You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources. Challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI: Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his... You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps. Exciting adventures await you in the two new scenarios "Enchanted Land" and "The Great Canal". Answer: Don’t worry, your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu. Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it? Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter "CatanWarp*" (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well. Question: Are dice rolls really random? Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game! ***** Questions or suggestions for improvements: Mail to [email protected] We are looking forward to your feedback! I was just thinking about this game last night, and I decided I would just stop hoping for an iPad version and just get the iPhone one. I was going to get up this morning and get it. I guess I will just wait for tonight and get this one instead. chandlogan Well-Known Member Jul 9, 2010 104 0 0 #5 chandlogan, Sep 29, 2010 definitely an Insta-Buy for me! Does this game support single player? It sounds like it does, but if so, is it any fun single player? Good AI? Any thoughts from those who have the iPhone version? Or from the dev? Also, since it sounds like some folks have the iPhone version, is the AI fun to play with in Single Player? Thanks for any replies! clarsonx Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2009 100 0 16 #14 clarsonx, Sep 29, 2010 Yes, this is an exceedingly disappointing release. It appears to be no different than the iPhone app, so I had to pay again for no improvements. This version still smacks of a lazy port of a cell phone game. Ugly graphics that have annoying animation that can't be turned off. Lots of wasted space in the graphical layout so it looks like mostly ocean. Very little effort went into designing to take advantage of the iPad. Clunky UI with small buttons and too many presses/swipes to get what you want. No online multiplayer. No tutorial, so the game will be very unfriendly to new players. I wish I could take my purchase back. No expansions. Carcassonne set the bar very high for board game apps on the iPhone/iPad. When you compare this Catan to Carcassone it brings tears to your eyes. It amazes me that developers can't look at an app like Carcassone and immediately see what is lacking in their app. Carcassone is a pleasure to play. This Catan, like the iPhone version, is constantly frustrating to play. kainen Active Member Jun 25, 2010 27 0 0 #15 kainen, Sep 29, 2010 damn. this was going to be a furious INSTANT BUY for me on the ipad but now I'm starting to waver. I tried the Nintendo DS version a while back and it's the same ported version as all the others. Interface is terrible and is painful to play - and I love Settlers! I so wish a capable developer could get the license for Settlers...I guess I'll just keep on dreaming. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #18 drelbs, Sep 29, 2010 Lame, especially on the heels of Samurai and Neuroshima Hex announcing universal builds... Truth is while I love Catan, I already don't really like the iPhone version, no way I'd even consider this. clarsonx Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2009 100 0 16 #19 clarsonx, Sep 29, 2010 Two more games with vastly superior implementations than this Catan. Add in Kingsburg, Mu, Tichu, Small World, Medici, etc. and it is very sad that Catan was done so poorly. It deserves much better.
