You should email the devs, they might not be getting enough request for a translation. Or one might be in the works, I imagine a game like this, localization might take a bit to get right. By the way, love Belgium beer, I find it much better then the german bier I've been drinking.....now to try to find a way across SE Asia......

On North Pole, if you choose other ship you go to Reykjavik. And I can confirm from my last play yesterday that you can still go directly to New York from San Fransisco.

Hey! So I have a question. This game is from the same makers of the highly praised Sorcery. Now in all honesty, although I found Sorcery enjoyable and well put together I found altogether not too replayable. To be honest not at all, eventhough alot of reviews said it was. Mainly because I felt that all the routes were a bit samey and I quickly found out what each route brought you. It became a rather predictable afair. Now I'm looking at 80 days and I hear even more praise. But I'm a tat sceptical after Sorcery. I don't mean to put down Inkle as a studio, because the high production values are obvious, it's just that it felt either the game or me was missing something. Is this game very similair to Sorcery game mechanics/gameplay-wise or is it way more replayable? Thanks!

80 days has more replay value because you can choose to go through different cities each time, and there are different things that happen for each of them. I didn't bother to try different routes in sorcery, but I've already played 80 days through five times, going different routes.

What I'd like to see is for the devs to allow you to backtrack on a route. There were a few times when I picked up an item that I could sell for a huge amount of money in a certain city, so I angle myself in that direction and then discover to my dismay that I routed just north or south of that city and can't get back to it. I think it would be one fun strategy option to see how freaking rich you could be by the end of your journey.

Also, am I the only one disappointed that the North Pole route isn't actually around the world?

So I filed a report for the Times -- travelled on the orient express where I met a reporter, then travelled to Cairo where I met a him again in the souk. He suggested he had heard reports of an Ottoman secret weapon, which I promised to look out for. Discovered it in Aswan, travelled to the nearest town, dictated the report at the telegraph office, saw the headline in the times on the round the world journey.

Now that I have shared a hint, I have a request for one as well:

What is the story with the toymaker in Herat? Most of the time I miss him completely. A few times I was able to speak to him but he was not helpful. Is there any way to get his assistance and ride that rocket we see in the city?

    Respectfully,

    Brian P.

I just started the game today, but I have two questions:
    1) Can you rearrange items from one suitcase to another? If I have 3 cases and I'm told I can only take 2, I've sold items but I still have 3 suitcases; they're just half full. I haven't found a way to consolidate my remaining items into fewer cases.
    2) Is there some overall character panel that I haven't discovered? I get told that my relationship with Fogg is improving, or I've become "dependable" or some other quality, but I don't see any scale of what this all adds up to. Maybe I'll find out at the end!
Thank you if anyone has any tips for me. I love how unique this game is!

    1) you should just be able to drag and drop between them, but you need to make sure the shapes fit (I mean some items are 1 wide, some 2 wide and some 3... Move things around so you can fit items you want to keep next to each other, there's like an invisible grid / slots in each case)

    2) no there isn't, it's just a loose thing behind the scenes but does have a small impact at the end if you make it back to London I think!

It is an amazing game, isn't it!! Totally charming atmosphere, and a great design achievement. I don't do much reading (of books) but this is my kind of book :)

Thank you, Baracus. I'll try again and pay more attention to the shapes that I'm trying to move. Yes, it is an amazing game! It's right up my alley, and I'm so glad I discovered it. :)

How did you get to Gastown? I've played through several times and haven't been able to unlock it. I did get to the north pole from Kristiana, but I think I only had one option when leaving.

another tip for moving items: when you try to pick up an item, hold down on it for a longer time before you try to drag it to another suitcase. I have to touch it until it jumps a little higher under my finger.

    I wouldn't know. We
all died trying to get to the Pole! Froze to death about half an inch from it :D Might try again to see what I did wrong.

Hi, I just started the game yesterday and have been through a solid number of playthroughs.

The North Pole was by far my shortest route, about 42 days. Speaking of the North Pole, as someone previously asked before, is it possible to
make Fogg and Passepartout a couple?
There have been other instances of subtext in regards to this, but on the North Pole route, it is totally possible for
Passepartout to explicitly declare his love for Fogg once and implicitly at least 3 times, and even confess his love to Fogg if the latter dies after the ship breaks down and before rescue comes.

    No Market??!!

Hi, I couldn't see this question posted before...

Is the market only active / selectable when you actually have funds? I was playing yesterday, $0 left but with a ton of stuff to sell (worth $2k+). However, the Market icon did not appear until I received money from the bank.

This was unfortunate as I ended up wasting three days requesting/waiting for the money over a weekend.

Even worse, I then completed the game in 81 days.

I think you've been playing the sequel, around the world in 81 days :p

Not sure about the market. I know there was one town where the button just stayed greyed out and it wasn't a Sunday, I had enough cash and the tine of day was before noon so don't know why sometimes you cannot enter the market. I was even told some of my items were worth a lot here.

It's a bug, which happened to me on New York once. I waited for 4-5 days there thinking it is cuz of a reason like day being Sunday or something, but it stayed same, greyed out. I also had a rifle in my backpack which was valuable at New York. Couldn't sell it so needed to draw funds from bank for zeplin to London.

I think you can sell items without a market by clicking on your suitcase. You just can't buy items this way.

I guess it is very hard to finish the original trip in 80 days(London-->Paris-->Nice-->Rome--Athens-->Cairo-->Suez-->Bombay-->Calcutta-->Hong Kong-->Yokohama-->San Francisco-->New York-->London. If I manage to get to Suez in time, I will be lack of money to Calcutta. Calcutta and San Francisco chaos also costing a lot of time. Have anyone finish it?

I went London - Paris - Vienna - Budapest - Moscow (with side-trip to St. Petersburg) - Vladivostok - Yokohama - San Francisco - Albuquerque - New Orleans - New York - Porto Delgado - Lisbon - London. 76 days, though it was really touch-and-go in a couple of places. San Francisco wasn't so bad, since I just went to Albuquerque at once.

My feeling is, that beyond paying attention to lucrative items and choosing the itinerary where you can sell them, it is better not too waste too much money on expediting travel during the first 40 days. If you have a wait of 3-4 days, better spend it on drawing more money, even if it looks like you have enough. Because, inevitably, you'll run out of money down the road and will have to wait anyway. Also, a slightly roundabout route could be speedier, or not much slower and much cheaper than the direct one.

On my second trip, I'll try the North to South circumnavigation of the globe. This is truly a great adventure game, worthy of all the accolades bestowed on it.

    Hi!

I just discovered this game two weeks ago and have spent many hours to play the game! So far I have succeeded the mission in four games and failed in two. I have not even travelled through Africa, missed some cities in Central Asia and South America! Great job, inkle!

One thing, though, I am little bit disappointed when noticing that encounters and events in a place are the same in all game. I was hoping for different encounters/events. Or am I missing something here?

I agree with previous observations in this thread that there should be extra routes to America and from West Coast to East Coast. Northern route from Russia to Alaska or travelling west instead of east would be lovely! If inkle is planning to release expansions, I'd love to buy them!
