Just want to add my two cents. Congrats on those who made it into the list. I hope you all realize (those first time beta testers) that we are here to give feedback and find bugs for the devs first and foremost. Oh yes furry blood will flow. While that is quite fun in and of itself you also have a job now as a beta tester to contribute input. So take your new title of beta tester seriously.
Indeed with power comes great responsibility and...ammo... and i just checked and the UDID i sent you guys was the correct one
First things first congrats all fellow betas and for those who didn't make it you have my sympathies so better luck next time. Anyways so for the udid ( or however it's spelled) when you click on it does it show everything you need to know because my computer went wierd for a few days so I had to copy it by hand. Does more of it show up when you highlight it?"
No, what I mean is: 1. I get the beta version via e-mail 2. I delete the AppStore version off my iPod 3. I sync the beta into my iPod, then play it Will I still receive Minigore updates from the beta version? Or will I have to delete the beta version when the AppStore version comes out to get all the updates?
You have to wait for timo to email you another file of the new version that needs testing and then delete the old and sync this one. There are tons of walkthroughs online. Ths is a good one though http://www.innerfence.com/howto/install-iphone-application-ad-hoc-distribution and by the way a much much much much easier way to email your iPod/iPhone inormatipn is to use the app betahelper. It gives UDID along with model version and lots more. I think it should be more well known
So... 1. I get the beta 2. I delete the AppStore version 3. I sync the beta 4. I play until Timo gives me a new version 5. I delete the old beta 6. I sync the new beta etc etc etc? Sorry this is my first time
At first, to be honest, I was really skeptical about being a BETA tester for some reason, but now that I think of it, I'll be a part of 99 people who can help Timo improve on Minigore Not to mention that we get to play the updates before everyone else I have another question: What happens if I plan to buy a new iDevice? Will I need to talk to Timo about them switching my UDID to the new one? I'm not saying that I'm planning on buying a new iPod or iPhone soon; I'm just wondering.
yes it will be a new UDID and possibly device model if you uprade so you have to tell him otherwise the file he sends you won't work on it
i know we need to delete the beta everytime a new one comes out but do i need to delete the reatail version as well?
Alright thanks. Sorry about this, but last and final question: Does this mean that I won't be able to update on the go (as in vacations)? Sometimes whilst on vacations I find free wi-fi near my room that I can update apps with. I don't own a laptop so I can't bring iTunes with me.
Usually the beta is only valid for a certain length of time and then you have to revert back to the retail version. Usually you download a build from a separate file - either by email or on a wiki etc and I think you need to be on iTunes to install it (at least that is the only way I have found to install builds). So hopefully you won't be traveling during the beta period.
What im saying it that ad hoc is just a build of the game, you cant get updates...only the game from the appstore will let you recieve updates EDIT: forget it, it was already answered
