My iPod Touch (4th Gen) safely updated everything. Haven't lost a single bit of data.

No update has every done that, at least not intentionally. But you should definitely make sure you have a current backup in iTunes before applying any update. Also be sure to get any photos onto your computer that are not already on there. You shouldn't lose anything, but if something goes awry you want to be able to restore from backup, yes?

I updated my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 without incident. Only thing I had to do was clear up some space on my iPhone 4 - the update requires 1 GB of free space on there (I'm not sure what it needs on iPad as I had plenty), FYI.

You've been swiping it up, right?

I have to swipe the camera icon up to take me to the camera app.

Cruch's statement of "not intentionally" is exactly right. I updated last night and wish I hadn't. The update failed with an error and then my only option was to completely restore my device (didn't even give me the option to restore from a previous backup).

Then, I tried it like 3-4 times on my PC and even restoring wasn't working. Needless to say I wasn't happy.

Finally decided to install iTunes on my wife's laptop and got the restore to work. But lost all my apps and saves as a result.

I had problems with my iPod Touch 2G not syncing and finally just resorted to downloading things directly to my device. Now with a 3GS, I had hoped I could keep the backups up to date. Yesterday's experience killed that hope. Already hated iTunes syncs. Now, I think I'm done with it.

Think I'm going the route of downloading directly and hope that I don't need to sync for any reason (like apps removed from the store).

And the sad thing is, 5.1 really isn't that big of a change for me. If I could only go back in time....

Updated and yes. Battery life extended by a lot! :D I can finally play MC3 without getting low battery after the first match while having half battery. :)

What are the apps that everyone is having problems with? I updated my iPad but haven't gotten around to updating my phone yet.

I like that they've changed the lockscreen camera to always be there instead of requiring a double tap of the home button.
