That is why I like AppSpy, it is honest. Also, Tbh, there shouldn't be any narrative. Just endless mining.
For those who were waiting for it, the Dirt update with new narrative content went live yesterday! We just finished our design session and Lopi and I are about to start splitting up the code tasks ... this weeks game is an online multiplayer hide and seek turn based strategy game. The more words you use to describe it, the better, right? I'm mildly concerned that this one is going to take us longer than the weekend, but we're splitting it up in such a way that if we don't get all features in, it should still be a complete game and we can update in the future if necessary. Stay tuned!
Cool :O Will it have Voice chat? That would be awesome! And, whats up with all those worms/snakey thingies in Dirt? They confuse me...
Deaden I've finished the title for this weekends game "Deaden". Makes me want to frolic. I ate too many candies gaaah! -Jen
--Way overdue postmortem vid from the previous weekend now uploading. --New game Deaden already well underway. No, it's not about zombies, ghouls, ghosties, vampires, Twilight (because they are of their own sparkly category) vampires, dementors, werewolves, Twilight (because they are more shape-shifters than 'real werewolves) werewolves, neither is it about daytime drama actors/actresses or other such horrific categorical entities. I think it's about hunting? But not in the same way Duck Hunt is. --Dinner tonight was lasagna. I think it's one of my favorite things to make. --Link to a nifty cover of one of the songs off of the Dirt OST. --Link to a review of Dirt - no embed because it does have spoilers, just so you know. --Link to our FanPage for more up-to-date newsies. --Link to our Blog because I can. Toodles~
Sorry for the quietness so far this weekend guys We picked a game with a larger scope than usual and have been keeping our noses to the grindstone ... lots of new challenges for us this weekend, including trying to get online multiplayer working, using a new level editor, etc... So here's another screenshot with more programmer art! Don't worry - Josiah's art above will be in soon as well Right now I'm fixing a bug with the light engine, but in the next number of hours it should happen.
We have finally had the chance to see in action a big "why" of why we think this game will be so much fun These two screenshots are from one game...in the first one, is a "hunted" players screen, and the second is a "hunter"...check it out: Looks like you are safe, but on the hunter players screen...
Push I am Lopi. Here is a level made in the level editor called Tiled. The level editor is called Tiled, the leve itself is called TempLevel. Please...don't confuse the two. I am Lopi.
An image of the game, nearly code complete minus a few bugs and the end conditions, below: It's Sunday night and a code and lighting engine bug are slowing us down ... Lopi and I think we probably aren't going to finish on time tonight. Tomorrow is Valentines and I'm busy Tuesday so we're talking of finishing the last of it Wednesday. We'll see how that goes.
Not quite an RPG, although we wouldn't mind doing something along those lines in the future. It is a turn-based online multiplayer strategy cat and mouse game. There's probably a better way to describe it but more words make games look fancy. In slightly unrelated news, the updates we did last weekend for Skwerl and Smoothie Operator have each gone live now . So if you had the games before, feel free to check them out, if not, well, Skwerl is now better and even more addicting than ever, and Smoothies difficulty curve has been greatly repaired.
It's Wednesday, Lopi and I have been working on this ... fixed our networking bugs. Now we're working on polishing the lighting and getting game end conditions in.
...Due to some sneerious time difficulties, Deaden is again taking over this weekend. Wish the team luck! I'm really excited about this one. Turn-based GLOBAL multi-player is super sexy.
Do you guys think that if you are playing a multiplayer game, then move it into the background, then re-open it, you should still be in the same multiplayer game? Or back at the title? EDIT: Reading Apples docs, sounds like they want you to stop online stuff when they're in the background. New HUD is now in!
Progress continues today Jenna has made about 4 new levels, and I'm adding in some of her great new HUD art today. Josiah tinkers away at adding some new tiles to the tileset, so we can have lots of visual variety. He also did a minor update to the art in Dirt, so we'll have a new update of that out soon with some of the art improved Speaking of Dirt, turns out we were featured yesterday at IndieGames.com as their iPhone game pick! http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2011/02/iphone_game_pick_dirt_broken_k.html Pretty coold
