It's not MFI - it says so in the description you just posted I just googled it and if it's the one I saw (NES30 on Amazon found it) it looks like it's iCade compatible. Not sure if this game is compatible with iCade though. Personally I would be cautious of buying it without getting some firm confirmation (ie someone that has used it) on how it works with iOS.
I use the NES30 controller (bought in promotion on StackSocial) and I think it is very good. I confirm it is fully iCade compatible, not MFI, and the pairing process is trivially simple. The game is compatible with iCade, it's even written in the splash screen! As Gianluca said some pages ago, one limitation of the iCade protocol is that you can move your players and aim using 8-way directions (after all an iCade device is recognized as a bluetooth keyboard by the system) , not at 360 degree (which I guess you can do with an MFI controller). It is also a versatile device that you can use with your computer. There are some modes to connect it wirelessly, but after fiddling a bit, I found the most effortless way is just to connect it to my macbook using a USB cable (one is included) and have the system recognize it as a "regular" joystick, which also leaves untouched the bluetooth pairing with my iPad, so switching devices is immediate. This type of connection was once only available for Windows but OS X compatibility has been added with a firmware update. These updates are very easy to install since they come as self-contained OS X or Windows apps. Other than that... the looks and the tactile feedback of the keys are great, the size is right, the battery lasts more than enough. The device really shines when playing retro games with emulators imho. The main downside I can think of is that all documentations (and answers by the guys in the official forums) are written in VERY poor English. I recommend it.
Thanks @mess.. Yes, I saw it on Amazon. @sam the lion... Spot ton was considering using it with my MacBook Pro... As an old school gamer I haven't rotten into many action or arcade style games on iPhone or iPad as I know I can't handle touch screen controls for those games... However AS2 is making me reconsider and even buy a controller since I'm interested in playing it through the Apple TV. I'm interested in knowing the following: 1) @sam the lion--- have you played AS2 with this controller? Any issues with 8 way vs 360? 2) anyone play AS2 on Apple TV? How is it? 3) what other controllers do people use? 4) major difference between icade vs mifi controller? 5) anyone Jb and use PS3 controller? Seems like an awesome option... I hear you can use a PS3 controller with MacBook Pro as well 6) do you play AS2 using touch screen or a controller and why? 7) do you play AS2 the most on iPhone, iPad, on a television via Apple TV? Thanks! Looking forward to getting AS2 which reminds me of the pes series but maybe more arcade like etc... Love the customization! Thanks for supporting us Americans as well with MLS league!!!
Not serious issues... I mean... sometimes, maybe because I am lying on the bed and I'm too lazy to pick up the controller, I just play with the on-screen controls (which is not too bad btw)... then if I do pick it up, it's like if I need a couple games to adjust and shoot at weird off-the-target angles, then I go back at being better with the controller. I would say, you probably miss something, but the game is still a lot of fun. Maybe Gianluca is the best person to answer this question since he knows deeply how the game works. The latter is the full-fledged, official apple protocol to support gaming devices. As such it is more likely to be future-proof. I mean, I don't think that Apple will ever remove support to iCade, because to work it just needs support to bluetooth keyboards and I don't think Apple will ever remove that, but developer may choose to move to MFI and therefore not add iCade support to their games. Right now the list of iCade supported games is not bad but could be better. Notably, some strong players such SNK support iCade - playing Metal Slug with the NES30 on iPad is great. The main weakness of MFI for now seems to be that devices are very expensive and not that good. But that was the last time I checked... I don't know if the situation changed. This site should be a good resource: http://afterpad.com/
Cool! I figured you probably were on top of this one too, as you seem to be working on a lot in the next update. It was a England cup. Either League or FA equivelant. Can't remember. I fixed it by just quitting out and relaunching completely. Thanks for all the work and tips every now and then! I didn't even realize how much time I've been putting into this.
Thanks @ Sam the lion for your insights... It's good to know the touch screen controls are pretty good. It has been my #1 concern since I've been burned before and am more into strategy, tactics, turn based games using the the iPhone vs arcade, action, fps etc... I think I'll give it a try and hope the controls don't freak me out.
Are there any controllers that work well with AS2 on both iOS and Android? I have the game on my Samsung S5 and on my iPad Air, so it would be great if I could use it with both
I believe the NES30 works on iOS, android, pc, Mac... Sounds like the problem might be 8 way vs full 360 control? I'm hoping to use on Apple TV as well and I heard people did use this with fire stock from Amazon .
I think i found a bug. Italian cup, first match Avellino-Udinese 2-2. Second match Udinese-Avellino 0-0. Avellino pass the turn. I think it's wrong, Udinese had to pass because of away goals.
@imdakine1: I have almost every MFi controller. The Stratus XL is the one I'd most recommend for a range of games, and it works very nicely with AS2. Two more bugs/requests: - I get a free kick near the opposition's goalmouth. The goalie then comes out and boots the ball away before the kick can be taken! (For good measure, he also flattened my player.) - It would be great if the game could somehow avoid lazy penalties. I've conceded penalties a bunch of times from an opposition player running across a player who'd done a slide tackle a while back, with the ball being some distance away by that point.
Cosa stranissima. Sorpresa! C'è l'Udinese e non l'Avellino!!! Davvero strano!
I found the avellino-udinese problem, the bug was the celebration that was wrong. The development is finished, now I am testing the game because I want to be sure to don't introduce any bugs
