We are involved with a more long-term game right now, it's called Furious Tactics. Link is in my sig in case you are curious about it. However, I'd argue that the amount of time it takes to make a game doesn't reflect how "real" it is. If the game is fun, it's fun, regardless of how long it takes to make. The idea of the weekend aspect is both because, well, it's fun for us and also because limitations cause us to have to think really careful about what is the nugget of fun in our game and focus exclusively on that. With larger games, it's easier to get focussed on menus, features that aren't the core fun, etc. etc...I think it's not entirely unreasonable to make a game in a weekend that's more fun than some games that months were spent on! But, only time will tell what actually happens. Maybe we'll suck big time. At least we'll know then, right? ANYWAYS...that aside ... here are some newcreenshots: Backgrounds are now in! Games look much more real when there aren't lots of default black pixels Another hazard is in as well: the bees that attack you if you shake their hive!
Commenting on the "why not make a real game thing why make a weekend game". I think it is quite a feat to even attempt making a game in a weekend. Its a challenge as well which I love. As soon as we started I was drawing super fast and didn't leave my desk the commitment and even saying I made a game in a weekend is pretty awesome. Although I am also excited for the longer games! On another note... Its now 4pm I made some tea so that took up time. <_< Worked on the Paris background a bit after sending Bernadette some random videos that will maybe be made into some movies later? Not sure she's da movie boss. Anyways the Paris background is looking pretty gnarly. Might have time to make another background we'll see ^_^ Also I am going to maybe edit some of the videos I've taken of the previous background if I can find them in my maze of a computer >.0
Alright - the game is near complete it has been a pretty good weekend. We hit feature lock a bit over an hour ago and now are doing testing. We'll be up tonight doing the last polish, then submitting it to the app store. For the last bit, we will be live on justin.tv. The URL is: http://www.justin.tv/BrokenKings Check us out!
I'm going to make a thing I am Lopi. It's almost 7:30am, and it's ALMOST uploaded!!! Unfortunately I have to go stand in line for 2 hours at 8am, for...GAMES. The Roger's across the street is going out of business and they're having CRAAAAAAZY deals. Anyways, the game ROCKS. Our game. It's fun. And it's so incredible, and such an accomplishment to finish in a weekend. I wish I could sleeeeep. We should make post mortem videos or something...yessss.... I am Lopi.
Alright - as Lopi said we have submitted Sorry we were lax on screenshots yesterday, we were very busy! But here are a few from throughout the day: A new addition - beehives Another picture with the spiders an art glitch we had earlier in the day, we accidentally left the transparency off XD Near the end of the day - some madness going on! Today I probably won't get much done, but tomorrow I am back on Furious Tactics, then Friday we start this all over again
Hmm, pretty impressive ambitions there! But you're proving more than capable so far Good luck with this and future ones.
Last Day Progress Reports: I Thanks for the interest! The team did a good job and submitted to the AppStore earlier today. *** We're new at this and we don't have a camera crew or anything, but I think it's been fun. Thanks to everyone who shared it with us. Until Friday!
A local TV Network GlobalTV is currently at our house filming a little segment about Broken Kings and Castle Conflict.
In which a local television network feature a segment about BrokenKings and a couple of Calgarian Developer friends of ours. Connor www.yycapps.com www.twitter.com/yycApps Brendan www.tapforms.com www.twitter.com/brendand Thanks~!
It's alright, really. Interest will come if we're deserving of it and when it does it will be lovely. For now, we're just having fun.
Tomorrow is the day of our next Broken Kings Mayhem Weekend! We're going to be making yet another game, in yet another three days. Will it be as good as Skwerl? Better? Worse? In a scant 96 hours, we'll know for sure! We'll be doing our design session in the morning. If you have any ideas you think could make a fun little game - post them here now! Who knows what ideas they'll spark
