I made a short little gameplay video and also a walkthrough if anyone's playing and needs help. Smart puzzles and cute aesthetics. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #4 y2kmp3, Dec 10, 2015 Agree that this is an instant buy! Saw the game when it was first released on PC. Glad to see that the game is now available on iOS. Wondering if the game has been expanded with more puzzles. I recall a minor drawback of the original is that there were only a handful of puzzles. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #5 AppUnwrapper, Dec 10, 2015 Yeah, sadly it's not very long. I would have loved more of it. But what we do get is really solid. Some of those puzzles are incredibly tricky and took me many tries to solve. rezn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Mar 8, 2014 862 6 18 Male Coder/Keyer in medical ICD 10 Reno, NV #6 rezn, Dec 10, 2015 I still haven't picked this up on Mac. So I think I'll have to get the iOS version. Very original game. It's my game of the week for sure. fabianb Well-Known Member Nov 1, 2014 1,009 0 36 #8 fabianb, Dec 10, 2015 How many puzzles are there? Or is the pc version expanded? But it's really clever put together. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #10 y2kmp3, Dec 10, 2015 Agree with how clever the puzzles are! Well done and very satisfying to solve. To this end, knowing that a level can frequently be solved in many levels with different efficiencies, it feels like a big missed opportunity not to include some kind of metrics to measure how efficient the player's chosen solution is and how that compares to the developer's intended solution. A step counter, a counter to measure how many snow rolls are being made, and other similar metrics would make a great secondary goal. Why is this not incorporated? The puzzle mechanics also somewhat rely on a "cheat" in that the snowball would not grow any larger once it reaches the "upper" size. I understand this constraint is necessary so not to break the core mechanics. But still it feels artificial and internally inconsistent with the game's logic whereby you are making a "growing" snowball. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #11 metalcasket, Dec 10, 2015 Not usually a fan of Sokoban type puzzle games, but bought this due to Killercow's praise. It's fantastic. I for one prefer just being able to play the game and enjoy the mechanics for what they are (my goodness those controls are insanely good), and am so glad there are no secondary objectives, timers, counters and star systems. I know I'm automatically backing myself into a corner, but I hope it stays that way. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #12 AppUnwrapper, Dec 10, 2015 Yeah, I actually liked that about it, too. Star systems and leaderboards are great for some games, but I think it would have cheapened the experience here. The whole mood of the game would have been different. Nicola Salmoria Well-Known Member Jul 8, 2012 106 0 0 http://nontrivialgames.blogspot.com #13 Nicola Salmoria, Dec 10, 2015 I'm glad that other people are liking this game as much as I did. This is one of those rare examples of taking a simple mechanic and taking it in all possible and unexpected directions, often surprising the player during the journey. The level design is terrific; every puzzle has something to say, there is no filler. I also liked a lot that all levels are put together in a single map, and that there are no scores, counters, stars, to distract from the immersion into this fantasy world. The game might seem a bit short, but I think it's right the way it is. The author simply didn't have anything more to say with the mechanics, and adding more levels just to increase their number would have diluted the enjoyment. Anyway, after finishing the normal puzzles, there's a secret meta-puzzle which more than doubles the length of the game The controls have been adapted very well from the PC version. They are actually better, I think. Regrettably, it doesn't seem to run too well on iPad Mini. It stutters every few seconds, with music breaking up. That's after rebooting the device; before doing that, it would simply crash :-( Hopefully this is something that can be fixed. Good idea that the developer sees fit to give a "tutorial" bonus puzzle before letting the player tackle the "true" bonus puzzle. Once you realize the secret, it makes you think of the entire game so differently and having the need to replay the entire game in a different way to solve the bonus puzzle. Yikes! I can't think of another puzzle game for the iOS with such a big secret that the developer does not even advertise!
