Like Hoyoverse titles, it feels like a cool game with a gacha mechanic, rather than a gacha mechanic with a game attached. The servers are getting slammed, though, and login in can take time. Now that I’ve chance to wade in a little deeper here, I’m blown away. This is a AAA game with a gacha component, at a very similar level as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. Great combat with character specific customization, Yakuza-style city exploration, and fun character-driven side quests. They’ve really captured the look and tone of the anime, but the game feels like it’s own thing, rather than a beat-by-beat recreation of the original story. After the disappointment of Black Clover, this is awesome. Before jumping in, I’d recommend watching the first season of One Punch Man — it’s short, hilarious, and well worth your time.
