I have one laptop, and it can receive wireless signals, so I assume it has a wireless card. It is a Sony Vaio, can anyone tell me where the wireless card may be located? I want to start an ad-hoc network so I can get cydia apps and so my Wii can play online :)

In my MacBook, I just select create network from the wifi icon in the top bar and thats it. Windows 7, I wasted 30 minutes but couldnt find how to do it. May be I'm an idiot or spoiled by OSX but it was such a PITA to try and get it working I simply gave up. Google it and you'll find a lot of solutions which looked easy enough but never worked for me :/

Here's the first one that pops up in google. Give it a try and see if you are luckier than me http://www.kombitz.com/2009/02/09/windows-7-how-to-create-an-ad-hoc-network/

Btw, wifi routers are really cheap now a days, you should definitely get one instead of trying to use your laptop for it. Much better solution than keeping your laptop on all the time just to use it as a wifi router.

It has Windows 2003 and I want to know where the wireless card is so I can get it out and put it into the computer so I can start an ad hoc network. I saw a tutorial on youtube and it said that I needed a wireless card or a wireless USB.

You can't start an ad hoc network with just a WiFi receiver noob! I'm not quite sure what it is that you want, but if you just want to transmit a WiFi signal for the Wii then follow the above tutorial.

Are you using ethernet or a 3G modem?

I posted a link to an tutorial in your last thread. It's for Windows XP, but there's no reason it wouldn't work on WS2k3.

I really dont think you can take a Wifi receiver from a Laptop and put it in a computer.

    That's not what he's asking.
