I got pissed for a while at that, then thought well this fits in well with the general unpredictability of the game.

Apart from that 1 buggy playthough, I have finished the game 3 times, in 66, 80 and 55 days. Looking forward to trying more routes to figure out the fastest possible way to go round.

The closest i have came is 3/4 thru the USA on day 77. I could not explore and the only route open was to new orleans which was directly south of whatever city i was in. How come i could not explore??? I doubt i would have made it anyways but that totally ended it. This was one of my fav books and movies when i was a kid and this is a great take on it. Do not think i will win much though :)))

Loving this but I got badly burned on my second playthrough going to Cairo. A guy on a boat offered me several thousand to investigate a cargo that might include smuggled goods. It took me off course but it would still get me to Cairo and I needed the money so took the job and found out what he needed to know.

But then I couldn't find what to do in Cairo to find the man or get the money. I ended up wasting several days trying to see if options would appear but no. So the trip ended up costing me a significant amount of time and money and I never got that cash.

Anyone know what I was supposed to have done?

Can anyone explain what the comments such as "you are feeling zestful" and "your relationship with Fogg has slightly improved" actually do?
I can't work out what difference these choices make.

Really glad we saw this! There's a bug in the story logic here, that we'll fix for the next update. [Sophos was being a bit too untrustworthy before; now, he's going to be more a man of his word.]

Note, that if you find anything else weird, using the Send Feedback button in the Cog menu is really helpful, because it sends over you save game so we can figure out exactly what's happened!

    cheers!

Ah, well I'm glad my little detour has helped identify a problem. I didn't know about the Send Feedback option so I'll be sure to use that if anything else crops up. Thanks!

    This game. THIS GAME!

I've played through this game four times now, and I'm totally enthralled!

Some questions I have for Inkle:

Will there be a gameplay book/guide ever released? There's so much rich story content here, I don't think I'm going to be able to be sure that I've experienced it all without one. The questions abound: Who killed Madame Shu? is it possible to make Passpartout and Fogg SPOILER a couple, as implied by dialogue options in an encounter with Jamil in Tangier, and the 'sleepwalking' incident between Honolulu and San Francisco? How many women could be Passpartout's love interest - or is there one specific lady we're supposed to find? Is there a way to take the journey exactly as it plays in the book? What is in Reykjavik? What sign are the nuns looking for? Do the diggers really drink blood? Why are the children in that little town in Africa tapping Passpartout's name in morse code? How many items can you collect on your trip that will be hung in the club when you complete the journey?

Also, along the same lines of better appreciating the story, one of the gameplay options I really appreciated in Sorcery! 2 was the rewind button. With the amount of time it takes to do a playthrough of 80 Days, it's a little frustrating to fail at the murderer puzzle repeatedly, and know you've got to start all over from scratch. Is there a plan to incorporate something like that into patches -- or something like a world diary that you could turn on if you want to that would record things you discovered on previous trips around the globe?

Is it possible to go around the globe twice in 80 days?

Is Inkle going to do us all a favor and expand to they can put more of this incredible experience into the market quicker?

Does anyone know how to make use of adjusted departure times? You know, where you look at the world map and fog manages to get a discount? I am baffled on how to get discounted fares when the departure is in a few days time. For example, you will negotiate the fare down, and you bank balance then decreases bit I can't see away to then get on the train or ship that you paid for in advance. Any help
    Would be appreciated.

Looking at the ghost runs, I know it's possible to go west instead of east, any tips?

Well I have had an absolutely disastrous journey. It started off brilliantly until I lost that money and time in Cairo and that turned out to be the least of my worries. Fogg got cholera and the journey never recovered, with him being too sick to travel many routes. Eventually we ended up in Africa with no money and I'm there now having spent around two weeks begging as there are no banks anywhere nearby. A sad end to the tale of Willy Fogg and his feline manservant.

Looking forward to trying again though!

I would love more options to discover routes when you're stuck in a place though. Seems you can only explore once no matter how long you're stuck there and so if you just have only one route option and problems like not enough money, you could be stuck for a very long time without anything to do.

Eh, that's a bit unclear and initially I was puzzled as well.

You don't get a discount. You pay EXTRA to make the trip start sooner. E.g. the ship is going to leave in 3 days. You pay some money, and you make it leave in 2 days. Then you just wait 2 days and take it as normal (and pay for the trip as normal, in addition to what you paid earlier).

a try if you like the story of 80 days, since it's from the same writer and also extremely well written.

By the way, here in China many people want to buy 80 days but feel the language barrier a bit formidable... In a review from a local site, "tons of English reading" is even listed as a major problem of the game.

Verne is a household name here and people have no issues with text based games as translated Japanese visual novels are extremely popular... I am sure the potential audience is HUGE, although it's unlikely to see an official localization coming...

Managed an 80 day journey on my third playthrough, just barely. I was in Lisbon on the 80th day thinking I had failed due to a poisoning mishap and then managed to get a quick transfer to London. It was nervewracking as I wasn't sure I'd make it and I arrived in around 9pm to a celebration. It was all rather tense and exciting.

Interesting how different things can seem to play out in the same locations. The amount of possible variety here seems pretty incredible.

Has anyone noticed that if you touch the cog icon you're told what the "playthrough's seed" is, and those are aptly called like the chapters of the original book, e.g. "I - In Which Phileas Fogg and Passepartout Accept Each Other, the One as Master, the Other as Man".

This seems to imply that even if the game's events are randomised, they might be randomised in the same way for all players on the same playthrough.

And I wonder what will happen on the 38th playthrough :)

These have me puzzled as well. I'm assuming they made a difference to the story at some point, but if they did, I missed it.

Incredibly good, deep and entertaining. Same issue as commented above: the fact that the game is exclusively in English limits its market. I know for sure many Spaniards who would like to buy the game if only they could understand it. for the devs., I could do the translation for free, and be happy that the game reached more people.
