Seriously, I started off with the darkest intentions, wanting to create a horror game, but the urge to laugh took over. Sure, it's an adventurous game with mysterious elements... However, with constant fourth-wall breaks, irony, jokes, and vulgarity, you tend to forget about ghosts! Let me introduce myself, I'm Sui! I'm Italian, and I'm a solo indie developer. I've dedicated myself so much to this project that I've ended up inside it in flesh and pixels. Sitting behind my desk, I will narrate the events and guide you by the hand through this journey... ...A journey that will keep you glued to the screen from the first to the last episode. Yes, you heard right, EPISODES! Ghost In The Mirror is an anthology of graphic adventures. A series of ghost stories characterized by a lot of storytelling, puzzles, and wild humor. A collection of modern adventure games that still capture the spirit of the '90s games. This is "Here Be Dragons", the first episode of the saga. In this adventure I'll take you to the 18th century, and together we'll experience the adventures of Roger, a morally dubious boy on the run from the law. A journey that starts in a fishing village, with light puzzles and comedic moments, but will take us adrift at sea, surrounded by mystery, ghosts, and... ...Well, I don't like to reveal too much about the plot, so that's enough! You'll collect items necessary to progress in the game, which, if used creatively, might reveal the programmer's sheer foolishness. Your choices will determine the outcome of the adventures, offering a personalized and replayable gaming experience. But the game has a huge problem. It has no respect for the time of the player. There are so damn much big scenes where only two things can be interacted with so that you end up running around too much, without a fasttravel or map system - till you come to the conclusion: the game is 90% running and only 10% adventure game. It is somehow sad, because it feels like it would be so much better if everything was much tighter. And because of all the running around in all the scenes that can be visited from the get-go, you totaly lose focus of the objectiv and the story. I can feel the fun and heart the dev put into this, it’s somehow wild. But it also feels like if he just wanted to implement everything he thought of without distilling it into the essence. sebgo likes this. The map let's you fast-travel to the 6 main areas of the village and it can save you a lot of time. ...But frankly a very important aspect of this game is related to wondering around, trying objects on the wrong hotspot to get a lot of puns! (there are 9k words in the script, and most of them are related to these interactions). Anyway, I understand that nowadays many players want to go straight to the point and not to read all my nonsense jokes! So, to satisfy everyone the next episode will have a better fast-travel option and I'll let you use it from the first to the last scene. ...I know the complain will then change to "this map makes everything too straightforward", right? sebgo likes this.
