there are 2 kind of passes with button B: - Tap button B: short pass. - Hold button B: air pass. Please notice that you can modulate the length of the air pass, the more you hold the button the more long the pass will be.
Fixed joystick: yes, I can implement it in the upcoming releases. Switching players: I replied above, you should not chase the attacker but instead try to move the stick in the opposite direction, the game will call the last defender immediately. For example if you are chasing the attacker running "down" and you want to call the last defender just move "up"; the game will understand that you want to select the last defender because that is exactly the movement that the last defender would do in order to get the ball. If you want to call the player on the right side, just move "left" and so on...
Yes, this feature is also included in AS2. At the end of the season you will receive new job offers depending on season result CPU teams continuously buy and sell players so the lineup could change after many seasons. This is a feature I would like to implement, but maybe in Active Soccer 3
Do you add the ability to edit teams names, to change numbers of players and teams jerseys in the editor in a future update ?
Changing players by running away from the ball isn't very good in my opinion, because you immediately lose a defender because they have had to run away from the ball, and because there is no way of knowing when the player you're controlling will actually 'switch' it results in the next defender sometimes running straight past the attacking player before you can react to change direction. Defenders don't seem to mark players or at least stand on the goal side of them, resulting in the computer getting the back from a pass and quite often being one on one. Could also do with a 'press attacker' option when holding 'b' as defending feels like luck at the moment. Play doesn't seem to flew very well when attacking, players will often pass to the wrong player, and players receiving the ball don't seem to run on to the ball, Seems like all the passes are to the players feet and not into space ahead of them in the direction of play, meaning the receiving player has to stand still until they receive the ball, which breaks down the flow of an attack. I can't seem to noticeably curl the ball, not like sensible soccer anyway, is this intentional or is there a knack to it? Shot aim is quite off, the ball doesn't seem to go where I aim, I'm not sure if this is a D pad issue or me (being rubbish) or the fact I'm playing as a lower league team. Fouls seem off, slide tackles too often end up as a Doug and booking yet you can push a player from behind using 'b' until he stops and bends over and it's never a foul. Also out of play fouls from slide tackles started from when the ball was in play frequently happen, usually resulting in a penalty. Finally, the computer is too accurate with defending, it is able to mirror your movements and makes it difficult to run past them, again it seems like luck if you can dribble past an ai player. Especially with the unresponsive direction changes, feels like they hit the ball too far away with each step so they are always chasing the ball and don't actually have it under control. This is a good game, but it has some play issues that make it frustrating. I've tried for about 20 matches but don't feel like I'm getting anywhere because the above issues keep coming up and they are outside my control.
You have some really good points especially regardig defending and inaccuracy of shots/passes. I also find kick-off method not very good for switching players as sometimes I want to double up on opposition attacker which is not possible in AS2 as it is. i.e. without manual switch of players. Hypothetically, AI control defender on player's team would follow attacker with the ball and player controled defender could double up the pressure. The way it is now you can only defend one-on-one and with AI being a tad superhuman it's really hard to prevent cheap goals. I find this most frustrting as soon as I take the lead, more often than not opposition equalises immediately with a cheap goal going slalom through my defense. Excellent game with so much more potential though. Hope Gianluca will be here to listen and try to come up with some ideas himself. We are not here to bag the game - on the contrary we'd all love to help. On your comments re: movement of players, i think fixed cursor/joystick will solve vast majority of it and it will be easier to have more precise movement. Time will tell I guess.
I bought the game on the day one. The more I play it the more I like it. Just one request for the incoming release: when there is a goal, the players on the screen always stop action and then free maybe 1 second they run and celerbate. It will be awesome that the players can celebrate immediately after they "see" the ball enters the gate (without the 1 second freeze), just like the real world. It will give the game extremely more sense of live match.
There are a few issues but they are small issues only, I guess it will be easy to fix them, first I sometime miss the ball with a player, I run to the ball but miss it and then have to run back to get it back, would be nice if the player could control the ball as soon as the ball touch the circle under the selected player. Then I would love to have a dash button instead of the double tap which doesn't work at all, and finally throw pass and better control when shooting, a part from that the gameplay is nearly perfect
I will came out with something but for sure I want to avoid the just press X button to steal the ball like in other football games. It's too easy and boring in my opinion. Defenders mark players and the ability to mark players depends on the player skill. Anyone experienced this? This is because you selected the auto pass, just set manual pass in preferences and the ball will go in your desired direction The ability to curl the ball depends on players skills, it is possible that playing in lower divisions you have selected players with low technique skill. Shot accuracy depends on players skills, if you play in a lower division it is more difficult to have accurate shots. Try to buy players with SHOT skill. Past run them requires skill, if you notice the CPU has a reaction time depending on the CPU difficulty you have selected. Try to make some direction change, use your body to shield the ball and you can go for a goal. But I repeat it requires skill and practice. Again, dribble the ball requires skill. If you always run at full speed the ball will go far away at each step. You must master the ball control in order in order to carry the ball properly. If you notice if stop running and then run again, you have a little time when you have a good ball control. Thank you for this message, of course I will do the best to improve this game and few issues you have reported are something that must be balanced. On the other hand I just want to highlight that some of them are exactly game design decisions that make the game hard to master requiring practice. This in my opinion makes the game deeper.
The double tap works every time with practice. I often use it before my player even receives the ball so he takes a long first touch in his stride.
Will it be possible to change the numbers of the players, jerseys (player and goalkeeper) and the name of the teams in the editor from a future update ?
Gianluca, you brought up a very good point before regarding player skills etc... I can definitely confirm that I play significantly better with bayern munich than with my career club which is quite low skillswise. This however made me think - how do I know which skills my players have??? The only time I see skills is in the transfer window when you search for a player with Pass skill for example. But is it possible to see which skills players on your team have!? Even after buying a player with a particular skill, eg speed, unless I memorise which player has a skill it is not possible ti see it otherwise! Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also are there varying degrees of skills, eg 1-10 or something like that!?
Good point! This is a must-do feature. You should be able to see your players skills after all... Skills go from 1 to 99. The following parameters are implemented: - weight - height - speed - acceleration - shot accuracy - shot power - pass accuracy - pass power - air pass accuracy - air pass power - technique - aggression - defending - header
That is brilliant! Looking forward you bringing this on. It will definitely make all the difference. I'm very happy that teams of different skills play differently. Another quick question - if I'm not mistaken it appears that if a players plays outside his natural position, eg AM becomes CF after changing the formation, then his skills drop!???
