I'm afraid I can't help you with Mount Elbrus, but if you want to meet the man who travels to the center of the earth,
you have to go to Katriania, but not through Cambridge. Just go to Paris first normally, then up the coast from there. Then you can meet him there. If you suggest that he go to Reykjavik, you can then meet him again in Reykjavik later in that same run, on your way back to London.

If someone could help me with the following story lines, I would really appreciate it:

Find love waiting in London (apparently you have to get your picture in the paper, and get stranded in the Amazon, neither of which I've been able to do.)

Save the submariner's life in Brisbane who is looking for a bone-setter. (The least bad result I've obtained so far is letting her know that the newspaper office is in Brisbane, after going to Moreton Bay and losing the letter... But it seems there must be a better ending than that. I've tried manipulating my conversation with the maid at the hotel for a way to get a better result with the submariner, but so far no dice.)

    Getting into Belgrade.

It's kind of crazy how little help can be found online for this game!

First, I would like to thanks Inkle for such a great game! I'm really hooked with 80 Days.

    To get to Belgrade:
On the train from Paris to Vienna, stay in observation desk, Help De Blowitz with his trunks, follow him and during eavesdropping of conversation, ask him where the army is going to. Then once in Vienna, steal the flute which can control automaton soldiers from an Artificer, then while staying in hotel, listen in to conversation of people about the train going to Istanbul via Belgrade. Then while getting to military train, either show the flute or pay if you don't have the flute. Once in Belgrade, you can choose to give the flute to Pavel to help with the war.

    To get to Mt Elbrus:
First in Minsk, meet the journalist who's in love with the dancer and talk to him until he told you that the dancer is going from Novorossysk to Tehran. Then from Odessa, go to Istanbul. Then from Istanbul, sail to Novorossyk. When you talk to dancer, mention about the journalist until she said she would like to meet Dmitri again and ask to stop at Mt Elbrus.

To find automaton with the soul:
It seems there are several of them, 1. from Timbuktu to Marakesh, you will find her. 2. from Munich to Berlin, you can meet Bulbul. 3. from Izmir to Antalya, you can meet the automaton driver who's created by the Paris' Artificer

Anybody can help with find love in London? Or how to get lost in Amazon? Based on Inkle's Twitter, it seems
Goland will find Passepartout in London based on Mr Quispe's picture in the news. Followed Goland to Urga, but she doesn't want to meet Passepartout and Met Mr Quispe from Lima to Tabatinga, but he didn't take Passepartout's picture. I've also tried to go to Tabatinga via Panama city and Bogota by stealing steam shovel. But still can't get lost in Amazon or meet with Quispe.
    .

Also, are there any interesting storyline related to lady with red head in Kabul? Or the missing train before Venice?

    Thanks

Thanks v911 and moondog. You've saved me tons of trips! Next ill try to find love in London. I know you can get your picture taken with Fogg when you are aboard the walking city. Maybe you have to get that to the newspaper in new Zealand?

    Missing train before Venice:
I've figured out the bar car is taken out in the mountain tunnel, the lady in the car gets off in Venice (and walks off with a man with a red braid,) and, if you stay on the train and don't get off in Venice, you find out that the bar car was filled with blueprints. I don't know if you can find her if you get off in Venice - I've done bunches with Fiametta the gondola lady but I've yet to find the train lady.

As for Finding Love in London, I keep thinking that a lot depends on
Passepartout's character description when you get to Lima, as in he's "zealous," "old-fashioned," "suave," etc. I've noticed that I only get certain dialog options when Passepartout is "zealous" vs. "old-fashioned."

I wish there was a way to check on Passepartout's character. Does anyone know how many things he can be? I can remember seeing:

    zealous
    old-fashioned
    suave
    shabby
    dependable

    Any others?

Finally managed to find love in London!
The keys are to be kissed by Goland, follow her to Urga and try to visit her. Then fly with Mr Quispe from Lima to Tabatinga. Stranded/stay in hotel 2-3 nights in Tabatinga until you meet Mr Quispe again in the hotel. Fly with him to Bogota, then he will take your picture once you've arrived there. Alternatively I think you can take picture in Agra.

Hi cstad, thanks for your input.

    More puzzles

So glad this forum has come alive the last few days. I've been obsessed with exploring the game on and off for weeks.

    Some puzzlers for me:

How to get the Artificer's token? I could swear I had that option
    in Paris
on my very first run through but haven't seen it since. Maybe related: I was late for my first train to Paris but haven't seen that since, either. Changed by a patch?

    What is up with
    the history viewing device
    from the
    Library of Alexandria
? I have hauled that stuff around the world but not found the application.

I haven't figured out the Zulu airship stuff yet, either, or found any use other than cash for the cursed gem, the cricket ball, a few other seemingly hard-won items.

I really want to know more about the characteristics cstad mentions and how they effect gameplay. Don't forget 'well-heeled," which seems to be associated with the "Dapper" headline.

Is the teleporter random, or controllable on each use?

Haven't met love in London yet but I think I've almost got it. Same with Belgrade.

Thank you, V911! I was chasing the wrong theory on Finding Love in London - no wonder I could never make it work right!

    With the
    history viewing device,
my thought was that it might have a purpose at
Macchu Picchu (or however you spell the damn thing.)
However, it's only a theory, as I haven't had the chance to try it in the game yet.

    The teleporter:
I've done it twice - went right the first time, which took me to the city on the tip of South Africa (Bahi, Bahy?); went left the second time, which took me to Calcutta.

    I've had Passepartout help
the revolutionaries in both Rome and Batavia, gaining some revolutionary signs (a red braid in Rome and I forget what in Batavia.)
As with other "special" items that you can get during the game, I've yet to figure out if they ever have any use further on in the game.

    So, Passepartout can be:
zestful (not zealous, I had the wrong "z" word in my head)
    well heeled
    shabby
    dependable
    suave
    old-fashioned
    steadfast
    presentable
    courageous

dapper (or was this one just a newspaper headline? Because I've also seen "brainy" on a newspaper headline.)

Thanks for all the help hints everyone! @V911 I did everything you listed to find love in London but it still didn't work out. I have a feeling I screwed in Urga. Can u find Goland in Urga and if so were should I search for her? I was unable to find her there but maybe that's because I didn't complete a certain action while on the mongol caravan? Any help would be appreciated.

On a side note two helpful cheats I discovered are as follows :
    1. If you wish to restart a dialogue sequence ( for example you said the wrong thing and a negative outcome resulted) make sure not to exit the dialogue box and just exit out of the app. When you go back on the app the dialogue will have restarted. This is super helpful as it allows you to experiment with different dialogues and see their outcomes

    2. This cheat is kind of glitchy but if you tap two of the action buttons while traveling ( newspaper, Fogg, conversation) in rapid succession you can have two things accomplished at once (one of the things has to be attending to Fogg) it's all about timing.

Thanks, cstad. My one teleporter use so far was also
right (IIRC) and also landed me in that South African city.

"Dapper" is just a headline. I think another characteristic is "sharp," and that that one gets you the "The Brains" headline.

@DoubleDeuce: thanks for the tips about restart dialogue. It's going to be useful.

More info about love in London:
did you get Mongol Sulde from Goland? In Urga, did you go to Zuun Khuree temple complex and show the sulde to the guards so they can show it to Goland? Goland will not see you there, but she knows you come to visit her because of the sulde.

    Passepartout's Character

"Dapper" is a newspaper headline. Passepartout can also be
    - superior
    - slick

I think these might be arranged in linear order. You get things like shabby and slick when you've been choosing dialogue options that paint him as unwilling to take risks and not interested in other people, and the converse for terms like zestful and courageous. Superior is hard to get.

    Brisbane and Catequil

    I have two questions:

    1) has anyone saved the leg of the injured submariner in Brisbane? does it have something to do with the conversation you have with the Aboriginal woman?

    2) Has anyone managed to avoid being trapped in the pantry on the Catequil?

Hey, cool! Inkle mentions our discussion on Passepartout's character traits in their twitter feed. (sorry, don't know how to link to it.)

    So, we have:
    steadfast
    presentable
    zestful
    courageous
    well-heeled
    suave
    sharp
    old fashioned
    shabby
    slick
    superior

I've never had a "superior" or "slick" Passepartout - I guess I'm too much of a risk taker. :p

I've never been able to avoid the pantry on the Catequil. As for the submariner, I'm suspicious that there is a way to save her using information from the Aboriginal girl you meet the night before, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

    Artificer's token:
You can also get one if you deliver the lapis eye (which you can get from the air pirate right outside Berlin) to the artificer in Istanbul and turn down his offer of cash. He'll give you a token instead.

I think the character qualities are arranged in some kind of linear scale. If you start out reacting negatively to things, being judgmental about people, and being really instrumental and not excited about the journey, you seem to get "old fashioned" and "shabby"; if you take a proactive and optimistic attitude to the journey you seem to progress upwards through some kind of ranks. I'm not sure exactly but I think it's like this:

    Brilliant
    Superior
    Courageous
    Zestful
    Suave
    Well-Heeled
    Steadfast
    Dependable
    Presentable
    Old-Fashioned
    Shabby

But there are also "Slick" and "Sharp" and I'm not sure how they fit in there because I've gone straight from Superior to Sharp and from Courageous to Slick, even though Slick and Sharp both seem like negative terms (at least in context). So it might not be as linear as I think.

Just to be OCD about it, I actually wrote down what characteristics my Passepartout went through on my last play-through.
    It went:
steadfast, presentable, zestful, courageous, zestful, courageous, suave, courageous, well-heeled, presentable, well-heeled, suave, courageous

It seems that courageous is near the top, or at the top, of the "good" characteristics, since I was making Passepartout as nice and helpful as possible. (I've never achieved a "brilliant" Passepartout, though. I didn't even know that was possible.)

    So, maybe,

    Shabby
    Old-Fashioned
    Steadfast
    Dependable
    Presentable
    Superior
    Sharp
    Zestful
    Well-Heeled
    Suave
    Slick
    Courageous
    Brilliant

Based on my observations on my different play-throughs, you can skip about on the list - I've never had a "slick" or "superior" Passepartout, for instance, but I'm most interested in how the dialogue options get affected. I know that certain options come and go based on Passepartout's character and I'm always wondering if certain puzzles can get solved differently if I have a "zestful" Passepartout vs. a "presentable" Passepartout.

ill try asking this again, I beat it in 77 days and got a ending but is there many endings, or is there just 1 endings for making it before 80 days and 1 for being late?

I'm new to this forum, dug out an old password just to be in this thread! I've been to Snowden, been kidnapped on the Nautilus, found love in London and many others, but I simply cannot solve the murder mystery. Could someone please put me out of my misery and give me a hint? TIA.

@melnve It took my Passepartout forever to "solve" the murder too, even though I figured out the answer in real life. I bet the trick for you is the awesome hack that was mentioned by DoubleDeuce: if you close the app mid-dialogue, the dialogue restarts, so you can explore the dialogue branches without going back around the world. Try that on the final scene outside Hawaii. As for a hint: it's always a good idea
to visit the scene of a crime as soon as possible.

@markku There are a few variations on the two basic endings, all with minor differences, some randomized and some shaped by your actions or by the things in your luggage.

@v911 I did! Wound up with an open window and a suitcase full of components that I never used again.

Thanks a lot for the token acquisition tips, folks.
