The article is at The Guardian What jumped out at me: "How receptive are gamers to mobile ads? Mobile users are generally very receptive to ads – we get click-through rates about ten times higher than the PC environment. Gamers aren't any more or less receptive to ads than mobile users as a whole; however they are often eager to learn about new games, which presents a further opportunity for advertisers." "we get click-through rates about ten times higher than the PC environment" - nothing to do with the relatives sizes of the ads then? The mistaken clicking because devs put ads a little too close to buttons?
My view: If you put ads in a game that was free then you changed the game. I will probably change any review which will have been based on the whole experience. If you put ads in a game that I paid for then again you changed the game. I WILL give that game 1 star and reduce my review. Guaranteed. You have every right to change the games as you see fit but I also have every right to change what I have said too. So where can you introduce some cross-promotion? An options screen, game over screen. Make it amusing.
Interesting. Hmmm... I've only accidentally clicked on an AddMob ad once. Is the click-through really that high? Edit: Yeah, I thought people hated ads in their games (even if they are free games).
