In this fast paced puzzle-shooter mash-up, you are the captain of the defense force of Gravitas, a peaceful galaxy far away from Earth. One day a wormhole appears in the center of Gravitas and begins raining debris and trash into the atmosphere of the galaxy’s various planets. To defend against the invasion, you must match three or more of the same types of trash and launch them back into the wormhole. Hit the wormhole with enough debris to save each planet. Complete all 20 levels to eventually uncover the source of the wormhole and shut it down. GAMEPLAY - Move the falling blocks vertically around the board to match three or more of the same type horizontally or vertically and launch them into space. - Beware of garbage blocks that cannot be matched. Clear enough blocks to save the planet before time runs out or before the trash and debris pile up and crushes you and the planet below. - Launch matches vertically to fire blocks off the top of the screen to score against the wormhole. Clear enough blocks before time runs out to save the planet. - Chain together matches to score combos and bonus points. - Utilize power-ups like the Clear Bomb or Destruction Slam to clear trash and debris. FEATURES - Classic Mode: Complete 20 levels, each with their own unique environment, gravitational physics, and theme. Clear the target number of blocks before time runs out. Unlock additional levels, modes, and achievements. - Quick Play Mode: Choose to play a single round of any cleared level but you can adjust the number of blocks, the difficulty level, and the time remaining. - Two Player Mode: Play head-to-head against a friend locally or online. As you clear blocks, debris is dropped on your opponent. - Marathon Mode: Clear as many blocks as you can before getting crushed. As you clear more blocks the game increases in difficulty. Compete with friends for the highest leaderboard score. - Grav Lab Mode: Once you have completed all of the levels in Classic Mode, you can access the Gravity Lab where you build and play a custom level with unique planetary physics of your choice. Modify gravity, spawn rate, restitution, and more. ** Gravitas is available on both iPhone and iPad devices. The iPad version provides even more precise gameplay with support for the Apple Pencil. Absolutely loved it, I must still have my copy somewhere… This does look really good but I’m not on ios16 yet, it’s a reason to upgrade if it’s decent. Anotherkellydown likes this. What I love is the support for Apple Pencil right from the bat on iPads. Makes the matching much more precise and convenient. The gameplay mechanics are pretty straightforward and there’s not much of a learning curve. It’s great for casual sessions. Just pick it up, play a little. Goes right up my alley. What I really like is the music, overall Game Center integration including leaderboard (even though there’s only one for Marathon mode, hence the singular) and achievements. There are multiple game modes like quick play, story mode, marathon, even PvP multiplayer (local and online), but judging by 5 players in the leaderboards there’s not much of a player base to play against (yet). What I really don’t like though is the overall graphics. It’s smooth and everything, it’s just doesn’t look very appealing to me. There are multiple visual themes but they’re too distracting for my taste. Luckily, the most acceptable one is the colorful theme in Marathon mode. You can also choose a theme in quick play. But for the story mode you need to stick with the themes that are predefined. It’s not unplayable but considering you’re playing on the really small portion of a screen, those themes are unnecessarily detailed and confusing. Especially game console cartridges. Nice idea, but it just doesn’t work very well under the circumstances already mentioned. Funny thing is on iPhone the UI is totally different. Almost the whole screen is the “game board” so in comparison it’s even bigger than on iPad. I wish it was the case for iPad as well. Anyway. The game’s a lot of fun. There’s not much to gain in terms of investing a lot of time into it. It’s not an RPG or rogue-like after all. It’s primarily a high score chaser with a short story mode and online PvP options if there’s someone to go up against. I wish it looked nicer though. But for 2 bucks I can easily recommend it. Thanks for all the detailed impressions / feedback, etc. that helps all of us in the long-run. I did play a few rounds of Gravitas! and I’ll be darned if this doesn’t scratch that Meteos itch I didn’t realize I had. Definitely worth the 2 bucks in my opinion. I’d say even for people that haven’t played the game this pays homage to, it’s easy enough to grasp the mechanics. I find it slightly fiddly to put pieces in the exact spot I want, and sometimes even grabbing the one I want is tricky. The blocks are small, but they’re big enough. I’d like to try it with the Apple Pencil to see if that works better for me. Either way, the touch controls are fine overall. Hopefully we’ll see some more names on the Marathon GC leaderboard soon. macplash likes this. solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 907 287 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #7 solarnya, Jul 31, 2023 Bought, played and wow!
