This is going be one epic game. I like reigns, it was something different and fun to play. Not to mention easy to play while doing pretty much anything. It is still on my device but I cannot remember the last time I played it. This is what the genre needed. It’s a true Roguelite!! It’s somewhat like reigns with four directions. Sometimes you can see your choices (based on your current equipment) but most the time it’s is covered. There is lots of growth between rounds! You grow your charter by playing and by collecting gems. There is a store to enhance you character offense and defence. A skill tree to climb it’s awesome. It maintains the easy play style. Battles are done “automagically” as it looks to say. So be prepared to win or lose quick and start again. Just like reigns really. But this is great because it keeps the simple one hand and quick play style of reigns. It adds in random dungeon crawling with cards and great roguelite options. I can see lots of people loving this. I expect to be spending lots of time with it. Excited to get back to it. Looking forward to hearing others thoughts. A nice change from the left and right reigns-likes. My only request would be to have an option for the battles to just show instant results and skip the auto-animations. Perhaps even skip the “depixelization” of the next card and have it just flip over or something. Perhaps I’m just too spoiled by Luck Be a Landlord lol. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #7 ste86uk, Jan 10, 2024 @elcrazy nice feedback, you make it sound great. Especially in a market in which players are used to barely paying anything at all. Also, who says Whalen wouldn‘t have used AI tools for Dream Quest, if it was available back in the day. Also, great AI art needs good input for great results. So, dev did well in this regard (in case it‘s AI art). Game feels very cohesive. It‘s different if a big company like Wizards of the Coast uses AI for their stuff. But small devs with limited resources, hell yeah, those new tools are a gift! ste86uk and elcrazy like this. That's based just off the general vibe, the pig thing and the mugs just really scream it to me. It's very true that if you like the style then perfect. I just think that with the rising prevalence of it that it'd be good for consumers to know so they can decide if they want to support it. If I were an artist then this could be a massive turn off and something I don't want to give money too. Pickman, troyster, ste86uk and 1 other person like this. I’ve defeated the death king and returned to the castle at level 12. Now I’m staring down the barrel of an incredibly slow metaprogression system with no sense of objective. I mean, I guess I can hunt for the plant king and hope he drops my first cosmic shard? It’s such a sluggish loop at this point. elcrazy likes this. For me it’s the background progression between runs, the variety of the runs make the grinding in the background a bit less tedious. Like Dead Cells if every run was the same it would be a snooze fest but luckily there’s all sorts to mix it up! Same kind of formal, different kind of game. But I guess the appeal is different for different people depending on what you enjoy. Rocco SE Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2020 267 258 63 Male Modern Mime Artist Austria https://silentrocco.net #17 Rocco SE, Jan 13, 2024 RGN plays a big role here, yes. But so does strategy and making the right choices. Only thing I would criticize with this game is that the grind becomes way too slow rather quickly. But the longer you play, the better your runs become, and not only because of the meta-upgrades. You also learn to play better. se99jmk Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2010 300 16 18 #18 se99jmk, Jan 13, 2024 I’ve been enjoying it - lv 9 so far - but still unsure about tactics. Sure if you get +hp for going left, -hp for right, it’s easy to make some choices, but beyond that I’m not sure what strategy is, as it feels pretty random? I’ve been focusing on dark green easy cards to slow the chaos increase, presumably moving on to yellow, orange and red cards as your buffs improve? Any other tips? oh, and what do cosmos shards DO? ShinHadoukin Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2015 972 143 43 #19 ShinHadoukin, Jan 14, 2024 I would love it if the swipe needed could be smaller. The swipe has to be so long that swiped do not move sometimes. If you hold the swipe you can see some of the adjacent cards but I think you should be able to just quick swipe in any direction to quickly move. adin and se99jmk like this. se99jmk Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2010 300 16 18 #20 se99jmk, Jan 14, 2024 Agree with the quick swipe! Hold and drag to peep, or quick swipe to move… Also really needs option to continue a previous run if it closed app in the background! adin and ShinHadoukin like this.
