I used to check their site every once in a while, just for some different perspective on reviews.... it seems like he just hates playing mobile games anymore. Idk that i've agreed with any reviews on 148apps for quite some time.
I finished the first campaign and I am stuck right now as I can‘t beat boss 3-5 of the second/german campaign. Anybody else had a hard time finishing this level?
. Are you serious??.... The "Threads" are created by the "Devs"..so that's why i post questions in there.. so go figure.. And this thread is about the new game "Aces of Luftwaffe extended" How can you "extend" something by removing what made it great in the first place ?? is beyond me.... it clearly would benift from having controller support IMO. I bought it going off my experience with the original version of Aces of Luftwaffe it ..plays great with controllers!! absolutly wonderful... as do most shump's.. why?? because games like shumps/platformers/fps, lend themselves to this kind of input method over touchscreen. My argument is simple. let me enlighten you on my perspective. . If a game was primarily designed for touchscreen like Angrybirds,ClashofClans, etc. then perfect ! i don't even need to go there. go play it on a train or something.. If a game was primarily designed for controller input... Do it justice.. and support it ! . Once again i appeal to the devs, (who read these threads) please add controller support in an update.
handbags out at dawn!! Sweet you loved the game boy I loved the Lynx. Yep I ask about controller support , sorry it upsets you! Descriptions rarely tell you if a game has controller support , this community however are super helpful and do respond! My point re the game being the best it can be is Incredibly valid! Feel free not to read my comments in the future, don’t want you getting bored!
@psj3809 and I may both be mods, but we've not seen eye to eye on a LOT of things (mod-related, game-related, whatever) during both our tenures on TA, but I have to side with him on his crusade on this controller problem we have on the forums. It's not the fact that you guys ask if a game has controller support or not. That is your right and I think we ALL support you. It's just...how do I put this? Well...MOST of you controller folk have this passion about controller support that...well...I don't think you know how borderline obsessive it gets. I will never argue with someone who asks about support, but I do get extremely mad with the incessant (and forgive me, you're one of them) "IF THIS GAME DOESN'T HAVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT, I WILL NOT BUY THIS/FUCK THESE DEVS!", "ALL THIS TALK BUT WHY ARE YOU GUYS NOT ANSWERING MY QUERY!!??" crowd. I get it. Controller support makes a difference to you guys. I truly get it, and will argue that psj's outburst at that specific post was a little unjustified (since y'all were having a full on discussion about the pros and cons of controller support), but when there's so much of the same stuff going on in every single thread, it's easy to understand why someone would get annoyed with it. Just my 2 cents. Hope y'all don't mind me speaking my mind. EDIT: Oh, and to the dude complaining about this being called "Extended Edition" without controller support...let's not be silly. It's an extended edition because it contains new content (the German campaign). Never once in the history of gaming has a game's sub-subtitle ever had anything to do with something like that.
@metalcasket well said. I had this huge post about controller support whiners written (yes, I was planning to throw this individual into the mix as an example) but for the sake of keeping things civil here I heavily edited it to the point I just kept it to myself instead. But I do understand @psj3809's outburst. You can't predict when it finally hits you. And when that happens, enough is enough and you just need to let it out. Politely, if possible. Happened to me, I admit, so that's why I get it. Luckily there are just two of these here on the TouchArcade forums so it's easily manageable to deal with them accordingly. I'm getting pretty immune to all this controller whine lately.
You are not getting it!! Yes the iPhone and iPad have touch screens! Yes some games are made for touch and play brilliantly that way! When that’s the case I have no complaints at all! But, when a game feels hobbled (many people here complaining about touch controls, not at all for the first time) by a lack of it, or if it’s a particular genre that is just crying out for it, then I think it’s a fair opinion to express a desire for it! How often do you hear people complain about the fact a game has controller support? I think maybe once I’ve seen a TA reviewer actually Prefer touch, but many times I’ve seen them say a controller is the preferred method. Controllers are so accessible now. Also for a Mod in this forum ‘the you controller lot’ feels a bit too muc! I’m a gamer, I love playing good games on my iPhone and iPad! Never considered myself part of a ’you lot’ also never disrespected a developer! Yes I won’t buy certain genres without controller support, namely twin stick shooters! I vote with my cash in the hope that developers will make the game the best it can be! So feral games for instance got my cash for grid (please with a straight face tell me that game is better played without a controller). They also got it for Tropico, and Civ with the add ons! Anyway it appears I’ve not been placed firmly in a camp. That’s fine, happy to be here!
It’s going to be a shame if us lot, the bunch of whiners that we are who constantly abuse developers, have no place here! But luckily I’m thick skinned and obviously an obsessive! So I think I’ll stick around. Let’s hope all games that should have controller support now do! Then you won’ t hear me talk about it, I can just thank them for making a game better!
I think the point is being missed here. It isn't what the controller crowd is saying, its how its being said. It really is quite toxic.
Nobody is denying you access or the right to be here! And no one will unless you’ll start being disrespectful and offensive. But if you care so much about controller support being added, why don’t you contact the developer directly? It’s a common sense. And this is not aimed at you directly, because I wasn’t in a mood yet to go through your complete post history, so I can’t confirm or deny every of your posts is about controllers and controllers only. As is the case with the other guy I mentioned previously. But you have to see for yourself how annoying this could be. I just mentioned this in Dead Cells thread. I have all three major consoles, so there’s no lack of options for me to just grab a controller and play. But I won’t. I choose mobile gaming for its touch controls and mobility in general. I appreciate Grid port by Feral interactive, but I DO prefer touch controls on my iPad (except for drifting). the same goes for other games like Dead Cells etc. If I want to play with a controller, I’ll play on a console. I bought Stardew Valley on 5 platforms already, and prefer playing it on iPad the most even though it lacks mods and multiplayer in comparison to other. It’s about a choice. And lastly, most importantly. You realize this is called TouchArcade, right? Not ControllerArcade. That’s what mobile gaming is all about. I understand the controller support was added in iOS 13, but there’s no reason to become obsessed about it. It doesn’t mean that every game HAS TO HAVE controller support now. But still, it’s much more proficient to contact the dev directly. And most definitely it’s pointless to whine about not buying the game because it lacks controller support. Especially here.
What I'm trying to say is exactly this. The folks who use controllers will always have a place on this forum and are especially appreciated (and encouraged to ask) since (unjustly) there's hardly anywhere on the internet that is transparent about iOS controller support. It's just...there are ways to go about asking, and if no one's answering, it's not because it's in our agenda to piss the posters off. I try to post as much impressions as I can whenever I post a new thread (because I live in a region that fortunately/unfortunately gets schedually released pre-ordered games before others in the world), but I guarantee that if anyone comes across their posts and has tried out the games in question with a controller, they'd be glad to to let 'em know. Unfortunately (and please don't assume I'm directing this at anyone specifically), it seems like the majority of people WITH controllers are adamant on NOT taking one for their team, and hence it ends up being an endless loop.
Jeez, can we knock all this off already? It's not that big of a deal. I agree people need to be respectful when requesting features like controller support, but other than that if there are certain people who only post about controller stuff and it bothers you to see then go to their profile and put them on Ignore and you won't have to see it anymore.
Yes, let’s all make up! As I’ve tried to state, for me basically it’s about enjoying the game. Personally for me I’ll generally enjoy certain game types more with a controller as I believe that’s the way they were intended. Like I said only speaking for myself, I’ve never abused any dev, or I believe been disrespectful. My opinions on this are not likely to change, and I respect you guys as well. As boardumb has pointed out, you’re welcome to ignore me! Would be a pretty dull community if we all shared the same views!
It’s a boss fight from other platform, but it gives you an idea what to do if you’re still stuck there. I linked the video to specific time where the boss fight starts. Hope it helps. My tactic in general is to overpower myself by grinding and unlocking skills in advance. Lame, but that’s how I compensate a lack of skill usually. EDIT: time stamp doesn’t work when video is embedded, so you need to go to 7:32 min manually. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Can you hold the phone vertical one handed and control everything with your other hand’s finger or do you have to hold it horizontally?
LOL, on sale after a month? That’s a middle finger to early adopters if you ask me. Luckily I’m still having a blast with the game. It’s easily worth its asking price. At least this is a chance for anyone hesitant to grab it.
