I love this game so much - it's huge, tons of content and secrets and there's so much in, it's just impressive. This game brought back the old Ultima feeling. Because of all my memories, it's far more worth than the asked price.

    Great! Thank you.

Edit: I just got into my first combat... Hmm.. Didnt realise it was real time, I guess I assumed it was turn based like Ultima. Damn :(

I'm more into JRPGs but it looks like you get quite a big experience for just $3. I'm in.

I'm currently using the warrior, but what really gets on my nerves (it's actually a really good idea to have in the game, and shouldn't be removed- just me being picky) is that I will be training with a good weapon, find an AMAZING weapon, but can't wield it because I need to rank up my skill in another weapon type (eg. Spears). I'm wondering if I should actually go for the archer or mage, because you could actually take down really tough foes if you were smart enough to outmanoeuvre them.

Hey does anyone else have the bug (?) where an enemy will run straight past you, and go to the approximate place you were a few seconds ago? Sometimes I just need to chase down my enemies :p

    Impressions...

Great game so far. I'm a lvl 35 archer mainly using bows. My skill in bows is 47 at the moment. I'm at the point in the game where you use the guys hand as a key to enter this castle. I make it past a few skeletons to a staircase. I enter it only to get mobbed by some very hard hitting guys. Went out to explore/lvl up a bit and found a dungeon with a lich at the end. Killed him for a chest with nice goodies in it.

Which leads me to my biggest complaint of the game... as an archer, I find TONS of Mage armor and TONS of warrior weapons. Almost no archer stuff. I hate loot in this game because 9 out of 10 things I pick up are useless.

    Anyone got some combat tips?

I love this game but I've not won a single battle yet, seriously :(
Normally I go for turn based games as my reactions are rather slow.

With the warrior, you can force your way through most enemies, tanking the damage- but a hit and run technique can also be quite handy. Make sure you actually press and hold the attack button to keep attacking.

I MIGHT have found a glitch with the warrior though:
It only seems to work with 'spear' weapons, but when I level up the 'spear' skill, I attack in a rapid frenzy, jabbing like some crazy machine for about 5-10 seconds. Although it is useful, I'm not sure why it happens. (Maybe a victory jab for levelling up?)

On the above note- there's another bug I found- I completed big johns quest to get his mushrooms, got the soup, went to the town north-east of there, and came back. I went to see big John and he repeated the dialogue of when I first met him. Now he wants me to go get mushrooms that aren't there, and never will be because item storage units permanently store their cargo status.
Doesn't affect gameplay, but annoying seeing 'Big John' in my quest log when I already completed the quest.
Also, how is storing a vast amount of items inside a MUSHROOM even POSSIBLE? :p goodbye logic XD

Could someone please explain the bars in the top right for me? The red one is obviously health, and I'm fairly sure the blue one is mana, but the green and yellow ones are a mystery to me.
One last question- if warriors and archers can't use mana, why are the bars even displayed?

The bottom one is XP. When that reaches the end you'll go up a level

The green one is stamina - not used atm, but might be connected with archers (and mages?) in the future...

Thank you so much, dear devs for this masterpiece of a game :D

To the person having trouble with battles, do you have a weapon and armor equipped? Do you just stand there while attacking or do you try to back away and move in to strike? Put the apples in your first slot so you can quickly eat.

I didn't find the early par of the game too bad. Te worst for me was I had grinded my way up to level 12 before I realized I could go in and assign the points to various attributes. Ha! That made the game a lot easier. Good luck.

Thanks. Sounds like I may not need to use them after reading how big the inventory can grow, but I love the idea of using chests/pots/coffins as storage containers. It reminds me of minecraft in that regard.

    ....

    An update on my adventures...

First someone asked what people were playing as, I'm a Knight. I figured I'd star out traditional and move on from there to Mage on mg next game.

Spoilers for noobs, certainly not for those that bought this day 1.

Anyway, I finished all the quests for the juice lady, also the one for the bar owner, ventured way north past the goblin hangout and found another town. There was one quest there about going back to the bar in the first town so I knocked that out. I explored the area and found a crypt or something to the north west of that town on a peninsula. I've died many times down there, but I've nearly cleaned it out completely. I'm kind of at a loss what to do. I think I may venture back to te first town and head west. Whatever happens. It's been a great experience.

The green bar is stamina and it IS used for the archer.

    -side note-
I'm lvl 48 now (archer) 64 bow skill. Just found out how useful traps are. Very powerful! I'm a little into the top left island (looks almost like the frozen island on your map. Monsters are really powerful here. They easily hit for 500 to 700. If just a few gang up on you, you'll be struggling. Hardest single mob I've encountered so far is a Abysall Lich.

Random loot really needs looked at. Can't help being frustrated when killing these high lvl mobs and getting stuff like wooden shields to drop over and over.

Ok, you obviously missed the first quest about Renn. It's not easy to find, so don't feel stupid if you missed it. If you stand at the spawn point near Nevi, go down, into a building. Then go into the room on the left and there is a dude there called Renn- he will give you the start of what I presume to be the main plot/quest. Once you reach level 10 go back to him and he will give you the mission to find his friend.
Be prepared for a walk- you will have to travel between the two people at least three times.

What is strange about the path to that Europhes (whatever his name is) is that the enemies go rats/snakes > goblins > brown bears > black bears > bats > rats/snakes
Why does it go from 'run away from the scary bears' to 'run away from the annoying weak rats'?

I wish you could move around easier- maybe spawn points could also be teleporters, so you could warp to any spawn pint you have accessed in the past.

I'm just heading west at level 16. Does anybody know where I can buy poison-healing potions?

I'm thinking now maybe Rena's green tea, but after a further quest, she doesn't sell it anymore.

I'm with you on that note , hardly any archer stuff to be found :( I'm at the same place you are but I'm only lvl 25, time to explore and lvl some . I have another game saved as a Mage I might check that out some . I have a little niggle with the Mage too, I wish there were sound effects for the spells

I think the town to the northwest (ferlyn?). If not then the first town southeast (Marseilles?) of the town you start at. You should have enough low level healing items (apples, meat, etc) to get you to either.

A little advice for archers. Most of you will have probably figured this out anyway. Never equip a shield or dagger. Only put points into dexterity and constitution. You can buy the cheapest arrows for 3 silver. I'd advise you to keep around 500 on you at all times. Even after moving on to more powerful ones. The last thing you want to do is run out, if you have no form of alternative attack.

there is a crypt northwest of ferlyn(sp?) along the western coast. Also if you go to the northwest most point of the map, from the first town, you will find the goblin Lair. It's got less powerful enemies than the crypt and you'll find some pretty good loot.

I spent the early game adding a point to strength every other level, and enjoyed using the dagger because I found a great shield early on with 15 defense. But now that I've stockpiled arrows and silver, I figure I'll go 3 dex/2 cons the rest of the way.

I've found every bow up to level 50 already, but I'm just at 22 for both arrows & daggers. Time to start shootin.

Quick edit: don't forget to check & hotkey your new skill at level 16. It's invaluable once you reach bear city.

Ok I "think" I've beat the main quest. Made it deep into a castle and fought a boss lich guy. He drops a really epic item!! I'm guessing you can still play the game afterwards. You loot a key for his chest in the back too. Really good stuff inside!! I'm level 58 now and the best bow I've found is called Deaths Hearald and requires bow of 79. I have bow at 77 now so I can't use it atm.

I'm hitting anywhere from 1000 to 1400 damage every arrow. Best arrows I've found are called Dark Arrows (found fire arrows which require more points in bow but they aren't as powerful - bug maybe?)

I'm now running around trying to find all 7 of the treasures. Found 3 or 4 so far. A guy in a cave tells you that he will give you something really great if you can find all 7. Not sure ill need it though, as of right now I'm plowing through everything thanks to this epic loot of this certain lich boss.

Have to add my initial impressions here, as this is a really great game and stunning value. Don't miss it if you're into any class of RPG, as it has a bit of everything in it. The non-turn-based combat is simple and quite fun and the progression feels quite nice. Can't wait to spend more time with it and look forward to more from the Dev. Thanks much!
