^^^^^ thanks for the replies ! I agree with the pricing thing too. It's pure psychology. Glad to see lots more premium games without IAP these days (or at least that's my perception).
Hey Gang, I think I understand every one of these programs but .calm. What does this program do exactly? It must be good considering the price in resources to use and alert it causes when siphoned.
I'd love to know too. It's the only prog I've never used. I assume it freezes enemies, but for how many turns, 1 or 3 like delay? Or maybe I'm totally wrong I guess it would be easy enough to test it out but each of my runs is precious to me and I don't like to waste siphons and resources.
You know how every X turns, a new enemy appears? (See earlier posts in this thread for how that X is determined.) It shuts that off for the rest of the level. You'll still see new enemies when you siphon walls, but they won't show up otherwise. It also makes the grid lines dotted.
Aha, so while stopping the auto reinforcements might be kind of helpful, making the grid lines dotted sounds super useful! (I get it, a cool subtle way to show, like .show's third eye, that a program is in effect on the sector)
I'm pretty sure ALL of the game's persistent (only for that sector) effects have some unique graphical effect that can stack with the other programs' graphical bits (like .show, .atk+, and .delay).
I don't post that much here, but I picked this game up today and it completely blew my mind. This is a must have, and quite possibly one of the best games I've played in a long time.
Didn't the last update come out 2 days ago? Somebody in Apple must be fast tracking these updates! So what is meant by "controlled power-up pairings"? Are there some baddy enhancements or programs that can not show up in the same game as one another?
yeah it took me by surprise how quickly the update went through. this is really high-level balancing details, it won't affect you unless you're streaking several games in a row (but looking at the leaderboard SOME PEOPLE ARE!)
One bug I've found is that when I'm playing on my iPhone 4, and the game is interrupted for a phone call, when the game resumes after the call there is no sound. I have to kill the app completely from the tray and relaunch to get the sound back.
What a great game. I downloaded this a few days back and have played nothing else since. I have just achieved my first level 8 run after reading the excellent post by Matt (ElectricGrandpa) on page 6. The most important advice was to forget scoring until you've beaten the game a few times. I can see playing this for a long, long time as I feel that each time I play I get just that little bit better. Best £4 I have ever spent!!
Glad that tip helped! Another small but important tip: don't feel like you have to use your siphons on the sector you got them on. You can store up to 4 at a time, so if the current sector doesn't have any resource-rich spots or progs you want, just save your siphons for later. Note: this assumes you have enough progs/resources to survive the initial enemy wave on the next sector, of course
Nice game, but in today's ios pricing landscape, i don't see how five bucks are even remotely justified, sorry.
Compared to a lot of other iOS games it is indeed more expensive but you have to consider that for the money you're getting an incredibly replayable and deep Roguelike that isn't your standard fantasy fare. I'm completely happy with the money I paid for it. I can see me playing it a lot. I only started last night but I can see strategies and tactics starting to open up as I have that "One more game" I just wish there were more roguelikes in the store.
