Could well be true in my opinion. There's every reason why a camera and FaceTime would be included, as well as a Gyroscope.
I think a camera is finally coming but I doubt it'll equal the quality of what's in the iPhone. I sure hope the rumors are true but don't get your hopes up. Remember the disappointments from last year's iPod touch after everyone drank all the camera rumors?
perhaps a camera, but maybe like the nano, only does video and face time thing. I doubt it will have a gyro in it, perhaps settling for just a compass
Rumors will be rumors. Remember all those 3rd Gen iPod Touch cases we saw last year with the holes in them, hinting at the camera? Guess what the 3rd Gen iPod Touch came with? Everything but a camera. And it seems weird that they'd target a specific demographic they already have. Teens/kids are a large number of users because most can't get an iPhone. Why are they re-targeting the conquered?
I think there's good reason there'll be FaceTime due to it being only useable through Wi-Fi (For now) So the iPod is a perfect cater for it.
Somehow I doubt it will get a front-facing camera or FaceTime; it's a possibility, as I can imagine Steve-O wanting to spread FaceTime far and wide to hasten adoption. At the same time though there has always been a different feature set between the iPhone and iPod Touch. Usually the Touch gets more storage while the iPhone gets more software features and hardware enhancements. They do this to give people a reason to own both, and so that neither will cannibalize sales of the other too much. If they give the Touch the front camera, same rear camera, and FaceTime as the iPhone, in addition to the retina display and A4 (which is all but a foregone conclusion) then what's left to sufficiently differentiate the brands, other than the phone part? What I can see happening with the Touch is: - New A4 processor to bring it in line with the rest of Apple's mobiles - Retina display - Gyroscope - the 3GS's rear camera (3mp), VGA video Can go either way: - Front camera w/ FaceTime (only if Steve wants to increase adoption and use rates, which is a distinct possibility) - Larger battery (Apple always likes bumping usage times, but this will depend on how much physical space they have, and the lower power draw of the A4 will probably mean more usage time per charge anyway so Apple may not need to bump the battery size.) Won't happen/no change: - Same storage capacity - Same or similar body design - The iPhone 4's 5MP cam or HD video capabilities
Gyroscope I could see for gaming perhaps. If they are to put a camera into it they will have to thicken it up a bit. I think the 5mp camera is about as thick as the iPod it self.
