I say keep your ipod and wait for the second gen ipad & see how the product is received by then. The apps will be cheaper (there will be limited competition at first so they'll be more expensive at launch), faster hardware, possible increased battery life and hopefully will have a camera :-D
Well considering your iPad is like a big iPod Touch I would say try it out first, but if your a fan of using accelerometer or shooting games, be wary, you might feel like that odd ball kid in the movie who sucks at PE
well lets be honest, if you use an ipad anywhere but home you will look like a weirdo and everyone will laugh, + you would need to carry around a smaller laptop case to carry it. Seriously, I dont expect anyone will accept people using an ipad on a bus or something in the way they do an ipod/iphone. People will think you are wierd using it at all outside of your house, atleast initially. So if you do, either only really use it at home or prepare for weird looks.
