In fact, ET wasn't a bad game. It had some bugs and a few annoying aspects, but it was head and shoulders above a lot of the Atari 2600 cruft. The reason why everyone remembers ET as a "bad" game is that young kids in the 80's were used to action arcade games. They wanted to mindlessly shoot things or gobble them up. Anything where fast reflexes played a part. The idea of adventure games hadn't quite penetrated the public consciousness yet. When kids opened their ET package, plugged it in, and immediately saw the overworld... they were hugely disappointed. This wasn't an action game! FOUL! Worse yet, the next thing they did was fall in a hole. They then spent the next 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get out of the hole before they asked their parents for help. The parents read the manual (!) and explained what they could decipher of the gameplay. The kids then slooooowwwwllly crept out of the hole, got back to the overworld, then fell in another hole. At that point most kids said "WTF is this s#!7!?!?" and threw it against the wall. A few years later, they'd all be a bit older and become Legend of Zelda fans. The irony is lost on the entire generation. CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,596 33 48 #17 CygnetSeven, Apr 6, 2011 It says 100 games but I see alot not listed in packs. Megamania comes to mind. I assume it's available in the $15 pack but not in a smaller pack. TheClaff Well-Known Member Dec 18, 2008 492 0 16 Senior Producer, Bethesda Game Studios Bethesda, Maryland #18 TheClaff, Apr 6, 2011 WOW. This could be the best classic game compilation yet for app store (or a total failure) if the games all run and control well. Please be good on ipad2. If they used emulation and put the care into it that it appears I will love this and buy the big pack right away. 90+ games, universal, pretty good and fair options for what games you buy. There is always room for someone to complain about how they packaged the games or how they are so old they should be free but the people that will buy and love this "get it". Really looks great from that description. Someone who has played the originals and gets this (esp in NZ or UK) please post some feedback. It had some great games, but very few of them are on this compilation, because Atari never owned, or no longer own, the rights (eg Space Invaders, Ms Pac-Man, Pole Position, Pitfall, River Raid, Enduro etc etc). Garbage like Basic Math is a poor substitute. Some of the packs could be worthwhile depending on the conversion (eg Crystal Castles with a good dynamic virtual pad/swipe controls would be worth 99c of anyone's money), but I fear we're more likely to see second-rate emulation with fixed buttons. I don't think you get to decide who comments on what, and I don't think it's yet against the rules of this forum to express an opinion that something isn't very good. And since there's no sign of Lite versions by which to judge the quality before purchase, "if you don't like it don't buy it" is a pretty dumb thing to say anyway.
