Also don’t really see much resemblance to Darkest Dungeon other maybe the look and tone of it. Gameplay is much different. Mix of dungeon master style games and sort of deck builder (with monsters as your deck as opposed to cards). Darkest Dungeon is more of a survival dungeon crawler. I think the comparison potentislly to darkest dungeon comes from the fact that you can play with the psychology of the heroes somewhat. But it’s more of darkest dungeon light seasoning, rather than the whole meal Anotherkellydown likes this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #6 elcrazy, May 23, 2023 Looks interesting. I love a good deck builder and rogue lite. But can’t seem to see what the game play feels like. Dont like management games or have time for rpg. Can’t tell if it leans more management rpg rogue lite. Or deck building action rogue lite anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #7 anthony78, May 23, 2023 Last edited: May 23, 2023 I don’t like management games either but this is pretty simple stuff. Still not sure I’d classify as a deck builder either as it technically doesn’t have cards. But each monster has different abilities and you kind of manage your “deck” by pulling monsters out to rest and putting others in. It has a tree of decisions that’s similar to Slay the Spire and other card games (like going to a shop, an event or fighting adventurers). And each level you do take on adventurers, you are placing monsters and traps in each room (seems to be 4 rooms per level before your boss). It’s very light management. Then you control what skills you use, etc., when battling with your monsters like a regular turn-based RPG. Anyway, it’s hard to classify. A bit rough around the edges but pretty fun IMO. It‘s a very light deck- and roguelike where you play the dungeon boss and not the heroes. As dungeon master you get every ingame week different options like training your monsters, or buy new monsters, or alchemy or other events. Once you choose an option you move on to the next week. After some weeks heroes will appear for a dungeon run and you will have to defend. At first you just set up the dungeon. You have to watch the elemental stats of each invading hero and use your traps, spells and monsters that help the most against their elemental weakness. Then you start the dungeon and have to decide the spells and what attack of 2 possible attacks your monster should do. Although you only have few options during the dungeon run, you still need a good strategy and the right attacks to win. Every monster has motivation stats, if they drop too low the monster can‘t be used for several rounds. But you can drag them out of your monsterparty to regain motivation. Your dungeon master has also stats that can be optimized during events. There is also a skilltree between the runs and relics that can be found. I totally love this concept and i also think the animations are quite good. All in all i feel a lot of love has been put into this game.
