This surprised me. I'm at level 51 now and didn't even realise there WAS a 'main quest'! How do I get started on that? I did the quests for the woman in the first town so she could make her tea, then I just kind of wandered off since no one else seemed to have anything for me to do. So I jumped around the map a while, got levelled up nicely but really have nothing to do anymore - getting quite bored in fact... A nudge in the right direction for the main quest would be great! It's a little sad that the main quest can be finished after such a short time, though - it didn't take long to level up to 51, so 57 won't take that much longer... was expecting this game to be a little more on the 'epic' scale on terms of longevity given the map size... But he didn't actually finish the main quest. That is probably the 1/2 or 2/3 mark. There is still much left to explore after the point he is at.
I've been more than satisfied with the content and dynamics for $2.99, especially from an unfunded indie team. It's cool that they've added free expansion content too.
I'm 2 hours in and so far I consider this my favorite RPG on iOS, without a doubt. I've always wanted an Elder Scrolls type of game without clunky 3D gameplay on a touch device. This is more than what I've hoped for. It looks simple yet feels quite deep. Great sense of freedom, as if I've waited for this iOS gem for years. If I had to make one suggestion, I'd wish for more sound effects. I love the ones that are present now, especially the footstep sounds! (Lacks way too often in similar games). But when picking stuff up, opening chests, hitting a foe with magic or simply by clicking things on the menu, I'd love to hear something. Also, each type of monster could have it's own sound effect. It would certainly add to the experience! It might've been posted before, but reading all 27 pages seems quite overwhelming. Also, I'm quite excited for user created content, because (most likely?) the level editor on PC will be able to make custom adventures in the future for us to play. A good integration of this on mobile devices (for example a list of uploaded maps/adventures) would mean endless RPG goodness! If you guys are planning a mac port of this level editor, I would be as excited as a child before christmas! But I don't want to ask too much. Thank you for this excellent RPG, folk at Valoware!
Chances are good you've already done the main quest just without plot and characters pushing you in one direction or another. Spoiler Squash zombies, etc
Hello, I was just wondering what classes people are playing and if they have a favourite one? I am playing the Mage and currently use the heal and fireball spell. Thanks
First town, go to the pace where you originally met the tea lady and head to the house south from there. In the house is another room, go in and talk to the dude there. That's where the main story begins. I had the same issue... though not a huge issue since I loved being free to do what I wanted at my own pace.
Night nailed it. The guy he mentioned is named Renn and he'll be the one giving you all of your quests for the main storyline. At least for a while. I haven't finished it yet. Spoiler inside the Crypt dungeon there's a false wall, you can spot them by a little crack in the brick. When I went through it, I found a ladder, and a room that was packed with maybe twenty undead. Got my ass handed to me. I'd be interested to know if anyone has actually cleared the room.
Is there a shared stash anywhere in this game? Just wondering before I start selling off all my class loot I can't use.
Anyone else run to an area in the bandit hideout where the blackness seems to go on infinitely? I don't know if it's a glitch or some secret. Either way after traveling around a few mins I gave up.
I would think shooting fire balls would light the area up. Also, can't you just equip a touch in your left hand?
After spending some time with the game my impressions of what I first thought was nostalgic and charming, has turnded to total appreciation and genuine admiration. Initialy I was hesitant as the price point seemed to exceed the quality of the game, however, its clear that theres enough RPG-mojo here to justify every dollar. The presentation is an obvious homage to Richard Garriots creations of the mid-late 80's and it drips with that terrain-tile charm of Ultimas of yore. The obvious difference is the interface and play style. More of a twin-stick arcade game that arrow-key turn-based affair. This is a good thing; the implementation of both movement and targeting is generaly smooth and satisfying. Playing the action elements as an arcade shooter, rather than a methodical tactical exercise is essential for survival. The enemies are fast and at times numerous, but never impossible unless you've wandered into areas that exceed your level. I've had the most success as the ranged characters, with the Mage absolutely feeling overpowered. While I have not finished the game, there is no doubt the Mage is the most survivable, solely based on the amount of damage he can deal. Employing a fighting retreat or kiting tactic is almost guaranteed. While not feeling nearly at the same dps level as the Mage, the Archers range allows you to pick off most enemies while outside their agro-engagement range. Intentional or oversight these two classes seem to both more survivable. Others may disagree, but With the twin-stick style lending itself better to "shooting", the warrior is simply not as enjoyable. Great game thought and great fun!
Just picked this up day after launch. Now, after several hours wandering between quests and little side expeditions. This is some damn fine RPG gaming! I am a big fan of the Ultima series, but I never played anything before 6 so I was a little hesitant to play a game in direct overhead view (which I thought was boring), as opposed to the isometric view angle of the later games I am familiar with. Well, I am happy to say that this game is really immersive with impressive sound effects conveying a rich atmosphere, and lovingly crafted pixels, and excellent touchscreen gameplay. It is obvious that a lot of love was put into this. I especially love the touchscreen detection for looting closely grouped barrels or chests as I big fingers on a small screen would otherwise be bothersome. Also great is the save anytime feature and the Zoom feature both making this excellent for gaming on the phone. My one big gripe so far is the absence of iCloud save support. I really want to be able to play the same game across both the phone and ipad
Absolutely loving this game so far ! Finally an RPG where you can be a Mage and enjoy the experience !! I did see a possible bug, some items it would list class: "MageNULL" Also movement seems a bit choppy on iPod Touch 4g, Anyone else experience this ? P.S. - Deleted Warhammer Quest in favor of 9th Dawn !! Keep up the great work !!
Love the game, however it could use a couple of little things in the beginning to make it more accessible such letting players know they have a full set of gear in their inventory but it is unequipped, same with starting attribute points, no title screen button, and I'm sure I'll get killed for this but a quest log, and some form of bookmark system for the map. It's really annoying to put the game down for awhile, come back and have no idea where or I was going or what I was doing. I'm not even asking for a waypoint system, or any hand holding, just let me place one marker besides my location on the map as a holder so I can remember which direction I was headed.
It tells you at least a couple of times to make sure to spend your attribute points and equip your gear. You have a quest log but it's in your inventory, and you have to "use" it to see your current quest, not the most user friendly method but it works.
