Parallel we work on the design. Any button I forgot ? Maybe I combine the drop and fps button to one and cycle through. A 29.97 non drop is about the same as 30fps I assume for this purpose. A user fps might be nice to have instead. -
It's a little difficult to tell just from the picture how it will function. If I have to make a suggestion; you might want to have a seperate menu screen for selecting the frame rate. Depending on how many options you offer, one might be pressing the 'fps' selector button a great many times. Or, as I think is your suggestion, having the user manually enter a frame rate after pressing the 'fps' button sounds like it could be the most favorable solution. Now, if I may address drop frame for a moment. You might want to merge the drop frame/non-drop frame options with the frame rate button because drop frame only ever applies to NTSC. Also, drop frame (which appears to be selected in your sample image) should be represented by a ';' before the frame number. For example, 1 hour in non drop frame time code is written like this: 01:00:00:00 whereas 1 hour in drop frame time code is written like this: 01:00:00;00. And just in case you are unfamiliar (I would assume you generally work with 25 fps film and video) drop frame time "drops" the first 2 frames from every minute except for every 10th minute. So the code for the frame following 01:08:59;29 is 01:09:00;02 and the code for the frame following 01:09:59;29 is 01:10:00;00. EDIT: I just noticed FreeTime Pro also represents drop frame with a '.' period. Perhaps you are aware of a convention that I am not. Is that a sort of shorthand?
The more common seems to be the ; notation for a drop frame rate I will update this. I will use a seperate menue, that might be easier to expand, and a wheel for input as well as a manuel entry (I just have a camera with a 599.94 high speed frame rate for example). Sure we seldom use droprates in germany, but now more NTSC frame rates appear also in the consumer setcion and for internet.
its really great but only for 10 sec recording time (HD 2000). -- Hint fro all 3.0 beta 5 tester, currently the AClapBard might crash when GoCLap is pressed after a new project has beend defined. No data loss occurs, just restart the program -- we fnd out this when theapp LITE was rejected by Apple to to this problem (its seems to be a bug in the thread management -- we worked around it for the lite already for the aclapboard the next update will fix it)
The lite version is further delayed, as I had disabled the email functionality (gvving a message) it was rejected, and I had to remove the email buttons, now its on review again (its not allowed to have up selling functions in lite versions ?!?).
lite version out ! The LITE version is ready for "sale". might take a little bit till it shows up on App Store. Search for ClapboardLT
Promo Codes for AClapBoard and ClapBoardLT (Lite is no longer free) available. Just send me a PM, -- would liek to see some reviews. interesting for for all Video Filmers and also for Freelance
The new version of AClapboard is in the view pipeline since a week, new features will be the Timecode calculator, a colorbar display and 2pop feature for example. -- The Clapboard Lite is also in the pipeline and will have an email feature and no of projects out of limits (almost like the 1.0 AClapBoard) .. -- some strange review appeared in the german store, a customer complained not being able to RECorD a video on the iphone (using the iPhone camera) with ACLapBoard -- I thought my description was explaining what the app is about to do -- he also didnt know what all these numbers and fields are useful for ??? -- very strange but difficult to list all NON features (its also not a microwave oven , not a vacuum cleaner and not a video recorder, not a game, not a remote control, not a compass ...).
1. I am confident the update will be amazing. You are possibly the most actively involved dev in the forums. I was not expecting so many of my suggestions to end up on your to-do list. This could be the best all-in-one companion for film and video. I am tickled pink. 2. I am so sorry to hear you have been stung by another dumb reviewer. It just occurred to me that I have not left a review. I will do my part to balance the customer feedback. Look forward to some positive feedback in the Canadian store.
And still some more on the liste for the next update (for example edit the notes and calulating the fee for summed hours), just was time to get it on the store as with AClapBoard 1.0 there is a problem on 3.0, which I had to fix quickly. The review system sometimes is really strange. I adjusted my store text a little bit, but there is nothing what I can do. After this stupid review the german sellings of AClapBoard is = 0. now hope the update comes out waiting now for 14 days. Also the ClapBoardLT is updated getting some features of the AClapBoard as its now in 0.99$ (there were too many downloads without only a few getting the larger version).
Nifty. I will download it right now. I had a funny feeling the update would hit the store today because I finally gave up waiting and left a review for v1.0 only hours ago.
Ideas for the next update: 1. for the timecode calculator we have to display a error message if aninvalid tc is entered for example 1:00:00 when in DP is not valid but can be entered t the moment without complaining (a message box wnt be good as while entering a TC this is disturbing). 2. inverse geocoding gps data and showing the place (uer wish) 3. for the time managment, the per hours fee can be entered to make an easy calculation (user wish). 4. after some time we upgrade to 3.0 only , nice additions are possible then a) showing a map with marks of all places a clap has been used b) peer to peer sync of multiple devices for sync of cameras far appart (too far to see one clapboard)
I like the sound of #3 the best. That would definitely be the most useful IMO. The p2p sync sounds great too. One item that may have slipped your mind; I think the level needs a calibration option (it still looks lopsided to me.) Fantastic update, by the way. I'm loving the new time code calculator with the Ports of Call buttons. And the 2-pop is perfect. That gives me the precision syncing I need.
great to hear. Good idea for the calibration level, I adjusted them to around -3db of max, but as they differ it makes sense, also next update will have a calibration of the level data for the accelleromenter and some more features waiting -- I will do some tests on reverse geocoding, but it must work stable before I will add it - then you can see the name of the location as an option in the clapboard. For 3.0 later on I can also display a map with markers but I will wait a little bit till I update to 3.0 as old customers then might get stuck with the 2.2.1 version... see what I get as a feedback (we dont have too many customers at the moment only a handful).
here a new video by the way we found a small bug, if a saved timecode is recalled (RCL) it is dislaying the old fps (if its changed meanwhile). Just add 0 so you get it transformed to the current fps.
