The iPad version has also hit the NZ App Store, so will be out tonight. I'm gonna go for the iPhone version and if I really like it, I'll grab it for my iPad too. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #14 Gabrien, May 12, 2011 Game Impressions The Good: They've generally captured the spirit of the film(s) well. The Bad: Numerous in game currency IAPs. Pay up or grind. Your choice. Voice samples get old fast and aren't edited with particular polish or flair. The Average: Overall gameplay. It's generally fun, but not exceptionally so. Kill hordes. Upgrade stuff. Finish level and begin again from scratch. I find it odd and annoying that Ash doesn't actually aim at anything in particular, just seems to fire and stuff dies. Likewise odd and annoying that he isn't able to shoot left. Overall the IAPs are the major problem. There is tons of stuff to upgrade and everything costs coin. Clearly balanced with pushing the player to spend more money in mind, as these things always are. Regret the purchase for this reason alone (there REALLY needs to be a mandatory IAP disclosure pre-purchase for all apps.) Without IAPs would be reasonably content spending a buck on this average defense game with tie-in appeal (for those who like the film(s.) You're not forced to buy anything, so just ignore it. The game remains the same! Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #18 Gabrien, May 12, 2011 I beg to differ. And don't mind repeating myself I guess. The game is balanced for IAPs. eugekava Well-Known Member Jul 8, 2009 2,707 0 36 Melbourne, Australia #19 eugekava, May 12, 2011 I disagree. There are games where you have to make a choice what to upgrade. You can either save up and upgrade your "boomstick" to max or you can upgrade the troops or spread the coins evenly everywhere. Yes, if you want to upgrade every single item or ability before the game is over you need to buy coins, but the game is quite enjoyable without it. I completed 10 levels so far and have not felt the need to buy IAPs. Perhaps it will come to a point where I get stuck. I will then try a different upgrade strategy. Ultimate test would be an ability to finish the game using the coins I collected. I'll let you know if I succeed. IAP is a shortcut that is offered by Mega Jump, Plunderland and other great games. There you don't really need it. Hopefully its the case here. Just wondering how it looks, since it is a couple bucks cheaper than the HD version. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
