It is very very difficult to use one touch passing in this game , and also an instant shoot , the players always need to have possession before we can perform an action ... I mean , for example I want to make an instant shoot right after getting the ball , that's why I need to press button A while the ball is being delivered , so the player will make an instant shoot without lagging ... But here the player always performs a sliding tackle instead of it , the same case with one touch passing , this really slows down the fast Attacks here ...
Looking forward to solution of this issue.

If you time the button press correctly you will get a first time shot. I score with these a lot and even use them to clear the ball when defending. Only when I mistime it (sometimes!) does the player slide

Nowadays people get used to "reserve" an action just pressing a button seconds before the ball possession. This is something i wanted to avoid because it involves no skills at all.
On the contrary in AS2 in order to shoot it is required the right timing, the shoot is taken as soon as you push the button.
Try to practice a little bit :-D

But this game isn't a simulation—it's an arcade game. I just find it absurd that when I'm travelling diagonally towards goal and tap the shoot button, I have literally no idea where the shot will end up. It adds a randomness to the game that's basically gotten me to the point where I just don't see the point in continuing. It's not so much about my skill with a controller as whether or not the game allows certain strikes to happen or not.

Differentiation can happen in many other ways: power; speed; response. Shot direction — to this level — robs so much enjoyment from starting out at the bottom of the heap, rather than just being Germany or Chelsea from day-one. It's the rough equivalent of you holding down left and the player running off up the pitch because his stats aren't high enough. (And note that I'm certainly not advocating some kind of console-style auto-direct for shooting—just that if I'm travelling down and left and hit the shoot button, the shot should go largely in that direction and not instead sail towards the corner flag.)

(Incidentally, I know I'm griping a lot in this thread, but I do like the game. I'm also trying to get a handle on it for a review I'm writing.)

If you're shooting with a player with bad shot accuracy, you just have to take that into account. If the shot could go perhaps 25 degrees from your direction (about the worst angle I have seen playing with Cambridge) then you can adjust your position and shot angle so that anything in that range is on target. You're also shooting at worse goalkeepers at that level, so 'on target' can be enough more often.

If shots were 100% accurate, the only difference between an Eastleigh player and Messi would be the amount of power you could apply... (power = speed of the ball, response time certainly can't be increased for worse players without ruining the game ) and Messi succeeds generally with finesse, not power.

If your shot doesn't even go in the general direction you pressed, that is probably just a practice issue. Note that it also goes in the stick direction then applies aftertouch, this might not match the previous running direction. Shots don't deviate much from my direction even if I play with Cambridge and my video is full of precision screamers with 1.5 star players. It might also be that the shot is more accurate if you slow down and have the ball under full control when shooting.

I remember it was about a year after discovering Sensible Soccer before I could beat the cpu at all :)

I can murder Sensi and handle KO. Here, it's frustrating when your player is almost in the six yard box, facing straight down, and manages to hit the post.

And I'm about to start another game with ten men, because it won't let me swap out a suspended player for a sub. Hrng. I'm really hoping that bug's fixed soon.

Updates are frequent so hopefully. But I haven't encountered that one.

Maybe I just subconsciously don't shoot with players who have shown themselves to be bad at shooting

I think it's great that the developer is so active in the forums. This game really benefits from having a physical controller, so running this on my Samsung S5 is a dream with a PS3 pad. I didn't get on too well with the virtual controls. It strikes me that this would be an amazing title on the next gen consoles.

What are the main mechanics changes from the original? The career mode aspect almost seems enough to buy it, but I need just a little more of a push.

Yep, but it didn't really have a "steal ball" option, it just kinda happened automatically along with player swapping. It did have sliding tackles and standing/diving headers all attached to one button. Pretty amazing really. I've found player swapping slightly hit and miss in AS2 but I'll get the knack of it in time I'm sure.

Surprised it only got 3.5 stars. Best footy arcade game on the App Store. I used to play SS before this one.

Mm. I noted that too. Quite weird to complain about the limitations of something that were actually more 'limited' but actually not limiting. SWOS (Amiga), to my mind, remains the greatest footie game ever made. You only needed one button, not two, and not four (or eight, or whatever).

    And:

"though the former seem to have some delay issues that made my SteelSeries Stratus unusable"

Given that I've got almost every one of the MFi controllers here, I can fairly confidently say that's more down to the SteelSeries Stratus than anything else. That unit has some serious problems on iOS 8.

I confirm it is related to SteelSeries iOS 8 compatibility

I looked back and that's the same score for Fifa 15 on here so in that respect not bad. But there was a lot to the review on TA that I had to disagree with. Oh well I know it's a 5 star game when compared to other football games on App Store right now.

Do you like football? Do you like playing career/seasons? Does being able to create your own tournament sound cool? How about coaching a national team as part of your career mode? How does over 800 teams sound. Go get it, it's the price of a Big Mac, sheesh.
