Very worthwhile app." - likes old time radio Five Starts Classic game, great to have it on iphone! "Classic pinball game, excellent graphics completely lifelike physics. Little Wing does great pinball games for PCs and Macs and it's nice to have them for iphones too now." - Schmidticus Your kids have been playing Pinball Tristan in Rock'n'Play mode all evening, while you've been itching to get your hands on it for a crack at Arcade. You keep checking the clock, watching their bedtime inch closer. They look tired, maybe they should turn in early tonight. As soon as they're tucked in, it's your turn to have fun! Pinball Tristan is a worldwide best selling, award winning game, born for the Mac in 1991. You're going to have trouble putting this one down. It's cool 3D retro graphics, full-fledged pinball challenge, precise physical implementation of ball movement, is enough to make any diehard pinballer drool. This application has two faces. Pinball Tristan remains true to its classic roots, incorporating a toy-like cabinet with an old style mechanical score drum that will evoke memories of the authentic joy and excitement you felt from playing the original pinball machines. At the same time, this is a new type of pinball with two modes. Arcade Mode lets you experience real, challenging arcade pinball like it was meant to be played. This is the type of pinball game that you drooled over but couldn't afford when you were kid. Well, at only .99, you don't have that problem anymore. If you're just starting out, try the Rock'n'Play Mode. Freely adjust the board angle by tilting your device, roll the ball in the opposite direction by tipping the device away from your body. Practice flipper control with a shelving angle or try a quick combo play. It's all lights, sounds and action yet is easier to play than Arcade. This app can be all about technique, if you want it to be. Go ahead and experiment with the nudging function, the pass flip, reverse pass flip, return lane transfer, holding lift, dead flipper bounce, alley pass, slide and hit, live catch…do we need to go on, you get the idea. There are tons of different plays you can use to rock the pinball. While all that action is going on, why not listen to some great, motivating music? Pinball Tristan lets you play your favorite tunes by using your Apple iPod function. So, you've got pinball action and your favorite music – what could be better, except maybe ranking number one in the World Competition? Compare your game to others and track your ranking through the Game Center. See how your scores look. Check out the cool features you get in Pinball Tristan: * Best selling, award winning, most authentic pinball game * Suitable for all ages * Awesome 3D retro graphics * Precise ball movements * Accelerometer game control * Two modes of play – Arcade and Rock'n'Play * Easily adjust the board angle * Several play techniques to master * Game Center – World Competition Mode * Facebook and Twitter Connect * Guaranteed player satisfaction! What are you waiting for? Right now, you are just about the only person on the planet who is not playing this game app! Download Pinball Tristan now and get in on the action. Now I'm full of it. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #7 medianotzu, Jun 4, 2011 Holy crap, this is the real deal if you're looking for something that feels like "real" pinball, no doubt. While I'm no pinball aficionado per se, I did always gravitate first and foremost to pinball machines in the arcades in the late 80s and 90s, and I've bought every major pinball release on the app store that I've been able to find, so I can confidently say this is the one with the most genuine feel to the physics. While most other pinball apps leave at least something to be desired, this one sure feels right to me--ball weight, flippers, bounce, and the tilt. I suck at juggling off the slingshots, but I'm fully confident this can be done here, and drop catches feel perfect. The table design is pretty nifty. I haven't had time to delve into all the scoring depth but there sure looks to be plenty of it. I prefer tables with more atmosphere and a theme to them (love the Last Gladiator pinball tables because they feel like the ones I'd get hooked on back in the early-mid 90s) and the visual design here is really vanilla, but it doesn't matter too much. The Arcade mode is the "normal" one, with the authentic feel, whereas Rock'n' Play allows you to move the ball around with tilt, which is nice for playing around to see how the table scores. You can play in a static, zoomed-out view or with a flying view. I prefer the static one, but the flying view isn't as distracting to me as it is in some others. You can only play in portrait mode, which is kind of a shame to me, since I strongly prefer to play in landscape, but it's not too crowded due to the way the table is zoomed out (or how the camera follows the ball). I can only hope that Little Wing will release more tables, or some IAP tables in this app (even better, actually, if you ask me), or failing that, some IAP themes for this one that would make it a little more atmospheric. Overall, for $1.99 an absolute must have for any iOS owning pinball fan. For the physics and realism alone I would have to give it a 5/5 on Apple's rating scale. This game simply has the best physics / controls of any pinball yet on an iOS platform. Period. the OoO Gameprom tables were very beautiful, fun, and shiny, with an ultra-slick interface... But as was said above, this inexpensive slice of awesome is the real deal. Just finished playing it for a while, and it's just beautiful. I expected the physics to be top-drawer, having played all of Little Wing's other Mac pinballs, but it just absolutely feels *right* on my iPad2, and I noticed no droppage in the performance on the much slower iPhone 3GS. I cannot wait for the other LittleWing tables to get ported, iOS players who are strangers to Little Wing pins are in for one *heck* of a pleasant surprise if they continue to release their tables in this fashion. If you need further convincing on Little Wing's absolute mastery of the genre, visit their website (if you have a Mac) and treat yourself to a trial version of Mad Daedalus, their newest. I wish them every success, and I am envious of the iOS players settling down to a LW pin for the first time. Kramer Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2009 160 0 16 #9 Kramer, Jun 4, 2011 Can only repeat what has been said above. The table may look basic, but it's great. The physics are much better than anything else on iOS. I would say though, having looked at a YouTube of the old PC version - it has real physics, not those gamey physics from the 90's version. Superb. BazookaTime Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 5,340 1 36 Kansas http://www.paulmcraelind.com #10 BazookaTime, Jun 4, 2011 So by "best" this is better than the pinball games Gameprom puts out? Anyone play both that can compare? Googlyhead Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2008 55 0 0 #11 Googlyhead, Jun 4, 2011 Oooohh. I remember crystal caliburn, loony labyrinth, and the much later angel egg pinball on my old 'mac. They weren't overflowing with bells and whistles (excepting angel egg to a small degree), but were definitely solid sims. Will probably have to see how this stands up to the wild west / the deep bunch which seem to be the nice games for the current os. pluto6 Well-Known Member Jun 21, 2009 5,837 3 38 Military #12 pluto6, Jun 4, 2011 Strong recommendations, so I am going to give this one a try - be hard to beat the Last Gladiators tables for physics I am thinking - they are pretty damn good... But, if its a fun table - then who cares? The latest couple of tables - Slayer, and War Pinball have been pretty durn good, and fun to boot. Here is hoping that we have another strong game - always more room for excellent pinball... Fujibayashi Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2009 153 0 0 Japanese / Korean translator. Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i http://twitter.com/Fujibayashi #13 Fujibayashi, Jun 4, 2011 Differences btwn Gameprom and Little Wing Gameprom: very shiny, more tables, lots of bells and whistles. Physics aren't so accurate. Little Wing: emphasis is on physics, gameplay, and depth of scoring instead of shininess / explosiveness, people may find the lack of missions / tables an issue (though I wouldn't at $1.99). In my mind, they're like comparing apples and oranges, one isn't necessarily better than the other, it's what you prefer. It can't be stated enough: the thing that makes TRISTAN such a joy to play are the physics engine and controls. There simply hasn't been a pinball yet on iOS with more accurate pinball physics. Not even OoO Gameprom. They came close, but Little Wing nailed it. As cheap as these are, you ought to have BOTH GameProm and Little Wing pinballs in your library. Just me, but I'll play Little Wing's pinball a bit more often. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #14 medianotzu, Jun 4, 2011 I know you love realistic physics so you'll love this. It absolutely has more realistic physics. @Bazooka: I don't know what criteria you'd use for "best" but I don't know that this can become my favorite. I'd have to say at the moment I am enthralled with Devil's Crush and War Pinball, but it is awfully hard to top Slayer Pinball and Last Gladiators for me in terms of pure fun. Any given day one of the above could be my favorite, but while this one probably plays the best it is really bland. Still a must have if you like pinball sims, and a stunning achievement to me. This physics engine with the creativity of Devil's Crush would probably be my favorite game, pinball or any genre. Sounds like there are some other, more interesting Little Wing tables out there.
