Has anyone played this one previously and would be able to give a brief overview of it compared to Cat Quest 1? I actually really loved the first one but admittedly it felt like it lacked a bit of variation as time went on. But still an enjoyable game. I do see the sequel has two characters simultaneously now. Idk, yeah, the game play is pretty much the same but I found it messier and less inspired. The first was a complete GOTY for me. Compelling, dragged me along, loved it to bits, played to completion. I’m not even sure I completed 2 and remember periods of thinking “why am I even playing this?” I may have even re-DLed one just for a sense check on whether or not I had been fkn insane to like it. I had a sense of sequel syndrome; a bit more churning it out, thinner storyline / dynamics, an edge of desperation to the storyline. It just didn’t work for me. This is a really skimpy and perhaps unfair review a year or two on, but it is a year or two on so I can’t remember much detail Alex DeLargest and macplash like this. Stag Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2017 316 64 28 #8 Stag, Jun 22, 2023 Yeah, this one I am not feeling. Definitely, the first one was better imo. Even thought the control scheme is pretty much the same as the first, this one seems erratic. Switching from dog to cat, equipping each one of them with gear...I don' t know. Doesn't work for me either. Alex DeLargest Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2010 346 122 43 Male USA/France #9 Alex DeLargest, Jun 23, 2023 Agreed, this is a messy, uninspired sequel. Didn't hold my attention at all on Apple Arcade and certainly isn't worth five bucks standalone. However, after having bought CQ2 when the sale hit, I've found this version to be far better than the first. I'm almost finished but am stuck on the number of caves that need to be explored and/or completed. I've scanned and traveled to and fro but can't find the remaining 17 caves.
