And even though I play all my mobile games without a controller, I would say this would indeed be better with a controller. At least the camera movement part. With touch controls, it’s a bit cumbersome. Nothing game breaking though. Overall the touch controls are nice and the game is fully playable with them, being a slow paced affair. Graphics on the other hand, it’s good. But I was expecting more. Lighting is nice but objects lack a certain level of detail. Kinda hurts the immersion if I’m being honest. But apart from that, a good release for horror fans on mobile. anthony78, Stronsay, agreen437 and 1 other person like this. agreen437 Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2014 1,703 222 63 #5 agreen437, Sep 10, 2024 Cool thanks @Rocksaint Rocksaint likes this. Dark and creepy atmosphere much of which down to sound effects, they give me the shivers in places. Really feel I’m stumbling around a decaying old hotel. Agree that the interface is cumbersome, especially as maps need to be frequently opened to find interactive areas. Another inconvenience is manual saving only at certain (phonograph) points. I’ll live with all that though as I’m hooked by the premise and that haunting song. agreen437 and Rocksaint like this. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,971 722 113 England #7 psj3809, Sep 10, 2024 Last edited: Sep 10, 2024 Cheers for the reviews. We are way past the times where developers could get away with wonky controls and barebone games like flappy birds or doodle jump if they had any hopes of earning the mad stacks and make it to the App Store top. People demand more now. If you look at App Store reviews nowadays for most games that have a bunch of players, many people demand controller support. Many people give the games 1-star ratings because they lack controller support. Mobile gaming for many today does not mean just passing time on a phone playing silly games. I think there are plenty of people now that exclusivly play all their games on ipads/iphones and see that as gaming. Mobile should not be frowned upon - the landscape is not what it used to be. Food for thought.. agreen437 Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2014 1,703 222 63 #9 agreen437, Sep 10, 2024 Gave it a quick go way too scary once you get inside the mansion environments are really nice are there weapons in this game? I have to find two keys don’t think I’ll continue though without a controller I’ll keep the game downloaded just in case there’s an update anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #10 anthony78, Sep 10, 2024 I own a Backbone but really only for streaming or remote play of console games. I still don’t like buying games where the preferred method of playing is a controller. It defeats the purpose of buying a mobile game IMO. Playing with a big butt screen must be tiring and external input is more appropriate. But, then, iPad doesn't count as "mobile" in a strict way. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,971 722 113 England #12 psj3809, Sep 11, 2024 Anyway ! Has anyone bought this? Any good then ? Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #14 Stronsay, Sep 11, 2024 Can only say story starts off well, looks good, sounds good - mobile UI not so good. Seems like a huge game, will likely take some time to assess what it's like overall. Bought it on PC though as it's cheaper than iOS this week, allows me to plug in headphones for 3D sound, and solves the control issues. Haven't played Bioshock, but it's horror.
