Runic needs to see from the reaction in this thread that--not only do they have real fans who game on mobile devices--but also fans who will pay top-dollar for a version of Torchlight 1 and/or 2 on the ipad. We can only hope.

I already have a copy of Torchlight for my old Windows box--since switching to Mac I'd have loved to buy a copy as well but decided to hold off until TL2. I'd definitely purchase TL1 for iPad though!

Woah, kids these days don't even know what racism means. What do kids learn in school nowadays?

I think the kids are getting better at shapes and colors.

    My point of view.

From where I see it, OP is evading the main argument and evidence shown by Runic towards stolen assets by diverting the argument to something completely different.

How about those "stolen" sprites and models that bear striking resemblance between AH and TL? And how does the screenshots by OP comparing monsters and heroes that are entirely different be used in defence to Runic's "accusations"?

I believe I have read enough of evidence proposed by Travis and from where I see, OP is going on a different route to cover the fact that they stole assets by arguing on something entirely different.

The best part is, how about those mispelled file names that AH is still using based on TL?

I know that China's good at "forging" stuffs, but can't believe they are also good at being ad hominem by twisting facts to make them sound convincing. Shame on OP.

    Free advertising

That was pretty blatant. Can't imagine anyone seriously trying to defend them at this point. And their response is pretty amusing, reminds me of Baghdad Bob insisting the Americans are committing suicide at the gates by the hundreds of thousands as an M1 tank rolls into view behind him.

I doubt we will hear anything from the company again. Generating all the art assets for a game like that from scratch is a massive undertaking even if they really did actually own the game engine. And their rep is severely damaged.

Most likely they will just re-group under another name and try to steal something else.

Good news for Runic though. This debacle turned me on to Torchlight and just netted them a sale. I was turned off by D3s online restriction and RMAH and this might do the trick. I can't be the only one.

“To keep my hands from picking and stealing.”

This is outright comical. It really made my day reading this.

First of all thanks to Runic Games. Torchlight is a great game and like a lot of people I can't wait to play Torchlight 2!
What ever you guys decide to do, please look at the bright side, it was probably a lot of free advertising.
"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", this is not "imitation" it's outright plagiarism.
Can only imagine how you guys feel, but please laugh along with us for now..

I'd like to take the moment to properly translate "Serena zhang" original response. The reading between the lines, the redacted parts if there were any:
And so on, some of the most childish and outright moronic attempts at justification, followed by obvious blatant lies.

Also, as if there is any reasoning with insanity, the full translated Confucius (and as if we didn't know who Confucius was) quote is:
“If I am walking with two other men, each of them I will serve as my teacher. I will pick out the good points of the one and imitate them, and the bad points of the other and correct them in myself.”

What you are trying to justify in stealing/plagiarism/pilfering has no application to this quote at all. It's expressing wisdom about learning and self reflection (a luxury you obviously don't have).
Taking the strong points form others and fixing the bad in one's self.
Absolutely no where does it say: "As you walk with other men put your hands in their wallet and see what thee might pilfer".

Here is one from the Bible for you:
“To keep my hands from picking and stealing.” .

Can't stop laughing. Dumb criminals and criminal stupidity at it's worst!

Just want to point out to those that still didn't know, the game is still running and very active, its operation basically goes underground now. There are patches, bug fixes and things that a proper game have but nothing about them replacing the stolen assets. Anyone can visit the ah.eglsgame.com and see for themselves.

Also like to point out that the game officially gone open beta in China for both iOS and Android with those stolen assets and all.

Some people believe the Holocaust was a hoax, some people won't acknowledge the sound files being the same.

exactly. It's embarrassing that they are so unwilling to admit their shady actions.

Yes I'm serious, how is it our problem? I bought torchlight 1 and 2 already, how will the planet explode if an iPhone game gets released? You freedom fighters need to stop acting like your saving the planet by boycotting one iPhone game that copied another game.

Yes, I'd like torchlight devs to get some credit if their hard work was ripped off, but no, this is not the most horrible thing to happen and some mind blowing sin. Not like their killing the sons of the devs or even taking a dime out of their pockets, it's really not a big deal.

So you're saying that if you worked on something for months or years, then you'd have no problem if someone just wholesale copied it, and claimed it as their own?

People support rip offs, wanna bees, generics, and flat out faked items regularly.
I'm NOT buying it, but there's no need to flip out on someone who doesnt care. Going zealot isn't going to help. This is the app store were talking about. They don't care, so now it's your job to?

I understand a boycott. However, not everyone will, so chill out about it.
