapons to the right weaknesses was majorly important! I'm at a point with a company of 50 or so? That I am going to unequip everyone and make sure I put this into practice with all my heroes. FM, One thing I would ask you to consider... And I had many things I asked you to consider in beta ... Would be the ability to click to the side of a portrait card versus having to hit the X button all the time, or, if I have a hero open I could then just click another one in the list at the bottom, rather than having to tap, tap, etc. multiple times. ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to match up the right heroes to a battle, either due to the need or the approach I want to take for an endless map, it'd speed up the hero selection.... Especially when you amass a massive Company. It'd also be awesome to see, without having to click on a hero, click on their equipment, to see by their portrait or in their description if they were equipped with an energy weapon, that isn't always obvious to tell by just the picture.
