Compete to become the most famous ruler of all time as you wield god-like powers over the course of three major Epochs in Egyptian history. Reviews: "Reiner Knizia's Ra app is beautifully done." - TUAW "Ra is another brilliant 4.5 [out of 5] Dimple pleasure." - AppSmile.com "[Ra] is very stunning and impressive! Keep up the good work!" - Reiner Knizia Build an empire that will live forever. Collect tiles representing various aspects of Egyptian life and civilization while your rivals try to do the same. Wisely use the few tokens that Ra, the sun god, has given you to earn your place of honor in the Valley of the Kings. Combining deep strategy with an intuitive and beautiful visual presentation, Ra captures the mysterious lure of Ancient Egypt and will bring you back for more time and time again. Choose your favorite of 8 different Egyptian gods as your avatar, and then discover the true power of the gods as you compete against them in solo play. With no setup time required, no pieces to lose, and no arguments about the rules, the future of board games is here and Ra gives you exactly what you want -- to play! How to play: Tap the draw button to reveal a single tile. The player with the highest sun (token from Ra) begins. A player without tokens takes no action on their turn. When an epoch ends, players receive or lose fame points depending on the tiles they hold. The player with the most fame after three epochs is the winner. Codito got some flack for an initially weak AI in Medici, so how was that handled this time around? Each AI Ranges in difficulty but also has personality traits to give a more human like experience. Playing with a mix of opponents really mixes the game up quite a bit. In the last build the traits were switched to Ranking numbers so I can't list their actual traits. Although that may be for the best since knowing how they play means you can easily beat them. mrbass Well-Known Member Oct 7, 2008 2,210 0 0 United States of America http://mrbass.org/iphone/bestgames #12 mrbass, Nov 3, 2010 Definitely one of the best Knizia games. Started playing this in 2005 was one of the first games I was ever introduced to. I can't see many more updates to this besides game center perhaps for online multiplayer and that's about it. It is really polished. I'm curious to see what people think of this game for those who have never played it before in real life. medianotzu Well-Known Member Nov 21, 2009 3,803 9 36 #13 medianotzu, Nov 3, 2010 Wow, I've been waiting for this, but $6.99 is a surprise. I thought it was a lot like Medici and would debut at a similar price. What makes it worth over twice the price? Incidentally, if it had a well-implemented global online multiplayer feature I'd buy it now without a second thought. acrotran Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2010 741 0 0 #14 acrotran, Nov 3, 2010 Last edited: Nov 3, 2010 In the description it says: "Fast, easy, fun game play for 2 to 5 players" That line really needs to be fixed ASAP. I stopped reading when I got to that line. Then, after reading this discussion, I noticed that several lines further down it says "8 different AI opponents to compete against". So presumably you can choose how many AI opponents you wish to play against? If that's the case, and if the opponents use different strategies, a multi-player game should be very challenging, even if the individual opponents are not as good as you are. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #15 ojtitus, Nov 3, 2010 Yeah, I'm gonna wait a day or two to see if $6.99 is the sale price or if it hasn't been marked down yet. The mention of a sale price is pretty far down the description and mixed in, it's kind of hard to find unless you're really looking for it. I actually love Reiner Knizia's other game Tigris and Euphrates which is in the top 10. Hmm, I'm already playing Reiner Knizia's Samurai about 10x a day w/ friends. Should I bite and get this one as well? Hmm, will that cut into my Carcassonne iPhone play time as well? Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. Ra is universal for 6.99 Medici iPhone is 2.99 + Medici HD 3.99 = 6.98 So you may not be getting a universal app but the devs are trying to be fair and consistent with their pricing. Unless the 6.99 IS the limited sale price and it's being raised to 8.99+ after that. I've added both Medici games and RA to my appshopper wishlist hoping for a "the devs must be crazy" sale haha P.S. for Strider - the devs are taking votes for their next game and T&E is one of the choices so you may want to vote for it (they have links on their twitter) (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
